Delicate cuisine from careful procurement. Very delicious. The wine pairing with meticulous dining combination intertwined with jazzy crescendos created a very memorable evening. The charcuterie is a must try. The lolli pop pork belly, to me, will be an imperative to recreate this memory every time I visit SOW.
Ask for the drink called «Vanessa.» It’s spicy and sour and she has a little bit of bite after the sweet residual.

i’m really happy i found this place. I believe this is a new place on myrtle and we walked in close to their closing time. but still was able to get seated.

Short rib agnolotti: meh, you can skip this dish
Pork belly lollipop: very delicious. not too filling, but the taste was superb.
Fig leaf pizza: (if you only get one item, get this. the flavors were insane. the goat cheese and prosciutto and sweet figs all went together very very well)

as with all places on myrtle, street parking is sparse, but there are parking lots behind the businesses.

Me and my wife dined here on a Friday night. This was our first time here and decided to try it based on Unilocal reviews.
Walking in I was greeted by the hostess who gave us the option to sit in the bar area or the dining area. We opted for the bar area.
Pros: great food. I had the burger which came out perfect with really good fries. She had the heirloom pizza which is a really good size. I’d recommend as a great appetizer for a group of four or six. The pizza was also delicious, in fact we just reheated the second half which she couldn’t finish and had it which reminded me to do this review. Pricing is reasonable for the caliber of food. Portions are very filling.
Cons: service. The waitstaff were good when they actually came to the table but they don’t visit enough. For instance once we were seated our waitress took our drink order. Upon returning with the drinks (waters) we placed our order. From the time of placing the order till the food came out (about 20 mins which is fine since the pizza takes a while but is worth the wait) we didn’t see any waitstaff again despite our drinks being emptied. Experienced the same wait from the time we got the bill, which I was pulling out my credit card for, till the time they picked it up was about 10 mins.
Overall good place, just wish the waitstaff would check in on the tables a little more frequently. (otherwise they were great)

So my wife and I have been here a few times and this is definitely our new Saturday brunch spot? EVERYTHING about it is amazing! Service, food, atmosphere. Everyone makes you feel so comfortable and is very attentive! We’re upset we didn’t try this place earlier because we’ve had our eye on it for a while! Seriously you will not regret going. We usually have the same server, Ernesto, and he is sooooooo amazing. Makes good conversation and always wants to make sure everything is okay and if anything is needed. So you can definitely catch us here every Saturday at 11am! Oh, and the crab cakes and mimosas are to die for!

I’ve come here several times with friends. They had a bit of a rocky start, but they’ve gotten things together and it is really my go to place when I want a cocktail. They have the best cocktails in Monrovia hands down. My favorite appetizers are the pork belly lollipops and truffle fries and my favorite entrée would be a toss between the lamb shank and the Mary’s chicken— I’ve never been disappointed… so delicious! Service is always fantastic and they have great live music. Make sure to check it out when you’re in the area.

server also stated to me at the door was that is was 15oz. please look at my photo and tell me where the bone is and if the paper thin prime rib looks like a 15oz to you.
I asked the server why my prime rib was not bone-​in as stated.
explanation was that it was cooked on a bone and cut off the bone when served.
I have never been to ANY restaurant where the menu stated Bone-​in, but was served without the bone or even mislead by what the size of the beef was supposed to be. Such a scapegoat answer.
No respectable restaurant will ever get any business if they pulled a trick or scapegoat answer like that.
then for dessert it was a deconstructed irish car bomb with bourbon ice cream. I asked the server wheres the ice cream. She stated it was supposed to be between the chocolate chip cookie. Except what was there was a drizzle of MELTED «ice cream.» Could have fooled me. I thought Ice cream meant still in its frozen state, not liquid state. Maybe thats just me.
Overall felt mislead and given bad excuses after inquiring bout the food.
Mislead on size of prime rib, mislead on a boneless prime rib when its supposed to be Bone-​in, and mislead on dessert description.
As if they did not want returning customers.

