Pure Terror Screampark

This attraction would have been a lot better with well lit rooms so you can see all the awesome animatronics they have, I’m planning on coming back again this year and the park is extremely expensive, I hope you guys fixed your lighting and your amount of actors now that you extended the haunts! When I went two years ago there were so many gaps between actors and darkness. it would have been more enjoyable had the rooms been lit better and animatronics been plugged in and working when they are supposed to! But I’m willing to give the place another shot! If nothing has changed as far as my concerns go I will not visit again and I will tell others to stray from doing so as well, when your attraction costs as much as this one does expectations are high and you have to try your best to live up to them. for your paying customers sake! I’m an avid haunted attraction visitor, I don’t take my visits lightly and I compliment where compliments are due!!! I take this business very seriously and I hate giving bad reviews but I know how much potential this place has if only a few small kinks are worked out! I promise it will make all the difference.

Let me start by saying I don’t like haunted houses or getting scared; my idea of a fun Halloween is sitting at home eating copious amounts of candy and watching Hocus Pocus. However, one of my friends heard about this place on Z100, and since I apparently like to torture myself we decided to get a group together and head up to Monroe last night.
General admission is $ 45 plus tax, plus there’s an option to upgrade to a VIP pass for an additional $ 20 (all cash only). We made the decision not to go for VIP passes since none of us wanted to shovel out the additional money; I read the Unilocal reviews so I was prepared for a multi-​hour wait for tickets and admission.
We arrived around 8:15; there was ample parking close to the park entrance, and we got through security relatively quickly. To my surprise, there was barely a line for tickets; we waited maybe 10 minutes at the most. We then were directed to another queue to enter the main attraction. The line was longer here, but still we only waited around 30 minutes (again kind of surprising since it was the day/​Friday before Halloween); there was a movie playing on a projector and employees walking around to make the time pass.
We entered the first house around 9pm; each house has a separate theme, but in general you’re walking through each house, there’s gross stuff everywhere, and staff is lurking in corners and corridors getting all up in your face trying to scare you. If you let it get to you it can be scary, but if you ignore them they pretty much leave you alone. There are tight corridors, uneven ground, and props everywhere. My favorite house was probably «Buried Alive» — you’re pretty much walking through the house in complete darkness; it was kind of frustrating but the biggest standout for me.
It took us about an hour to get through it all. They advertise 11 houses, but it doesn’t feel like it because they’re clumped together with a few breaks in between. Overall it was an okay experience; being with friends definitely made it worth it. I probably wouldn’t come back because of the cost, distance, and my dislike of getting scared, but they did a good job.

Not worth the huge price tag associated with it!!!
Just visited pure terror with about 15 people this past Sunday night ¹⁰⁄₂₅. We luckily got a groupon for about $ 50 for VIP. We got there about 720 and proceeded to make the line for security. An announcement on the loudspeaker said women are not allowed to wear purses — so we had to get off line and walk back to the car. A few of us left, and we were parked pretty far. By the time we got back, our friends were already inside past security. We had to go to the back of the line. By the time we go to security it was
. Next was the long line for the box office. Yes with VIP u still have to wait on line. The line for cash was empty but the line for online ticketing was atrocious. We waited on line for another hour. We finally got to the first haunt at 9!
Now i am giving this park 2 stars because :
Sets: amazing especially the catacombs area, very cool with the twists and turns and low ceilings that you had to almost crawl under …
Scary: not at all!!! We found ourselves walking through all the haunts minus any actors. There might be two actors throughout the whole attraction.
11 attractions: NOPE !!! It was long took an hour to get through but there might have been 7 or 8, and my group agrees. One attraction carnage — was a sign and just a walk w/​o any actors or scares … And there were a few more like that. The circus had one actor. Most of the houses — including the catacombs — you just walked around and around without even a scare.
Positives: sets, duration of attraction
Negatives: box office line, need MANY MoRE actors scaring you, very expensive — not worth the price (groupon was $ 50 for VIP and reg price $ 70.57 wtf??? Are they serious), no flushing bathrooms — just port-​a-​potties.
Also the employees were letting too many people in at one time and too close together — so the group in front of you would get an actor jumping out at them but there was no time for the actor to reassemble.

