Established in 1994.

Star Wines & Liquors was established in 1994 when the 2 Alans, Alan Short and Alan Glass, decided to go into business together. With Alan Short’s business skills and Alan Glass’ wine knowledge, they hatched a plan to open the best retail store in the lower hudson valley.

Introduced to each other by their wives, the 2 Alans became fast friends and great business partners. They worked together to expand the business as the community grew. From their first 2500 square foot store to the current 10,000 square foot store, Star prides itself on it’s large selection at low prices.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Alan S. came to NY in 1981 to pursue a career as VP of Finance of a large produce company. Married with 1 son, Alan S. has a Masters in Finance from Fairleigh Dickenson University.

A golf enthusiast, avid traveler and wine lover, Alan S. is President and CEO of Star Wines & Liquors.

I ordered four bottles of wine (2 Italian, 2 French) as a business «thank you,» and am quite pleased with the website, the shipping, and the overall transaction. I knew which wines I wanted, and after much research, decided on Star Wines because they have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, they seemed customer-​service oriented, and they stated on their site that they send you a confirmation of your order with a tracking number and expected date of delivery (they did, and it was delivered as promised). If you go on their «About Us» page, they offer customized gift baskets and free gift wrapping. I did not call them for either service, but liked that these options were available. They ship to most, but not all states. The excluded states are listed on their «Shipping Info/​Returns» page. They can deliver to California, so that worked for me. The recipients of the wine seemed pleased. One of them was a fine wine consultant and broker for 11 years, and she said that, «I absolutely appreciate these wines and understand how fantastic they are!» So if the recipients are happy, I’m happy, and I thank Star Wines for playing a role in that!

I’m from Southern California and looked around five different Asian markets for this a certain type of Whiskey. After doing an extensive Google search, I found a few places that sold it, but not ONE would ship at all. Star Wines & Liquors had them in stock and shipped it fast.