Over all fail. This restaurant was actually good prior to the grand opening. What happened. Such different quality from the White Horse Lounge (which is operated by same

The food was great before prior to today’s lack of quality and care. Who was at the pass and does the Owner know whats going on in this restaurant?

First, thanks to Erik, Jared, Jessica, and Daisy for taking care of us, it was a wonderful experience, superb service, and delicious food!
Started off with the wedge salad and pork belly pops from the happy hour menu, items were $ 5, great deal. the wedge was standard, pork belly pops were a good size and tasty.
Moved on to the FIG LEAF PIZZA which was outstanding, just enough goat cheese and prosciutto and sweet figs, nice balance, try it with a organic cabernet. don’t ignore this one, it’s sooooo good! I’ll be coming back for it soon even though I live over 30 miles away.
Also shared the BLUE RIBBON BURGER which reminded me of a bacon western cheeseburger times 100. it was delicious, one of the best burgers I had in a while. Good sized patty, onion ring, sweet BBQ sauce, thick sliced bacon on a brioche bun.
Hubby said the honey blond beer was good and my organic cabernet on the happy hour menu was perfect with everything we ate.
Be aware lunch stops at 2:30pm and dinner starts at 5:00pm so your option between that time is happy hour in the bar.

Second time here. Second time being satisfied again. :)

Started with an draft IPA beer, 10 barrel, tasty! Then had the blue ribbon burger (juicy patty!) and the sausage and mushroom pizza. Both so good!

This was my second visit to Sow House, and I still don’t feel like I could call it one of my «go to» places. The remodel they did feels cold and unwelcoming to me. They moved the entrance to the door fronting Myrtle, however the side door that everyone is used to using remains open because so many people get confused by the change.
While the food was okay, I’ve had better at other places in Old Town Monrovia. My husband ordered the mushroom pasta and I had the roasted chicken. Both of us liked it well enough, but it was pretty non-​descript. We had amazing service and like to have this as an option to our regular spots, but I don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon. I miss Café Opera!

I came here with a few friends from work on Friday ⁵⁄₂₇ for lunch. It was the Friday before Memorial Day Holiday weekend so we thought we should go out for lunch instead of sticking around at the office. We were regulars of Opera which used to be at this location before Sow House took over.
We had a party of 5 and as soon as we entered we told the hostess that 3 more people were coming. At first she said that she would put 2 tables together, but another lady said to place us at a table for 4 and stick a chair at the end. The table she suggested was right by the entrance which would be uncomfortable for the person sitting at the end so we asked if we could sit at the other end so there would be less foot traffic. We made our male coworker sit at the end. It was kind of cramped with all the plates and glasses, but it was doable.
We ordered the following from the lunch menu:

The bread they give you at the beginning is piping hot and delicious.
One of my friends and I were going to split the burger and pizza. The pizza came out last so we tried the burger first. We asked for medium-​well, but it came out medium to me. The burger was good in terms of flavor and I liked the Brioche bun as well.
Once the pizza came out everyone was half-​way done with their food. I tried it and wanted to spit it out. It was SO SALTY. I guess the salt was coming from both the Béchamel and the sausage, but it was almost inedible to me. Maybe they spilled salt into by accident or something (who knows). If it had some red sauce or something on it, it may have helped. I thought the crust was really hard to bite into. My friend tried a piece too and the first thing she said was «wow, salty.» Since I already ate half a burger, I was already full anyway so after 2 bites of pizza I was done with it. My friend ended up taking it home with her.
Our server was Lauryn and I thought she was nice and did a good job. Overall, my first experience here had some pros and cons. If I were to come again, I would not order the pizzas again though.

Was brought here on a double date last week and really enjoyed my self. First off great happy hour deals every day in the bar– even weekends! I loved the open classy atmosphere, live music, and they even had a projector casting images up onto one of their brick walls. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was also delicious. I had the soup of the day and their pork belly (good flavor but sadly dry :/​), my husband had a small pizza which was awesome. The crab cakes are to die for and the burgers look super tasty. The pricing for the food is pretty average for a nice dinner place ranging 12 – 25 $ depending on what you get.
My one side disclaimer: The small plates are defiantly not meal worthy– they probably wouldn’t be enough to feed your child. The pork belly only came in 4 very small cubes. The crab cakes although to die for are also just 3 small cubes. Big emphasis on the SMALL part of the plates.