Came here this past Saturday with a group of 8. We purchased our tickets online thinking that would help us avoid waiting on line, wrong! Just as some of the other reviewers stated, the whole line/​entrance situation is really disorganized. People just walk in front of you like it’s nothing, and even though there are 2 separate lines– one for ticket holders and one for those who have to purchase tickets– this was not made clear to us until about 20 minutes of waiting on line.
Anyway, once you get inside, it’s more confusion. You have to wait on yet another line to get the tickets, that you had already purchased and printed out… yea, I know. Anyway, you turn in your printed out ticket, for a ticket stub– which nobody asks to see or even takes from you the rest of the night. In fact, I kept on asking staff around the park if they wanted my ticket… it’s still in my pocket…
So once you get your 2^nd ticket, there are a few port-​o-​potties (there are no real bathrooms in the park) and a table set up selling hot chocolate, donuts, hot dogs, sodas, etc. You then wait on another line to enter in the first house– but at least they have a movie playing on a big screen-​so that keeps you pretty occupied. Also, while you’re waiting, they have various actors dressed up scaring people.
Without giving too much away, the houses are pretty cool– it gets kinda repetitive though. Some of the houses are pretty narrow, have uneven ground and some are pitch black. I think it took us about 2 hours to get through the entire park with the lines and all. I can’t really complain too much about the lines– this is going to happen everywhere. I’ve been to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, and the lines there are even worse.
Anyway, to be honest, it didn’t scare me, my boyfriend is another story, he jumped about 10 feet in the air a few times. Even though I wasn’t scared, I did have a lot of good laughs.
Two tips, dress really warm and try and wait a couple of minutes for the group ahead of you to go through the house before you start.

We went Oct 24, the place must’ve not expected soooo many ppl. We waited 1hr to get our tkts. I think they didn’t have enough staff. We walked threw & the ppl behind weren’t getting scared they already knew wat to expect. then to enter the other house was another long

All the adults should come here and experience. Tell you the truth the line was pretty long we came here on Sunday night around 715pm. The the line was about Hour and a half but it’s worth every single minute after you get in. It took us about hour and a half to finish the few houses. It was amazing, all the ghosts were actors, they actually talk back to you. Of course spook you sometimes. Every house has a different theme. They won’t touch you but the lighting and props that they used were amazing better than In the movies. There were few times I thought I was in the residence evil game. Just come, at least for once in a lifetime

baby and i went to pure terror screampark tonight. the entire attraction took two hours and seventeen minutes — hence, it holds the guinness world book record for longest haunt. was bummed they didn’t have any funnel cake. the place is great. if you’ve never been, go. $ 50 per person but the work and wonders placed into this is something i need half an hour to explain. eleven haunted houses, and you actually trek through terrain, house sized clowns, crawl through tunnels, duck and dodge large objects. pitch black houses where you get lost, pushing through large air balloon hallways. the american horror story theme, asylum, was awesome and so was the walking dead house. can’t wait for a hot bath.

Come here only if you want to stand in line in the cold for hours! Absolutely no control, VIP ticket not worth it. Don’t buy your tickets online, the line to get them here is much shorter!!!

A group of friends went tonight having bought our tickets well over a month ago. Upon arrival it was crowded, and we were unsure where to park, but found our way. The staff was very friendly. However, after waiting a short while to pick up our tickets, I wish they would have told us they would be severely crowded and asked if we had wanted to upgrade to VIP tickets. (I say this, because they posted it on Facebook during this time, which I didn’t see until later.) We then waited well over two hours just to get inside. It was cold, a fight nearly erupted next to us, and more than half our group wanted to leave.
When we did finally enter, it was «fun» for the first three attractions. Not quite scary, but perhaps if it were less crowded and didn’t feel like a conga line, it could have been more frightening. Maybe. Midway through, half of our group left, they just couldn’t take the cold anymore, and were getting bored. They didn’t miss much; as the attractions went on, it was less and less impressive. Seemed as if there were less actors, lackluster props and effects, and the same tricks over and over. The best part was when we noticed the exit happened to be right near where we parked.
I still had a fun night out with my friends, but we will take our business elsewhere next time.

