I come to this place from time to time when my fiancé and I stock pile all of our recycled items(have to save for the wedding somehow). This place is on Duarte Rd and is a pretty small place. The building is a brownish color and seems to blend in with the other businesses on this street, so be careful because you may end up missing this place like we do almost every time we come here. This place is convenient to us and we never have to wait too long to get served when we come in the afternoons on any given day. The workers here are pretty friendly and when you make the mistake of putting the wrong recycled items together(the numbers on the bottom of bottles actually means something) they just fix the problem and tell you not to do it again. I was a little surprised to hear from a previous Unilocaler that this recycling center does not pay out well, but compared to the place we used to go in Long Beach(At CSULB), this place seems to pay out much better. Oh and yes this place does accept electronic waste(but you don’t get any money for it). Parking is limited, with only 2 or 3 parking spots out in front, but there is also street parking. But I don’t foresee parking to be a big problem since people are in and out. Oh and one last thing, this place lets you keep the plastic caps on bottles when you recycle. Other places I’ve been to make you take them off. So maybe that gives you a little bit more of a pay out? Will come back here again when we run out of space to house our recycled bottles and cans.

Went here because it is convenient and they help you sort your recycling. But they do not pay out well. At the time the average in town was $ 2.20 per pound. They only gave me $ 1.57. Not good.

There’s actually a recycling center closer to my house, one that’s larger and perhaps more bang-for-your-buck. But that also means it’s more crowded and slower. Father Earth Recycling Center is located on the same street(Duarte), but more in a secluded area of town. When our family arrived here Monday afternoon, we drove right on in and were served right away by two staffers. Nice, since we brought a lot to recycle. They weigh and then pay. At the time of my visit, they paid $ 0.93/lb for plastic bottles and $ 1.54/lb for aluminum cans. I believe the Monrovia Recycling Center pays a bit more for their recyclable metals, but everything here went by fast and smoothly. Paid out in cash. Ah, it sure does pay to help Mother Earth… or is it Father Earth? Perhaps the only gripe I have are their hours aren’t long enough. I mean, it’s not a problem for me, but perhaps for other people it find it a bit inconvenient. Father Earth Recycling also collects electronic waste like televisions and computers. I don’t know the details about that, but that’s what’s stated on their website.