Second time here for happy hour. HH menu expanded, almost all bites are $ 5 each, cool.
While price is wallet friendly, quality is just mediocre
Cardini is a lack-​of-​seasonings Caesar salad.
Wedge salad has nothing stand out.
Pork belly lollipop isn’t ready to serve. Meat isn’t well braised, tough while eating
Tempura cauliflower is too soggy, because they put too much buffalo sauce, tempura batter turns soggy.
Grilled mozzarella too dry, sauce couldn’t soften it.
Best dish tonight is crab cakes. For only $ 5, we receive a plate of three big crab cakes. Real crab meat, Creamy sauce, fried to crispy outside. Very enjoyable. I don’t mind get this happy hour crab cakes again.

Once again, Kenneth and the rest of the Sow House Monrovia gang killed it. The food, drinks, and people are wonderful. Highly suggested!

Based on the reviews, I was very disappointed with my experience. We started off with the Mac n cheese and bone marrow for appetizers and both came out cold. The cheese wasn’t even melted on the mac. We spoke with the general manager and he replaced both. The second round still came out luke warm but we said what the hell. For entrees, we ordered the the salmon and apple wood bacon pizza. Again, the pizza and the rice that came with the salmon COLD. My fiancée even made the GM touch the food. AGAIN, we had to have it replaced. I’m not sure if something was wrong with their oven and stove but man…
The GM offered to take the entrees off the bill and offered us complementry dessert. I ordered the crème brûlée without whip and guess what? It came with whip. At this point, I just wanted to get out of there. Their lack of attention to detail made it a frustrating night.

We didn’t make a reservation, when we arrive the inside seats were full, so we sat outside the restaurant. The server is very attentive, brought us water and bread. The bread is pretty good with salt/​butter spread on the side, though I feel sea salt was a bit too much. Simple butter spread would suffice. I think having the option of olive oil/​balsamic vinegar would be better.
We ordered a butternut squash soup (soup of the day), fig pizza, steak/​fries, and oyster mushroom pasta. The food took a while to come out, and it’s pretty understandable since it’s during rush hour. Butternut squash Soup came first, it was amazing, and the presentation was pleasant. We waited about 30 mins for all our other food orders to arrive. Steak was juicy and tender, the cut of the meat was cooked well, the pesto sauce is a good match with the steak. The fries are pretty good as well.
The oyster mushroom pasta was flavorful and mushrooms taste very juicy and fresh, but it was a bit dry on the sauce part. Fig pizza has too much goat cheese unevenly spread out on the pizza. I personally am not fond of goat cheese due to its strong acidic cheese flavor, so I didn’t find the pizza appealing to my taste, and I feel there could be bigger fig pieces on the pizza.
My overall experience was pleasant, sitting outside was a better decision, because inside the restaurant is quite loud during dinner hour. As for Unilocal star rating, I think the service was a 5/​5, food is about 3.5÷5, and environment is ⁴⁄₅. Above average rating in my opinion.

5 star for the steak frite
2 star for the mushroom & sausage pizza — super duper dry with only 4 – 5 small pieces of ground sausage (which is tasty) & 1 – 3 pieces of mushrooms per slice. Plus it looked like someone bit into a slice of my pizza– hell NO! If you know me you know what a BIG Germophobe I am!
1 star — service sucked, our waiter sucked — didn’t give us any napkins and had to ask for utensils after the food was brought
My drink was strong n good but –asked our waiter to recommend the prettiest drink — look @ my pic it’s a fail plus the bartender came and said how do you like our version of a margarita. .wtf if I knew it was a margarita i wouldn’t have got it. $ 10 for a margarita no thanks!