I have been to several of these haunted house attractions and this one was the worst one i have been to. Regular tickets were $ 50 and if you paid extra you could get vip tickets. I was a regular ticket holder and the line to get into the actual maze of attractions was 2 HOURS! Once we finally made it in there was 11 different haunted houses but there were very few actors that so many opportunities to be scared or have someone jump out at you were missed. Port a potties were few but there were some along the way in the maze. The only reason to get vip tickets is to avoid a ridiculously long entrance line but the attractions will make you feel like you got ripped off. Oh amd there was no one directing traffic when I pulled up, people were just parking where ever they could.

Im not easily scared so. Ehhhhh. But there was about 3 moments that got me. The ending was the best. Have fun.

Fantastic Scream Park! Tickets are a little pricey but it’s worth every penny. Each house has a different theme and some are a bit challenging to make it out of. I was terrified for my life every second of my time in these houses! The only con is the long line and wait to make it to the ticket booth. Even if you have pre purchased the tickets online. and the long line and wait to make it into the first haunted house.
TIP: Dress very warm and very comfortable! You may need to run or even bend down to make it out of some houses.

I’d like to say first of I’m the kind of person who finds the fun in ANYTHING! I always give the benefit of the doubt. But my experience tonight visiting Pure Terror Scream Park was nothing less than disappointing. From the very start I was angered. When I arrived the signs were not well lit and hard to figure out what was what. Then the only sign that was lit was a big «Cash Only» sign. This normally wouldn’t bother me but the ATM machine was down. The customer service was rude and gave us the solution to go to the bank down the road and they would give us a $ 5 rebate. After driving an hour and a half that is the last thing I wanted to hear. Taking 10 minutes to go online and order tickets led us to a line longer than the cash only line. And now on to the show. I have visited this attraction at both locations and with it being its third year at its current one I was hoping to see an awesome show! Alas It was long and boring! The first few attractions had barely any actors and the ones that were present seemed to be standing in the path staring at the passer bys and remaining in their way. The sets were remarkably unimpressive and the paths were uneven. It felt like crooked narrow corrodes going on for ever. There was NO handicap accessibly what so ever. It was one trip Hazard after another. I am a haunted attraction enthusiast and look for the animatronics to fill in where the actors and scenery fail. There were many throughout but the first two thirds of the haunt had nothing working. There was a lot not up and running and things unfinished everywhere. There was even a trail that the lights were off and they didn’t turn on until we reached the next attraction. I feel as if I missed a lot. The only saving grace was their extremely long pitch black attraction. But it too had a lack of actors. Then it was back into the abyss of unempressiveness. The last few attractions seemed to have more to them other than black particle board walls and press board fake brick panels and had more and intense actors. But it was too little too late. I had a sour taste from walking through 8 sub par attractions. In closing, if you advertise as 11 attractions and «The World’s Largest Outdoor Haunted Attraction» you should hire a lot more actors to fill them and put some effort into all of your attractions not just the last few. Not wort $ 50 per person, you are better off going for a hike in the woods for free.
I’d like to add that I have enjoyed this attraction in the past! And yes I do work for a haunt and only get one chance a year to go to visit other places and it was my first choice to go to Pure Terror. I could have gone anywhere but I know that Pure Terror can put on a pretty good show! With that said I know what goes into a good show and this is my honest review! My employer had no influence on this what so ever. I’m sorry that the owner of this establishment can not take a bad honest review and has to resort to calling me a trouble maker because I feel ripped off but if the truth hurts than fix it! In closing this is not in any way a «fake» review, I paid my money for 2 tickets and actually went and brought along 3 friends. (I could understand calling it fake if we didn’t visit) TOO BIG FOR THE AMOUNT OF ACTORS THEY HAVE!

