Professional, kid friendly, efficient. During the Holidays, they were able to schedule an immediate need despite being booked solid. Even with being fit in to the schedule, we had all the time needed to ask questions and get Dr. Shannon’s advice.

This place is mommy approved but most importantly toddler approved! My 2 year old son loved visiting the dentist today he kept asking fore «more» of the bubble gum flavored paste. The staff is super friendly. My son was curious with all the instruments and the lady cleaned his teeth took the time show him everything and all the cool stuff it can do. As a mom of a curious toddler I appreciated that so much! This is our second visit here and every visit we’ve been greeted by friendly staff. I highly recommend this dentistry.

Dr Shannon and his staff are exceptional! I was impressed by their office setting, hospitality and bedside manner from start to finish. I will forever be grateful for taking care of my 3 year old son who endured all his dental work while under extensive anesthesia. Thank you thank you! For anyone looking for a dentist who is honest, caring and thorough, Dr Shannon is your guy!

My boys (ages 8, 6 & 3) have attended this practice since we moved here two years ago and we think Dr Shannon is fantastic! That being said, as the practice has grown, we believe the personal attention we experienced in the past has dwindled. In our most recent visit, it felt like an assembly line. I understand it probably helps the office flow efficiently, but our kids did not deal well with the change. Our oldest had a very aggressive hygienist at his last visit. He flinched many times, gripped the chair and was overall very uncomfortable. After, he asked that we never go back. This is the same child that always begged to go to the dentist. Due to her aggressive nature toward our oldest, our three year old didn’t even want to get in the chair. It was a very dramatic change from our experiences in the past. The office was very crowded and we felt the experienced was rushed. Dr Shannon, as always, was professional and truly an outstanding dentist. You cannot go wrong with him. We are currently searching for a smaller practice (probably not easy in Orange County), that can offer better attention to younger children.

The BEST pediatric dentist. We originally went to a dentist in RSM but my son had bad experiences there as a young child. As soon as this office opened, we switched and could not be happier!

Dr Shannon is exceptional.
His office is run very well. Very clean and pleasant. The decorations, movies, and rewards all perfect for kids. Linda and the other hygienists were excellent. First time here and will be bringing my kids here from now on.

I just took my 3 year old for a teeth cleaning and am extremely happy with this office! The staff was friendly and the woman who cleaned her teeth was very patient and playful. The doctor answered all my questions and took his time. I honestly went in with the expectation that my daughter wouldn’t even open her mouth, let alone get a full cleaning! Great place.

I’m not a big «going to the dentist» person myself, especially since you can’t trust that the services they’re recommending are actually necessary, so for my kids, I was even more picky. I was referred to Dr. Shannon by my kids’ pedi and in short, he is AMAZING!!! The one thing I love about him is that he doesn’t recommend more than what needs to be done (I know this because I took her to a couple dentists and was able to weed out the money makers). My daughter was in a lot of pain and needed quite a bit of work done (crowns and baby root canals) and he was the only one who gave me the option of happy air instead of anesthesia. He’s super professional, informative, and gets the job done as fast as he can for having a wiggly wormy patient in his chair. Now if I can only find a dentist like that for myself
The best part, they’re great on time. I’ve never had to wait in the office.
The office is very comforting and inviting, especially for the kiddos. They get to choose a movie to watch during their procedure. They have blankets to keep them comfy and cozy. They even provide little goodie bags for the kids after everything is done, including a «prize» of their choice!

Dr. Mike Shannon and his staff are a parent’s/guardian’s BEST FRIEND when it comes to pediatric dentistry!!! I am so happy my dentist had referred us to his office. I often hesitate in writing reviews for more personal services, such as anything medical, but in this particular situation, if I were a parent/​guardian in need of a friendly dentist for my child, I would be researching like crazy to find a place like Dr. Mike Shannon’s practice. I feel relieved I did not come across any unfortunate prior dentist visits for our son before learning about Dr. Shannon; and even moreso, thankful that our son’s early dentist experiences have not traumatized him from future appointments :)
We visit their location within a medical building directly across the street from the (Macy’s end) MV mall. I believe they have a San Clemente location as well. Their office is so welcoming upon entering and extremely clean, very professional. We have been bringing our son here since he was 2, now almost 9, he has yet to have had a cavity. Our son enjoys his visits and while it is not always one he gets overly eager about, he understands the importance of caring for his teeth and responds obediently and as patiently as he can with the help of their tender and gentle care. His fussiness with the x-​ray is unintentional and yet they are still so patient and when avoidable, have not caused him any stress. They offer us alternative solutions (i. e. when it comes to his dental x rays) to get any dental task completed that result in our son’s BEST care. We recently visited for sealants and had our first visit with Dr. Meschi, a new addition, we learned, to their office. While Dr. Shannon was present in the office, Dr. Meschi assisted us on this particular visit and we were very happy with her as well. It was undoubtedly due to how busy his office can be and they accommodated us so well despite that I had rescheduled a few times already. Our son even commented how he liked his new dentist, too. She is very nice, he had said. I can attest to their being so accommodating when it comes to each child. They are very calm and patient with our son.
Visits to the dentist office has changed drastically from way back when! Comforts of home with their own dvd and movie selections; a really cool salt water tank in their lobby, and fun treats and prizes after their cleaning and checkup makes me wish I were a kid again, just a bit. I can’t rave enough about how happy we are with every visit. Even when my dentist no longer validated my parking, their office is so attentive to always ask for our parking pass as they still do validate. It is this attention to detail and care for each of their visitors that makes our visits so comfortable. I’ve had one dental emergency for my son when he was a toddler and even then, calling during non-​business hours, I was able to reach Dr. Shannon and felt reassured to remedy our son’s tooth he injured, myself, and if needed, to bring him in after observing him within the following 24 hours. Sometimes a parent just needs that professional reassurance that everything is alright. Because of their exceptional care, we don’t mind the 70+ miles and the inevitable So. Cal traffic to get here. Thank you so much, again, Dr. Shannon! Thank you also to your wonderful staff!!!