The set up for the restaurant is trendy, in a rusty modern style, wood panel, red brick wall, and concrete floor, three of my favorite elements as interior decorating. Of course the full lounge/​bar was another reason Sow house draws my attention and interest.
The cocktail list has quite a variety, I had The forbidden and my lady had a more fruity Desert Flower, both were rocking!
We ordered must have Pork belly lollipop for appetizer, and Orlanana salad composed by baby arugula, burrata cheese, beet, tomato, and brown sugar coated nuts, simply awesome, amazing and generous in size. They even spliced the dish into two for us.
Main entrée is the best lamb shank I ever have… It was tender, juicy and the best part was the extra kick in fast from the horseradish mesh tomato accompanied with the shank.
Definitely coming back soon…

I love this place. It’s local for me and I’ve always had amazing service and food here. I can’t complain. I even called the chef to compliment him on his work.
FOOD:
Pork Belly — This was amazing. You get four juicy pork bellies, but wow. They are worth each bite. So savory and juicy. The meat is cooked really well.
Lobster Mac N Cheese — Get this. GET THIS. Just get this. The lobster comes in chunks, so you will get lobster. None of this — where is the lobster crap. It’s so creamy and that’s how I love my cheese. Not overcooked cheese. WHO DOES THAT? This cheese was creamy and wasn’t overpowering for the macaroni.
Crab cakes — pretty good. I just came back from Maryland where the crab cakes are f*cking amazing. So this was pretty good for California. It was soft and definitely didn’t taste like it was frozen prior, so that’s a good thing.
Salmon — really good as well, but not memoriable.
DESSERT
Break f*cking pudding — YES. It comes with ice cream and cream… it was delicious. I’m a HUGE breadpudding fan. It was moist as well.
Tiramisu — in a cup! So cute! Very good… but reallllly powdery on top.
DRINKS:
Not a fan of The Desert Flower — extremely bitter to my taste
Get the alcoholic root beer… omg.
SERVICE:
Excellent. First time I had this guy — Brian or Jason. Really nice. Very courteous. Answered our questions. Extremely patient with me cuz I ask a lot of questions.
Second time, this gorgeous Eva Mendez lookalike! Total sweetheart. She even got my husband and I dessert cuz we were celebrating our anniversary!
AMBIANCE:
Gorgeous setting. I’m really happy it came to Monrovia. It’s perfect for a date or just with friends. They have live music sometimes too. Great bar setting too.

This place is not only beautiful it has had amazing service! Corey helped me with great recommendations and was so nice. I had the pork lollipops and they were delicious. Dine in for cocktails or a nice dinner and you won’t be disappointed. And if Corey is your server than you lucked out!

Very nice new place in Monrovia. Food was quite good, service was great. I wish they had a larger selection of wines by the glass. They gave us 10% off for being Unilocalers!
There was a young, very well behaved child there but I wouldn’t bring my kid here. It’s pretty upscale with trendy food, there isn’t much on the menu I think anyone under 12 would be interested in!

Visited this place during lent with friends. We shared lobster mac, brussel sprouts, Bodega Bay Cioppino, sweet potato fries and loved it all. Chef Justin made sure to pass by every table to thank each guest. When he stopped at our table, we mentioned that we wanted to order another item but weren’t sure what to order because we weren’t too hungry but wanted a small plate. Since one of us couldn’t eat meat, he offered to make something for us that wasn’t on the menu. Within a few minutes, he personally returned to the table with three delicious dishes. The 3 of us plan to come back again once lent is over to enjoy and explore the rest of the menu.

Sorry, I forgot the actual name. It’s inspired by common Hawaiian pizza (like ham and pineapple), but instead of ham, they choose to use soy glaze pork belly to make it fancier. Here is the problem, this pork belly doesn’t really match with pineapple and tomato sauce base. It’s a weird pizza…
Afterall, we were there for happy hour, 2 entrees for 1. Very great deal thou.

Excellent bar staff! Great selection of bourbons, whiskeys, and scotch. Had a wonderful meal and fantastic service. We will definitely be back again. Thank you!