We again this year and they had 11 attractions which sounds great but there was not enough people scaring you. A lot of it was just walking through stuff with little scares. Last year was so much better. I still love the place but the smaller scale was better or hire more actors.

This attraction was about an hour long, that was a plus. However we were the last group and it looked like some of the actors went on a smoke break or something cause we didn’t get scared as much in certain parts. The blacked out trail was awesome, wish they would have had some strobes and loud screams during that section. Halfway thru the course you stop at a donut station which needs upgrading lol. But overall pretty decent place.

Went here yesterday with the hubby and mother-in-law…its was awesome. The actors def scared me a couple of times, it was really fun! I got tix on groupon so instead of $ 44 at the door we paid $ 30 so that was another plus! I would rec coming here, but not with small kids because they will have nightmares. Teenagers, or if you have brave preteens I’d say, «Bring em!»

Holy sh*t. Maybe I spook easy, but I was screaming my head off walking through most of these houses. I was seriously freaked out in a couple of them.
Because I like to torture myself, I insisted on going to a haunted house to celebrate this Halloween. I looked at a couple of other options upstate, but most of them were pretty booked and reviews mentioned long wait times. So I settled on Pure Terror as my back up option since it was general admission, not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised.
We got there right when they opened at 7pm. There were already a good amount of people there, but once they opened, the lines moved pretty quickly. Word to the wise: once you go in, you are basically ushered from one house to the next, and there are no concessions or breaks in between. So, bring a bottle of water and a snack just in case. You’ll be in there for at least an hour and a half. There are port-​a-​potties between houses, however. When you’re done with the last house, there are several yummy food booths, but bring cash. I didn’t spot an atm.
I thought the first two houses were the scariest, but maybe I just got used to being on high alert by the third one. Still, the others will leave you totally freaked. That second one… toward the end… don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I wouldn’t say that this is kid-​friendly because it’s so scary, and there are lots of disturbing images and props. Buuuut there were kids there, and they didn’t seem too traumatized. I’d say it’s safe for 10 and up.
Give Pure Terror a try, you won’t regret it. Or will you!!!

Went to Pure Terror Screampark last night with my adult children. Got there at 7pm opening time and avoided the long lines! Have been to many many haunted houses throughout the years and this was by far the very best. 5 houses, all worth the forty dollar entry fee! Organized and the sets and costumes were awesome. If you go try to go on a sunday, as I read the lines were crazy on Saturday. Would definitely go back even at 40. per person. Dress warm, you are outside on the lines!

5 HAUNTED HOUSES IN ONE PLACE!!! How much better can it get? I love going to haunted houses. And this one was pretty cool. When we got there, there were NO LINE maybe because we went early October. I’m not sure how it is now but if you dont want to wait in line just buy the VIP pass and you can skip everyone.
I really enjoyed all the haunted houses. The Slaughterhouse was the only one that wasnt very scary and what is up with all these haunted houses putting some creep with a chainsaw at the end trying to scare you. Did not work on us! lol There was also one part where it was PITCH BLACK inside and they give you a green glow stick. I guess to help you see but even that is not enough. You have to try and make your way by touching the walls around you. I thought that was pretty cool because it only maade it scarier
so what are you waiting for!!! GO GO GOOOOOOOOOOOO lol

