LA Fitness

The gym is really big and they have a ton of space for everyone. They keep it pretty clean and the machines are in good condition. After 6 pm on the weekdays it’s really crowded and hard to use the weight area. The yoga classes are blah, cycle is alright. I really liked the mat Pilates class – good focus on core. But dear god do they train the people working the front desk to be just as rude as possible?! I’ve been going here for 7 months now and I don’t think any of the ladies working the front have ever even said hi when checking me in or acknowledge that I’m another human being in front of them. Like I don’t need a lot but eye contact and smile maybe would be nice instead of literally being treated like I’m nothing.

The overall gym itself is wonderful! I could not be happier with the quality of the equipment as well as the availability. I am only giving them three stars because of their customer service! When you walk into a gym you expect to be greeted and at least acknowledged! Here at LA Fitness they scan your bar code and let you go. Customer service skills need to be implemented here so badly! Even just acknowledging people when they walk in. Sometimes when I come in, the barcodes are just set on the counter and the workers are on the computer and they do not even look your direction. People choose certain gyms because they feel comfortable and welcome, this gym does not provide any of this. Train your staff on how to communicate with their guests!!!

This is one of the older LA Fitness facilities in the area. However, the facility is well maintained and has basketball and racquetball courts, which the Crown Valley facility doesn’t have. The group fitness classes are the usual for LAF, each has its merits.
I mostly swim here often. I’ve found the pool here to be better maintained than the LAF on Crown Valley, which seems to be managed poorly. The water temperatures at this Alicia Parkway location are kept at comfortable levels, as advertised. Compared to this, the LAF pool on Crown Valley is always very cold, despite repeated complaints from several members. I’ve just resolved not to go to the Crown Valley location any more, seems like they’re inclined on running the place on a shoe string budget. Water pressure at the showers at Crown Valley are down to a trickle.
The kids club here is okay. I would’ve liked for the folks managing the kids club to be a little more engaged with the kids. All in all, a good club.

Hello Mgr, I’ve been noticing that the men’s locker room has been looking really bad in the afternoons. I figured it’s cuz it’s busy.
I came in this Sunday, holly crap. It’s a mess in there. Very unsatisfactory. Paper towels everywhere floors look like crap. Good thing the health dept doesn’t give a grade cuz you would get a Z — it’s that bad. I pay my fees like every member here. I DONT THINK they appreciate it also. Please clean it up.
Also, the workout areas. Come on.

TONS of equipment but along with that it brings along TONS of people. This place is a great place for a quick workout, but it wouldn’t be my goto gym due to the large crowds here. I’m usually at the gym to do other activities as well: swimming, basketball, etc. For weight training, this gym will have ample equipment, but if you want to do other things do, I would definitely recommend a less crowded location.

So glad I never joined! Smells awful, the guy Tony even smelled bad trying to sell us the membership. Not only did he not know what he was doing but he was rude and forceful at the end of our tour. I highly don’t recommend this gym or anyone it’s disgusting. Also don’t get a tour by Tony he’s called me 5 times since my tour it hasn’t even been 24 hours and I called them and told him to stop calling and he keeps calling! The «sales» man could barley speak english and he didnt even kniw what a business card was! There’s way better gyms out there. Worst gym I have ever seen!

I have been coming to this gym for almost 4 years, regularly working out and playing basketball. For my entire membership I have played basketball on weekdays beginning at 3:30 (most people show up at 4) and we normally play til about 6. There are a lot of usuals and we normally get upwards of 25 – 30 each day to come play basketball. Then all of a sudden one of the gym’s salesman decides to make a deal with an outside volleyball club for middle school girls and rents out the basketball court to them every single day of the week from 4 – 8 pm and weekends from 8 am-​12 pm. They have known for years these hours were the prime time for the basketball crowd to play pickup and blatantly disrespected all of us by taking our playing hours away from us. They gave us no notice until one day the team showed up and demanded we leave the court immediately so they can practice. It is unbelievable the behavior of the gym staff showed as they showed no regard for what their LOYAL members want and would rather add to their commission instead. Now we are forced to compile a petition of hundreds of members and hope that corporate will do something. At no time did they provide proof of any contract but instead came in the middle of the court during our court and told us we had to leave. Their staff and manager should be ashamed of themselves.

This location blows the locations I usually go to in LA out of the water! It feels like it’s one of their elite locations, but it’s just an average LA Fitness so anyone can go work out here. Makes me want to move back to Mission Viejo!
The machines are a little different than the ones I use in LA so it took me a couple visits to figure out their little quirks so I could do my usual workout routines. But once those kinks were settled, it was smooth sailing!
I’ll definitely be making a point to work out every time I visit my parents from here on out.

Gym is nice and it has an area down stairs that u can use to interval train. I enjoy fitness classes and the classes are horrible! The instructors are not very educated and they are very behind in the trend. I took a cycle class on Monday night and after class I asked what format she was teaching and she informed me she was not certified and made stuff up as she went! Yikes ! Dangerous! They do not require their trainers or fitness instructors to carry national certificates. They are doing a huge disservice to the members. Pay a few extra bucks and get real instructors.

FREE WI-​FI, WOOHOO!!! Vast array of exercise equipment, including but not certainly not limited to: weight-​lifting machines, free weights & associated benches, squat racks, a good # of cable-​crossovers, and a good # of stretching areas. Basketball court is nice and clean with quality basketball rims but the court itself is on the small side (the out of bounds area meets with the wall, the only minus for me). There’s also multiple racquetball courts, a yoga studio, a pool, and a pt area. All in all, this had to be the nicest LA fitness I’ve been to so far.

Nice gym but terrible customer service as they don’t even look customers in the eye and welcome them as they come in.
Also, the gym has been out of service for weeks now and was told it would only take about a week.
Poor management.

Clean, usually empty, one of the biggest locations on the west coast.
This location only is comparable to Golds gym.
Plenty of equipment! Usually at least 2 of everything you need. Would recommend to a friend.

We recently signed up w/​LA Fitness for one reason– their step class as we belong to two other gyms in the area.
Only to find out that large operation like LA Fitness is incapable of keeping their group fitness schedule up to date and their instructors/​sub-​instructors do not show.
Two weeks ago sub did not show up (our regular instructor was sick) so they had someone to teach Body Works– since I lift weights 2 – 3 times a week and have been around the gym for last 20 years (5 – 7 days a week) this is something I am not interested in. So when I call the next day and speak with the manager they absolutely agree, if the class instructor is not available, the sub should be familiar with that class and teach EXACTLY the class that is advertised.
Two weeks go by and once again, the sub Gwyneth (sp?) doesn’t show, so we have some Zoomba lady show up.
They ONLY have 2 step classes the entire week (in comparison of 14 Zoomba classes) so how is it possible that a national chain like LA Fitness cannot come up with a professional, certified teachers for something as simple as step class?
I called again today, this is supposed to be escalated to their VP of Aerobics (Nikki) and not happen again. So we will see. If this continues, I am cancelling our membership and taking our business elsewhere. I will also contact the home office/​headquarters, as am certain this is not the standard they had in mind for their business.
