Contented Canines

I would like to recommend Kim AND Contented Canines. I provided foster care for a dog for her. I found her to be extremely professional and nice to work with. I have heard great things from other people that have used her also. I will say that I myself boarded dogs in my home for 2 years as a side business. I found people were VERY difficult to work with when it came to their dogs. They have unreasonable expectations and you get blamed for everything, even things that are out of your control. Also keep in mind that if you buy your dog/​puppy from a pet store or a breeder many times they suffer long term physical AND psychological issues, so blaming the person that is caring for them for anything is completely unfair and unreasonable. I hope you sleep well at night doing such. We were devastated by ONE poor Unilocal we rec’d from a client merely because we told them we were no longer taking their dog. His poor reviews of other businesses on Unilocal was writing on the wall and we did not wish to imply more liability caring for their «princess» that was terminally ill and 100% blind. We had 5 great Unilocal and one bad one and our rating remained at a 3. Keep in mind that I am pretty sure there is NO way to Unilocal Unilocal.Make sense? A service that is providing business ratings but you are unable to rate Unilocal or rate their business. Kind of smells bad.

Ive had dogs all my life and taken them to a variety of groomers and training facilities. All pleasant experiences. It’s not the case at Contented Canines. Where do I begin?!?
I’ll start w the most recent and upsetting experience involving grooming. I brought in my gorgeous Australian Labradoodle with the most beautiful coat that never matts and spectacular head and face. I took home a chopped up version of a poodle. Her beard was completely sheared of or chopped off and her ears were cut very high. Her feet were coir pointed like a poodle. Look up Australian Labradoodles to see the proper trim.
Anyway, I was not given my much deserved refund even though I was specific in what I expected her to look like when I brought her in. I spoke with the owner of facility and she was unsympathetic and unwilling to believe what took place. No refund. I took my doodle to be hopefully evened up since she was chopped and had another bath even though it was only 2 days since last one. She was dirty according to the new groomer and my dog hadn’t been outside playing at all other than to potty on leash for those two days. The groomer at Contented a Canines hasn’t a clue as to what breeds cuts should look like. She’s terrible and with a terribly rude attitude. I doubt if she had any formal groomer training and if so, she didn’t pay attention.
On another matter, I paiid over $ 300 for obedience classes for my dog and that of my son’s puppy. Several family medical issue came up preventing us from bringing our dogs to the classes. Neither classes were booked up and I gave notice way ahead of the weeks the classes were to take place. The owner refused to refund the money… not even ½ due to medical circumstances… not even one nickel. The medical issues continue and we will not ever be able to attend any classes. I am out $ 350. A lot of money. The owner is unbending, unreasonable and unapproachable on all levels. I have never dealt with anyone so unbendable, cold hearted and with absolutely no regard for the pleas of clients. She also doesn’t seem to mind that the groomer she employs is rude and whiny to clients… and that she has no idea how to groom dogs. She also cut the nose of my do and didn’t tell me.
On a side note, the facility itself is depressing with that dark, yellowish, sleepy lighting that isn’t cheerful at all. The potty area is about 8×10 square area. The place just isn’t nice… The owner not about to be helpful to clients regarding anything. It’s all about the money and nothing more. Bad place, horrible groomer. Stay away!

We regularly leave our dog at kennels for when we travel for weekend trips, etc.
We left her here for three days and when we got our her back she was limping, her urine seemed an odd color, and she wouldn’t eat for days. We think they left her to dehydrate which would explain the odd color in her urine. We have been to so many kennels in the past and we have NEVER seen our dog come back in such a ragged condition. My mother was extremely worried about her and I told her to take our dog to the emergency vet for a check up. We don’t know what happened to her here, but we will never bring her back again.