Dr. Mike is just great, as is the entire staff. My 4-​year-​old loves going to the dentist. They make it such a pleasant place for the kids. Other reviewers have noted the nice office, personal TVs on the ceiling, animal sunglasses, etc. All those «amenities» keep my kid so happily distracted that he barely notices someone scraping away at his teeth. Dr. Shannon is very helpful with advice and visits are quick, easy and painless. I have a cousin whose son needed a major procedure and Dr. Shannon was wonderful addressing her concerns about the anesthesia.
The new office in San Clemente is gorgeous too. I LOVE this practice… I’m starting to wonder if I can book myself an appointment! Highly recommended.

Such a great office! Great staff and Dr Shannon is so great with the kids. I took my daughter for her very first dentist apt and she had so much fun!

This office has been wonderful! We had tried another office in OC but it wad too overwhelming. This office has private rooms which is less intimidating for my son! My 3 year old had a dental emergency (bike accident) and they got us in immediately and the staff was caring and Dr. Shannon was extremely helpful!

My kids love the dentist bc of Dr Shannon, omg they ask you if you want coffee or water when you come in :-) You don’t have to pay for parking and my daughters got to pick a movie to watch while they got their cleaning done flavor tooth paste and cool sunglasses, they get prices AND stickers after they are done. I have never seen an office as beautiful as his. A fish tank just like the one from finding nemo with lots of clean toys for the kids to play with. They have family rooms and single rooms too… every station has a cool dinosaur with a tooth brush that kids can play with. His office is fun and staff is friendly.

Dr. Mike Shannon is great!!! Dr. Mike’s office is very warm, welcoming and FUN. My son LOVES going to the dentist. I never thought I would utter those words! Their fish tank is set up to look like the one from Finding Nemo, complete with all the fish! Dr. Mike is calm, kind and very positive. He and his staff make the whole experience delightful and stress-​free for the kids. When the visit begins, the kids get to pick out silly glasses to wear, and choose a yummy flavor of tooth cleaner (they offer tons of flavors-​who knew there were so many!). Then the kids get get to choose a movie they will watch during the visit. Dr. Mike has every DVD your child can think of– and all the latest releases, of course. And, of course there is a prize at the end of the visit. If you’re looking for a dentist for your kids, make an appointment with Dr. Mike. You will be glad you did, because your kids are going to love their experience and actually look forward to visiting again!

Took my 6 year old grandson here for a second opinion. The staff, waiting room and exam rooms were comfortable and designed with kids in mind. TV’s with Nemo playing in every room and even on the ceiling for the kids to watch while laying back in the chair. Kevin was very comfortable and especially liked the sun glasses they gave him to wear.
Dr. Shannon made good suggestions for Kevin’s care. Since he doesn’t have insurance Dr. Shannon recommended that we take him to Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Dr. Shannon went to the Internet himself and looked up the phone # for us. We were also given a quote if we wanted to pay for the services Kevin needed, which was 2 root canals. I was very surprised with the quote and felt it was very reasonable.
We decided to go with his recommendations of going to Loma Linda which worked out well for my daughter, being a single mother.
I definitely recommend Dr. Shannon and will take Kevin there again if finances allow.

Dr. Mike and his entire staff are so fantastic with the children. All three of my kids (ages 3, 5 & 7) actually look forward to going to the dentist! Dr. Mike’s office is a very welcoming and cheerful environment. We’ve had x-​rays, cleanings, teeth pulled and cavities filled with no fuss at all! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Michael Shannon DDS!

I wish he was around when I was little!!! We recently took our two year old son in for his very first dentist appointment. My husband and I was super nervous because our son is really hyper-​active. But that fear was put to rest as soon as we got here. First off the office is beautiful, there are a bunch of fish tanks with beautiful exotic fish. Also they had a TV already playing Sesame Street! There are a bunch of toys and books so your child doesn’t get bored.
When we got in the room they have a TV on the ceiling so they can watch it during the exam. I am not all about just sticking my kid in front of a TV to entertain them, but when you need them to sit still it is perfect! The Hygienist came in and she new all the tricks to get my some to open up his mouth and actually let her do the exam, instead of just keeping his mouth closed. She showed him everything and explained to him what she was going to do prior, so he was not scared. I forget her name but she was so patient. Then Dr. Shannon comes in and he is just a sweetheart and awesome with kids. My son got to pick out a toy and got a cute penguin toothbrush so he was thrilled. I highly recommend if you have kids BRING THEM HERE THEY WILL WANT TO GO TO THE DENTIST!!! Thanks Dr. Mike we will see you in six months :)
