9Round Mission

Ive never enjoyed working out and struggle with motivation to do so. Joining here has been a fantastic opportunity to get away from.that. The trainers are fantastic and there is always such a fun atmosphere.

What’s not to love? You get to punch and kick stuff for 30 minutes and burn off that sneaky donut you had this morning at the office. I can’t make an excuse not to come in for a 30 minute workout. The trainers here are fantastic. Why workout anywhere else?

9Round is a welcome addition to the workout facilities in the Mission area. If you aren’t familiar with the 9Round concept, it’s a kickboxing/​circuit workout that includes 9 different stations that you work at for 3 minutes each. By the end of the 9 rounds you have incorporated cardio, some weight training, lots of kickboxing, and a ton of core work into a 30 minute workout.
This workout is intense, you will definitely feel like you have accomplished a thorough, full body workout in a short amount of time. Some days have themes, like «Leg Tuesday» or «Burpee Friday» and there is usually a challenge station that stays the same for a couple of days in a row. Otherwise, your workout is different every day. While a 9Round workout is difficult, it caters to various fitness levels, and many exercises can be modified.
The trainers are great, especially Alexis and Tina. They push you hard, but they are also personable and non-​judgmental. Angela, the owner, is also fantastic.
Another positive about 9Round is that you can pop in any time and jump into the circuit. Like all gyms, there are definitely busier times of the day/​week than others, which brings me to my only (very small) complaints. The facility is small, and when there is a rush, it gets packed. Sometimes to accommodate the rush, two people are paired up at the same station. I am not a fan of this. I would rather wait a couple of minutes and jump in when a station is free rather than share with another person. Also, hours are limited on Friday afternoon (I have to rush from work to make it before it closes), and on Saturday, which is consistently packed. Again, these are very, very small gripes, and the positives greatly outweigh these minor inconveniences.
Overall, 9Round is a fantastic (and addictive) workout staffed by some great trainers. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to up their fitness game, and actually have a little bit of fun while working very hard.