We just moved to Monrovia and discovered this place while exploring old town. Man, what a great experience! The food was amazing. To start, we had a tasty brie dish and a plate of sauteed brussel sprouts (with bacon of course) We ordered lamb and a wonderful plate paella. Our server, Evylynn, was super nice and answered all of our questions about the menu. We look forward to our next time.

This was our second stop of the night and should have been our first. We enjoyed expertly crafted Manhattans made by Kenneth. The service was spot on, Jared was very attentive and made a great recommendation on the vanilla lavender honey crème brulle. Will definitely be back

I came here for a girls night out on a Saturday evening. The ambience was vibrant. The staff was all very friendly and attentive.
The food was delicious, especially the lobster mac n cheese.
Our server, Corey was amazing. He made sure that our every need and request was met. I will definitely come back again!

My friends and I had dinner here last weekend and had the best time we’ve had in a long time. We ordered the lobster mac n cheese to share and i was so so good. I usually think gourmet mac n cheese is over rated but this one was delicious. It was the perfect ambiance for a girls night dinner. Corey was our server and hit all the marks with his recommendations. We will definitely be back and will ask to sit in his section.

Food was Excellent, pizza «pies» also make a good appetizer, try the mushroom & sausage, which has a white cream sauce and a light thin crust! Our server Evelyn was great too!
If you like to drink Old Fashioned, try their Man Up cocktail! Super good!

Sow House is an amazing addition to the wonderful restaurants in Monrovia. The food is outstanding, the drinks are delicious and strong and the service is exceptional. Evelyn was wonderful! It is great when a restaurant can accommodate for allergies while serving fabulous and delicious food.

I went with my good friend to this place because we heard it was new and personally I love going to new places. The ambience is really nice and the food was delicious. I had the lemonade cocktail and it was sooooo good; my friend had the sucker punch, I believe that’s what it’s called. We both had the wedge and it’s something I’ve never seen before but I really liked it. Our server, Jared, gave excellent service. He kept checking on us and asked if everything is okay. Overall, I really love the place and I will definitely be back.

Pork belly, truffle fries, pork chop, lamb chop (⁷⁄₁₀) the pork belly was really tender and well marinated. The truffles fries were AMAZING! Although the chance of there being really truffle is low, but the taste of the truffle was apparent. Would definitely recommend getting the fries as an appetizer. The pork chop and lamb chops were both tender and great tasting but they both seemed a bit dry in some areas.

Stopped in for a quick bite. Our server Corey was helpful and friendly! He suggest the Lamb Shank and Salmon and my girlfriend and I split just that :) They had an alright tap selection. I had the Space Dust IPA which was great. My girlfriend had a cocktail called «Man Up» and loved it! Looks like this place is new to Old Town Monrovia… We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

I was scrolling through Unilocal & stumbled on this restaurant so I decided to do the reservations online for my anniversary with my BF & this location just opened so I thought why not?
Location has PLENTY of parking spots & we parked in a parking lot across of the police station. The atmosphere inside has 2 sides (2 areas): one for bar & smaller high tables that seat 2 people & the other side is a sit down, nice dinner scene with live music playing.
BODEGA BAY CIOPPINO ($ 28): I thought the price was a bit high for the amount of food I got. It would have tasted better if there was a bit of pasta in there. The seafood was good & I appreciated the fact that the broth didn’t overpower the entire dish or drown the rest of the food but it was not too fulfilling. I weigh 105 pounds & I was still hungry & probably could have eaten a bowl of noodles after that. (Pretty sure that was on purpose so you can order dessert) but overall, it wasn’t anything different from other restaurants.
The scenery was nice. Candle lit dinner with live music but the food didn’t stand out to the point where I could «put this experience in the books.» I would say try it but maybe wouldn’t be a second trip.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I feel that consumers should know that the food that comes out of the kitchen is different from what is described in the menu at this establishment.
First of all, our food took over an hour to arrive. The server kept walking by, and a couple times she even told us it was coming up, but clearly it was not, as we had to continue waiting for a long time.
The most frustrating thing was that an item that was marked on the menu as being vegan came out with bacon and cheese all over it (after an hour watiting for it). Most people would probably not take issue with this, but I am unable to have any dairy products whatsoever and expect that when something is marked on the menu as being vegan, that I am free and clear to have it. The plate was sent back, only to be remade incorrectly again. Why can’t things just be what they say they are on the menu?
I realize this place is relatively new, and I can normally forgive places that just need to work out the kinks… but rather than correct the problem or even admit that a great error was occuring, the manager apologized and then in a pretty back-​handed way told us that we were wrong. When something like this happens, making the customers feel that they are at fault is definitely not a good approach, nor does it solve any problems. I double checked the menu as we went past the host station as we were on the way out, and saw that indeed, the item was labeled vegan. So frustrating on many levels.