For starters, there were 4 of us (2 couples) wanting to go to the Headless Horseman Saturday night but the tickets were sold out online so we didn’t want to chance driving all the way there and getting turned away, so I found this place online.
— I ordered 4 tickets $ 20 each (with a $ 3 service charge for ordering them online) for 9 pm. We showed up at our designated time frame to only find out that there was at least an hour and a half wait time just to get into the 1^st haunted house. So the guy taking our tickets suggested we buy the Speed Pass which was another $ 10 more. This pass allows you to skip the wait and go directly to the front of the line of all 3 houses. (Normally I would have said forget it and waited it out, but I left my 8 month old daughter at my parents house for the night, and we were about an hour away from home, SO I didn’t want to risk getting stuck there really late and picking her up at 1 am) We opted to but the Speed Pass.
— Next step was to go through ‘security’. What a joke that was. The guy with the metal detector wand checked me up and down but didn’t check people behind me (and I know this bc I was standing off to the side waiting for my brother and his gf to buy their speed pass ticket).
— Now we were through security and excited to jump the line and go directly into the house… THERE WERE NO SIGNS DIRECTING YOU WHERE TO GO! A lot of people (including us) were walking around the building by the bathrooms trying to figure out how the Speed Pass people get to the front of the line. We decided to follow everyone else and just wing it. (It had rained pretty heavily the day before and the ground was really muddy) The first 5 feet had ply wood boards then MUD!!! Thick and Slippery mud — at least 4 times I thought I was going to fall not to mention there was no lighting over in this area. It was pretty dangerous.
So now we were waiting on the same line as everyone one else and noticed a bunch of people jumping over the orange fence and walking in the grass to the guy taking your tickets. So we did the same and asked him if that was where we should have been since we had the speed pass (and it was).
— Once you walk past the security guy, you are directed to the 1^st haunted house. We finally found a sign that said SPEED PASS! (aahhhh) As we approached our line I noticed the people standing in line were what I can only describe as rude and obnoxious bc they kept chanting «Speedoooo and Speed Pass SUCKS» … are we at a sports game or a haunted house people?! I mean really… GROW UP!!!
— We had about 6 people in front of us and there was this guy who was dressed up like a bloody redneck clown that was walking up and down the line. He came over to us and was holding a fish bowl of maggots in it, yes MAGGOTS and told us to sniff the bowl. –DISGUSTING– Then he immediately proceeded to eat one in front of us … –GROSS– The when he walked away he threw one at us.. . okay, I know I’m here for a haunted house and to be scared, but that was just a total d*ck move.. . seriously, WHO DOES THAT?!
— OKAY, NOW WE GOT TO GO INTO THE HAUNTED HOUSE… 1^st of all bc of the huge line, they let groups go in in what seems like 10 seconds intervals bc within minutes you’re caught up to the people in front of you. Because of this, any ‘monsters’ that are lurking in the house are not scarey — I pretty much knew what was coming. With that said, this house was lame. Very lame. If there were a dozen live actors in there that was a lot. It was filled with really fake looking creatures. Every ‘hallway’ if you want to call it that was just like the next. It was very repetitive. The only few times I screamed was at the loud banging noise from an air machine. The setup and decorations just lacked on every level.
— The 2^nd house is supposed to be a 3-​D clown house. There was nothing 3-​D about it. I hate clowns, so of course I found them to be creepy, but that’s only bc I hate clowns. The clown actors really get in your face too and feed off the scared people. If you want to be left alone, just laugh at them.
— The 3^rd house was the Slaughter house. I think were were maybe a dozen actors in this house. It had more hanging fake dead pigs than anything. This house also REEKED of death and crap! IDK if they painted the walls with real poo but that’s what it sure smelled like. SPOILER ALERT: STOP READING NOW IF YOU PLAN ON GOING HERE AND DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END …
— Lastly like all haunted houses there is usually a guy with a chainsaw. (normally he hangs our by the exit for scare tactics and common sense reasons ie: the fumes…) NOT HERE!!! The chain saw guy is towards the very end but is in the house. SO you are over come by the smell of gasoline. NOT SMART Mr Chainsaw man!
Overall, it was a waste of time, money and gas going here. If you want a good haunted house, go to the Headless Horseman in Ulster County. It’s way more organized there and every haunted house there
