This store is awful, the Manager is the most rudest person around. She is power driven and does not care if this store survives or not. She raises prices on the things that were given to them and poor people are getting where they cannot afford going there. You may as well buy new stuff. If she does not like you then she will just tell you not to come back in her store. She just did that to a friend of mine, who by the way spent $ 1300 in that store last month. So now I will not go there anymore either, so the store has lost everyone I know and everyone she knows, we plan on letting everyone know. Corp Office does not do anything about this person, and one of the employees is getting ready to sue Goodwill for Stress.

This place is crazy expensive for a thrift store. I mean, they accept donations to sell, which means 100% profit after they pay for overhead. It’s not even right. They do have friendly staff at this location though.

I HATE this store. I love thrift shopping on my day off while my daughter is in school. But I will no longer stop here. First, they price their stuff too high. Same as retail in some cases. Second, I had a tablecloth in my cart. Girl went to ring it up, there was no tag. I pointed to the other similar tablecloths in the summer clearance, she said no, «If it’s not tagged, it may be part of a set. We have to inventory it». She tossed it into a bin behind the counter. She didn’t even attempt to get a price for me. IT’S THEGOODWILLFORPETE’S SAKE!!! Is that one, clearance used item going to mess up the inventory of donated merchandise??? And then, most recently, I had one item. Walk up to the counter. Clerk makes eye contact with me, and walks away from the counter. I stand and wait. And I wait. I hear 4 employees talking, but not one returns to the counter. Another lady gets in line behind me, and we both wait. I lose my patience and push my item away and walked out. Lastly, the way they organize their clothes by color is stupid. I don’t want to go through all the racks looking at size large, they should group them by size. I HATE this store. I think I said that already.

This place was great a few years ago in terms of prices, but now the prices are absolutely outrageous. It’s as if they are just another retail store, except for used products. They mark-up some video games 200%-300% of the actual price just because it looks old(N64, NES, Sega games, etc) and they even do this with awful newer games for platforms such as the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc. A lot of the times you can find it online from Amazon or eBay for cheaper or at least the same price. This makes no sense to me at all. Books used to be $ 0.50-$ 1.00, but now the price is based on the amount of pages. This strikes me as odd because The Hopechest and The Good Samaritan price their books at $ 0.50-$ 1.00 and they are having trouble with making enough room for more books. I understand the general purpose of this NPO, but I don’t agree with the prices at all. I’m sure other people have the same thought, especially after visiting other thrift stores around the area. I love thrifting and generally never come to Goodwill stores around Modesto anymore only because there are better alternatives in terms of pricing. Some good things I can say about most Goodwill stores is that they are generally well-kept and organized and that I’ve never really had a problem with the staff members.

Fu*k this place! It is no longer goodwill its some knock off place that basically filled the void when goodwill moved across the street. I went in today to see if i could find some old video games and when i did they were 10⁄15 dollars each. IE. Turok n64, Their price:13 $/Online: 3 $ Aero the acrobat snes, Their price 9.99 $/Online:3 $ (These prices are on price ) So i asked is there anyway you could come down on these prices? The lady there said the manager prices them by the ebay. FU*KINGEBAY?! If i wanted to pay ebay prices id i dunno SHOPONEBAY not leave my house and go «thrift shopping». Also to note while i was there another lady was asking the same thing. She mentioned she was a school teacher and she wanted something she’d found there for 18 that was 20 new and if they could come down on the price and they flat out told her no. Needless to say neither of us bought anything there and i wont be going back anytime soon i doubt she will be either.

This is a great place if you are looking for items at a huge discounted price! They have a lot of clothing, and surprisingly, a lot of it is in style and trendy! There shirts are $ 3.26 apiece, which is alright. They don’t have much of a shoe selection though. Overall, this is a great place! Staff is very friendly too!

Overpriced on everything! They had a big selection of video games when I went there, all used, which usually means you have to clean off the pizza sauce and spooge before using. They wanted 40 bucks a piece! This is more expensive than at Game Stop, which doesn’t get their inventory from the donations of others trying to support a good cause. Many other items I found were marked at retail or ABOVE retail. I thought the whole point of a thrift store was to provide cheap goods to people to help benefit some worthwhile cause. Goodwill has become a bit too greedy in my opinion. I found out that these stores only keep the less desireable donations for store sells, they actually send the better items they get to a warehouse, and then auction the stuff online or on ebay! This way they get above retail prices. Call me crazy but I think stores with a «charity» angle shouldn’t be all about raking in the dollas!

You do understand that this is a non-profit organization, and that all of the money they make goes to helping people right? After having worked at a women and children’s shelter for years, I was down right appalled to hear people bring in donations with the caveat that they«go to truly needy people, and not sold for a profit.» I always thanked people kindly for the items as my clients were in desperate need for them, but always gently reminded people that non-profit agencies which sell donated items have overhead, and sell your donations for as much as they can to turn it around and use the surplus $$$$$ for the needy(which is much better than some of the ratty old junk that some bring in and they cheerfully take off your hands for you). I love the goodwill store. They make donating your items easy, and are a large, nationwide organization with transparent accounting. Look up what they do with the money they make!

I’ve been coming here for years. surprised I never wrote a review. I’m not for changing there sections all the time and there prices rising and dropping. I like the dropping of prices but $ 3 for crib shoes is a little ridiculous. They used to have a maternity section and now they have maternity in with all the other women’s clothing so you have to search for them. I love that they have coupons sometimes and that they have a punch card.

This store should be more popular. I go here to buy books($ 1 for hardcovers, $.50 for paperbacks) there’s no better deal anywhere. Clothes are unbelievably cheap, as is everything else. They have recently updated their donation lane and this make things run much smoother if you are there to donate. The staff are… interesting, but what would one expect? I hope you go to this store and, in all seriousness, are able to see its splendors.