We got reservations there for a pre-Valentine’s dinner (someone cancelled, we swooped in, bam — everyone’s happy!) Decided to pass on their preset $ 200 per couple menu and went with a la carte.
I picked halibut, which was very tender and cooked perfectly, mounted on the yummy bed of spinach and french shallots, garnished with freshly baked potato chips. My partner went with prime rib. Unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate his order at that particular time, so they offered filet mignon instead. Well, we rolled with it. The steak came with a baked, but slightly cold potato right when the manager/​owner was making his rounds and asked us how everything was. That was the perfect chance for me to complain; needless to say, I got a steaming hot potato from the kitchen (and if you are saying to yourself: wait a minute, I thought HE got the potato, you are perfectly right; but it was still cold!).
The portions were the way portions in a nice restaurant should be: enough to savor, enjoy and fill one person, AND leave them with no second thoughts on ordering dessert :) Which we were more than happy to do, but they had none of the two options declared on the menu! That was actually sad, as we wanted to stay longer and enjoy beautiful live music, amazing interior and each others’ company. They did give us our only option for that night: lemon cake. We were not too hot on it and our waiter wasn’t really selling it, but what are you gonna do? When I asked to pair my slice with an «extra hot cappuccino», I heard these icy cold words: «Sorry, we only have regular coffee». Well, that was our clue!
We ran over to Merengue across the street where I happily consumed cappuccino from a paper cup and dulce de leche from a paper plate, but this is another review :) All in all, we had a nice experience, though $ 100 for two was a little more than we expected. There is definitely a cheaper way to do a Sow House — NOT on a Valentine’s night :) I’ll come back to try their crème brûlée AFTER they open an espresso bar!

This place was GREAT. excellent drinks – especially the Man Up. Ordered two of them. The food was great, ordered the desert flower and pork belly lollipops… so good. Well balanced. The service was top-​shelf. They were so attentive, not pushy. Paid great attention to our kids as well. Rare qualities.

Went there on a whim last night and were kind of disappointed with the food. The atmosphere is wonderful with the large windows to look out on the street. Décor is tasteful and l love that the tables are not too close together. The hostess and server were both friendly and polite.
The food however was a huge disappointment. My husband got the beet salad. I’m not kidding when I say it had 4 slivers of beet and a little cheese. The rest was a pile of greens with dressing that was nothing exciting.
I got the scallops. That dish had a little too much going on. The scallops were way over seasoned, over cooked and chewy. Could barely taste them over the salty bacon and reduction sauce/​glaze.
The pork belly lollipops were acceptable, but could’ve used a couple more on that plate.
It’s a lovely place if they can get their cooking skills sorted out.

