Vieux Carre Market is another hidden gem in Monroe! It’s a small casual eatery and specialty grocery store. The store is located on 18th Street in the Murray Place Shopping Center next to Fred’s and Tuesday Morning. Ample parking is available in front of the store. Upon entering the store, I was happily greeted by the sweetest gal. She was really helpful in explaining things to me and answering my questions. She even gave me copies of the lunch and dinner menu for reference. The front of the store had a wall displaying all sorts of wines and a refrigerated section with unique craft beers and wines. Throughout the store were shelves of gourmet snacks, gourmet meats and cheese, jars of goodies(honey, pickled veggies, jelly, peanut butter), artisan chocolates, vinegars, and dried herbs and gourmet mushrooms for cooking. There are 3 varieties of freshly ground coffee beans to choose from for your caffeine addiction. In-house peanut butter and gelato(strawberry, vanilla bean, chocolate, and cookies & cream) are available for purchase. Bread is also baked fresh daily– today’s selection consisted of pita, ciabatta, baguette, and brioche buns. The deli/meat counter is also near the rear of the store, which offers specialty fresh and prepared meats, as well as seafood. Selection varies daily. Towards the rear of the store is the dining area, with an open kitchen area. Most patrons dine-in for lunch or can easily take meals to-go. They feature a private room in the back area that can be rented out for small groups or parties(up to 12). Based on fellow Unilocalers’ reviews, I ordered the wagyu cheeseburger to go and was really glad I did! The burger was cooked to perfection and the meat was intensely flavorful and moist all on its own– condiments were not needed. What made the burger even more outstanding was the freshly baked brioche bun– the sweet bun and savory burger were a perfect match made in foodie heaven. I’m definitely looking forward to my next visit to pickup some of their craft beers, in-house peanut butter and gelato and other gourmet goodies. And after looking at the menu, I will make sure to come here for lunch/dinner soon. Vieux Carre Market, I am very happy to have found you and I hope the rest of the community realizes how truly awesome ya’ll are too!

I will be back. The wagu burger was possibly the best I have ever had. The service was great and the limited menu was delectable. The strawberry cake was made in house and was a good finish to the meal. The only drawback to the restaurant is the fact they aren’t open for supper.

Always a great experience here! You will never be disappointed with your meal, your cut of steak, or the amazing sides! After you try the andouille dogs then the pblt or wagyu burger, you can pick up dinner with several choices(steak, sausage, fish, and chicken).

Decided to finally check this place out and was blown away by the quality of food and service. I ordered the boudin snack and the PBLT. No disappointments here. And after my meal, my server, Leslie, helped me out with wine selection. Great food, friendly staff, and awesome wine choices. What more could you ask for?
