A Different Kind of Day Camp and Teen Adventure Camp!

Nature Camps’ role is to take children into the woods, fields, and streams in a real and personal way. With wonderful enthusiasm, children delight in exploring 230 acres of nature conservancy woodlands. Children learn about nature and real crafts while challenging themselves, having fun, being safe, and discovering new ways of seeing and doing things!

Nature Camps is an Outdoor Adventure and Environmental Education

organization committed to transformative experiential education programs,

promoting individual growth and sensory awareness for children and parents.

Nature Camps is a family based program, specializing in mixed-​age learning.

In a creative and guided setting, children choose activities in which they wish

to participate. Family Overnights and Concerts take place each session!

History

Established in 1974.

Meet the Business Owner

Don W.

Business Owner

Don Webb (Founder/​Director) is a life long naturalist and outdoor educator, focusing on the unique growth and development of each individual child.

Don holds Master degrees from Antioch University New England: MA, Master in the Art of Teaching (MAT); MA, Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). He is a graduate of Rutgers University, The New York Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy and Training, and The New York Focusing Institute.

Don was in VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America), working as a Community Organizer and later as a Teaching Principal in a one-​room schoolhouse in Appalachia. He taught on the elementary, secondary, and college levels for thirty-​three years.

Don founded Whispering Oaks School, Inc. a one-​room country schoolhouse in White Hall, Maryland. Locally, he taught at the Gilman Lower School, The Jemicy School, Whispering Oaks, Inc. and Havre de Grace High School. In 1974, Don founded Nature Camps, Inc. (formerly Don Webb Nature Camp-​DWNC).