I recreated my Unilocal account just to share how great of an experience I had here.
For starters, the décor was aesthetically pleasing. Dinner here could really fit any occasion. The service here was exceptional. Our server was very attentive and kind. The manager and chef even checked on our table during our dinner service.
I came on a Sunday evening with a fairly large group. With that being said I was able to taste a bit of everyone’s plate. The pork belly lollipops were delicious! I was a bit hesitate at first because I’m not a fan of pork but it was so tender and it melts in your mouth. The lobster Mac exceeded my expectations. It was very creamy and the lobster flavor was present but not overpowering. I’m a big fan of the truffle fries at their sister location (White Horse located in Old Town Pasadena off of De Lacey) and I was just as pleased with them at this location. If you are a fan of garlic they are a must have! Their San Marzano and Mushroom & Sausage (pizza) pies had just the right amount of crunch. The ingredients tasted fresh and I really liked how they were a shareable size.
For dessert we had the «chocolate» which was very rich! If you are a hardcore chocolate lover than that’s the dessert for you! I really enjoyed their slice of heaven which was their pie of the month. That was without a doubt the best slice of pie I ever had. I really regret not asking the the name of the pie but if that pie was that good I’m sure their others are just as tasty.
Their cocktail selection is brilliant! You will not find a selection as unique as their selection. I had the sucker punch, the forbidden, and a clockwork orange. If you like creamy beverages then a clockwork orange is a must have!
I will definitely be coming back!

Last Saturday night, I spent two hours at Sow House with my son. I don’t really understand some other reviews complaint about the service here. In such cozy, warm place should we slow down our busy life for a little bit? Enjoy food, enjoy music, enjoy the time with people who we love?
That night Patrick, Joshua, and Erik served and touched our table couple times. They are so friendly, not only to me but also to my son.
Oh by the way, I was heard Erik explained wine to the table next to me, he is professional sommelier.
Food was delicious. I ordered wild forest mushroom, steamer, and ribeye. Everything just perfect.
Saturday night they have live music. I like the musician. He touched every table, collecting songs to play. It was so nice to here someone play the song you like in front of you, just for you feel is so good.
Overall, I like this restaurant, like their friendly server, though they might not 100% perfect, but none of us are perfect right? Take it easy.

The service was good, the food was ok, but what really needs to improve here is aligning the quality of product with the theme of the restaurant. It’s very clear this place is focused on the idea of «local, organic, grass fed, etc.» That’s great! But it can’t take precedence over the quality of your product. Read the menu; the detailed description of the steak tells you where its from, and practically introduces you to the cows name, but doesn’t tell you at all how it’s prepared, seasoned, or served. It tasted mediocre. My wife ordered the fig/​goat cheese/​prosciutto flatbread. What was served was more akin to a Chicago deep dish, even including a marinara sauce? It was greasy and heavy, not light and tasty. Fortunately it was compted– extra star for good service.
I feel like this place spent a lot of time and money towards the atmosphere and appeal of being earthy and organic, but the quality of product needs to catch up. At least it’s better than the new joint in the Aztec Hotel.

I wish I could give a better review… but it was way overpriced and mediocre quality food… I really wanted to like it… as our waiter was very nice and our cocktails were pretty good… hopefully it gets better as time goes on… but I’m afraid I won’t be back…

This place is awesome. The décor is beautiful, and I love the stage. Live music on the weekends — yes please!
As for the food, I’m a big fan of the pork belly lollipops as well as the lamb shank. Drinks are phenomenal — yes, they have some weird ingredients, but just ask the bartenders about them. These are craft cocktails that are not only highly original, but also medicinal.
The servers here are really sweet. The manager and the chef both come by and talk to the tables.
I will certainly be back!

FOOD QUALITY:
The food here is good with adequate portions. Dishes of the night were the Salmon and Lamb Shanks, both of which were great but I preferred the lamb shanks. It’s one huge shank with an abundance of sweet, and not gamy, meat that sits on top of savory, buttery seasoned mash with light, earthy cauliflower; and a cabernet sauce that binds all those flavors together.
Salmon was very slightly overcooked, but had a nice crisp on the top that was served with buttery, garlic basmati rice.
SERVICE:
Even disregarding the price point the service was terrible. Our food took more than 45 minutes to be served and the restaurant wasn’t even filled up completely. What was highly disappointing was that the waiters and waitresses didn’t do anything — didn’t bring any extra bread, didn’t apologize for the long wait for the food, and didn’t refill our waters unless we asked. We tried really hard to not finish our wines just to put something into our stomachs.
ENVIRONMENT:
Dimlit, warm, and pretty comfortable. I could see it get really loud due to the high ceilings and open environment. But come on an off-​time and it’ll make for a perfect date spot if you don’t mind waiting for an absurd amount of time for food to come out.
Overall, this place is a large let down and I’m sad to see other reviewers have had to deal with bad service here.

