Indian Grocery and Chaat

I really ought to have written something about the store/​restaurant before. There is a large grocery with an incredible array of groceries, frozen food and fresh food. And, the chaat is amazing. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. It is without a doubt the best Indian restaurant I have eaten in in the Modesto area, actually in the entire valley and probably the bay area as well. The prices are excellent. The owners and people working at the store are friendly (actually delightful) and thoughtful.
I keep going back again and again. It is just that good. As other people have been saying it is truly a gem.

Best Indian restaurant in valley. i can say better than Bay Area. the cleanliness, Service, food ever thing great. You name it and everything you find it in that store of course Indian grocery.

My friends and I greatly enjoyed our experience at this store. I had a masala dosa, which was a crêpe filled with curry potatoes, onions, corn, and spices, served with a two sides of dip and a vegetable soup. The owners and their friends were incredibly friendly and patient. We came in thirty minute befores they closed and they still served us with a smile. The menu was large and their desserts were delicious. The store carries a variety of Indian items, great for home cooking. My friends and I will most certainly be back to the store for more great food.

The place has basically 3 in 1 building. Grocery store, eye brow threading and a stop for hot lunch. The service was excellent and the individuals running the place were very friendly. The prices were also exceptional! Only thing wrong was they didn’t have my favorite sweets ladoos;((but over excellent!

Everything tastes so good. I can say its the best indian food place around area. Employers are well trained and treat customers very well.

I was a bit hesitant because there was no one there. Tried the samosa chaat and the chole bhature. They rolled and made the bread from scratch and it was delicious. Can’t wait to try something else, they were very friendly and it is very clean.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem in Modesto. It is clean, organized and well stocked with grocery and food items. We enjoyed delicious, fresh, flavorful food. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their dishes.

I went in to buy some frozen rotiyaan (indian bread). The lady advised me to buy the fresh version. They bake these in her kitchen. Turned out really good. Round, perfectly baked and a decent thickness. Thanks to the lady in the kitchen who was making the rotiyaan. Also, the store is clean.

Great Indian grocery, clean and bright, great selection, also with many frozen convenience foods. Chaat café in back — only place anywhere around with masala dosa. Yum!

This place is delish. The food was so good and cheap. The man was very helpful. He explaned everthing on the menu. I will be going back here soon.

This is a great jewel in Modesto. The grocery store is nice and well stocked. We had several of the items on the menu and all the dishes were very good. The staff was very friendly.

Found this place here on Unilocal and thought we would give it a try. The food is amazing and by far my favorite in the Modesto area. The staff is friendly and was very helpful when we were having trouble deciding what to get. The samosas are my favorite. If you are in the area and love Indian food this is the place to go!

Just had lunch here. The food was flavorful, the restaurant within the market was convenient, and the service was quick and friendly. The only drawback was that I had a hard time understanding the menu without pictures or food descriptions which I fully expected. Nonetheless the gal at the counter gave me some suggestions and I was very happy with my choices. Warning portions are very large! Yum!

Large aisles. All your dals, rice, flour, spices, ghee, chai, sweets… they have everything. A whole wall of refrigerated/​frozen goods. Indian jewelry. DVD’s. And delicious chaat. It’s all here.
The protocol for ordering food is ordering at the front counter, w the cashier, & not at the back counter w the kitchen. The cashier that took care of us was a complete doll.
My mom ordered the samosa chaat ($ 3.99) to go. I can tell you that the aroma it filled the car with was just amazing. I seriously questioned my choice to pass & eat something else at home.
The samosas are huge. Since it was a to-​go order, they appropriately put the chaat in a separate container on the side so as to avoid leaving us w a soggy mess by the time we got home. You’re to pour the chaat over the samosas, & feast away.
It was delicious! Absolutely loaded w flavors. Robust, complex, some heat, & a touch of sweetness.
I’m picky, but my mom is even worse. She’s known in my family for her stellar Indian cooking.
She gave these guys the thumbs up.

Excellent chaat and grocery! My husband and I moved from San Jose a few months ago and haven’t found a Indian store that we’ve really liked until yesterday. We just happened to be driving by and found it by chance. This is one of the cleanest shops I’ve been in. EVER. And everyone is very helpful and knowledgable. We’re both vegetarian and we weren’t sure what we could order, the nice lady helping us assured us that everything was vegetarian! Hard to find in Modesto forsure. Delicious, clean environment, fresh, friendly, great prices and fast! What more could you want? They even have a rewards program for frequent shoppers! We’re definitely sold:)

Finally got a full fledge indian store in Central Valley also the chaats are mind blowing especially gol gappa, Pav bhaji, sev puri, I like all the food and best part is sweets everything fresh made in front of you also very clean place difficult to find such neat and clean places to eat also the staff is very courteous
