Uh maybe my rosy outlook of this DMV is shaded with memories of my county’s DMV (read Wyandotte County) but I love it here. The building is well lit, there are plenty of seats, the employees seem happy and friendly. I really have no complaints. I came here for the first time because the line at my local office was out of the door and a friend mentioned that he had already been standing there for 1.5 hrs. Literally, people were standing outside of the building because there is only a few chairs and mostly standing room inside. So I came here. BEST.DECISION.EVAH!!! I never turned back. Since then, this has been my DMV of choice. You can check in by phone, text or online and give your cell number. You’ll get texts to let you know where you’re at in line. It’s almost like the Disney FastPass of DMVs! That option isn’t available everywhere. Also, back to the employees, I watched one help a person walk through using the kiosk (also something that WyCo doesn’t have) and answer the phone (something that WyCo has but I’ve never actually witness them answer) and do both with a smile. My goodness! They are even quick workers. I’ve never spent more than an hr here. I never spent less than an hr and a half at my local one. The only thing else I could want is someone to come out with complimentary beverages and/​or snacks… maybe some live entertainment. Wait, my love of people watching takes care of the entertainment so yeah snacks and beverages would suffice. I mean this location makes me drive out of my way to come here because I know my experience will be tons better than my local office. That’s sad but I love it more. I heart you, Mission DMV!!! You’ve got a friend in me in my Randy Newman voice.

This location is the place to go if you need the DMV. They have a number you can call to get in line, (844) 647‑7635, so once you get there you don’t have to wait. They have people that help you when you walk in and a touchscreen to check in. I have been there twice and didn’t have to wait at all. Not all the DMV locations have the virtual line and touchscreens– so I go to this one so I don’t have to wait!

Checked in via text and had no wait time. Friendly and quick service for someone getting a KS license.

I had no problems renewing my license. Actually it was pretty painless.
I did use the QLess text which is helpful. If you need more time, you can send a text with M for more time. I was in and out of the building in less than 15 minutes.
I took in my yellow renewal card, a bill that I do receive in the mail and my license. That was enough ID for them. The person at window# 7 was friendly especially for so early in the morning.
I didn’t look up the renewal prices online and didn’t have the cash on hand. There is fee for paying with a debit/​credit card. It’s an extra 65 cents.

Friggin hard to find. Not part of the other dmv stuff. Just what new a resident needs. Three different places for inspection, title/​tags and license in an unfamiliar city.
However, the Qless thing is helpful and there are no lines in freezing January. In and out in about 15 min.
Bring proof of residence (insurance card will do), ID (passport or ss card), old license.

This is the drivers license place. I came in at 1:15 on a Wednesday and finally got my renewal at 4:50 pm. Sitting in a plastic chair for hours is terrible for my posture since I sit about as still as a three-​year old. Speaking of three-​year-​olds, a lot of people brought them here to scream bloody murder on this particular day. Never fear, though. You can always go shopping at Hobby Lobby or Taco Bell across the parking lot (separate reviews). Thank God for strategically placing HL nearby (that’s kind of a joke), because I was able to kill an hour in there and another one drinking free soda refills in TB. You can see how long your wait is through text. Times, however, can begin at 1 hour 15 minutes and five minutes later turn into 1 hour 53 minutes. KDOR needs to get its act together. The only reason it gets two stars is for friendly employees (one) and the strategic location to fast food and shopping to kill the inevitable three-​hour wait (star two). I would’ve gone early in the morning but couldn’t get off work then.

I know, I can’t believe I’m giving 4 stars to a government establishment but I needed to make my 4 – 5 year pilgrimage to the Department of Revenue to get my out-​of-​date license renewed.

And thanks to managing the line via text well (you can ask for 10 more minutes via a command) I got in, sat down for 10 minutes, got my new license (a temp one — they mail you the new one) and left. Much to the chagrin and anger of the chumps who showed up to spend 2 hours of their day waiting at the DMV.
It’s 2013, people. Wake up and smell the interwebs.
