Robert Klein, CPA, unfortunately gets only one star from us.
He was hired to resolve a problem from the NY Department of Labor which was related to tax returns. He was given power of attorney to not only handle and resolve the problem while my husband was away from the country for three months, but he was given authority to ensure no penalties were taken from the business account (which had happened in the past and they were taken for an invalid reason).
Three months later, my husband returned and not only did Robert Klein insist it was absolutely impossible to solve this problem within three months, but $ 1500 was taken from the bank account from the IRS for not filing a form that required us to put a $ 0 in terms of amount owed. That form was not filed by Robert, and because of that, an additional $ 1500 was removed from the account.
We took the files, left the office, set up an appointment with the Dept of Labor, resolved the tax issues that Robert insisted couldn’t be solved in three months, and we did it with just a few calls and one visit.
Robert not only did not do the job he was supposed to do, he cost us $ 1500 in illegitimate fines.
I would not recommend him for any kind of tax work at all.