We had dinner here on New Years Eve which for a lot of restaurants can be a challenging night. They had a prix fixe menu with option for entrees and first course. The amuse-​bouche was a pork belly «lollipop» and delicious! The butternut squash soup was really good, the salad was good (just a little too much vinegar). The lamb shank was tender and a huge portion, it could’ve used a little more seasoning, but quite pleasant. The band was excellent, so was the service. Overall a very satisfying experience and we wish this new restaurant a long and prosperous stay in Monrovia.

This is our fourth visit to Sow House and each time EVERYTHING seems to be better then the last. The bar tenders are great and in particular, the bartender named Adrian is very creative, knowledgable of mixology, and a genuine nice guy. The pork lollipops are amazing! The lamb shank is out of this world! The atmosphere is comfortable, the design is simple and the people are great!

Best New Years dinner ever I would be there everyday if I could the food is amazing and the service is always a pleasant surprise not to mention the cocktails are out of this world best restaurant in San Gabriel Valley

I find the name odd and of course everyone will mispronounce it and assume that this is a pork place. But it is sow as in sow a field not sow as in pig. Sort of a reference to the farm to table but I still think the name is odd. I think they should change it to Reap what you Sow, so people will pronounce it correctly. OK all those semantics aside, great meal. I had the salmon and it was perfectly done. Our table ordered the pork belly lollipops and for me they were just OK, the sauce was really good but they are so fatty, however a friend reminded me that hello, that is what a pork belly is, so whatever. I thought the meatballs were a little grainy for my taste I like a smoother texture, but the sauce again was super. I would definitely come back and try a few other things.

Waited over an hour to be served. And was mediocre at best when compared to simaler dishes else where, over priced for the mediocre quality. Nice owner doesn’t equal good restaurant. Won’t be returning!

I’m as excited as anyone when a new joint appears on Myrtle. The menu looks amazing. It seems so ideal. And the thing is, the manager is really trying. The hostess is really trying. But ultimately, our experience was a solid and resounding «meh». The cheeses on our cheese plate could have come from Pavillons up the street. The drinks were ok. The pizza that my daughter ordered was the highlight of the night honestly. We might give it another chance, we’ll see.

I don’t even know where to start! It is cozy, charming and inviting from the moment you walk in– We were greeted warmly by our server, Evelyn,(nice on such a cold December night, LOL!) The tall bar type table at the side of the dining room was perfect, we could see everything going on, even the Monrovia Santa Claus riding atop a glitterily lit Firetruck driving up Myrtle!
The Menu was awesome, something for everyone on there, no matter what your taste. The Pork Belly Lollipops were divine, melt in your mouth unctiousness, I wanted to lick the sauce off the plate (but, refrained!) The beef and bison meatballs were phenomenal, with a flavor hard to describe, in another fabulous sauce– The bread made a perfect sponge to get every drop.
The cocktails were fabulous, and not weak, either, I had the spiced rum and cider which was perfect with our appetizers– It was so hard to pick the entrée, everything sounded good, but we settled on the Scallops and the Lamb Shank, both amazing, the Lamb was fork tender and with so much flavor– Havent had such a great Lamb Shank in years at ANY restaurant!
For dessert, what could be better than a chocolate Crème Brulee? I mean crème brûlée mated with chocolate?! Divine!
It was a busy night, with two parties of over 12 being served right next to us– normally, service for the little party of two (us) might suffer with such big orders to fill all around us, but the service from ALL the staff as attentive and super friendly.
Can’t wait to go back and try something else from the menu! One of the most delightful experiences we have had in a long time!

My girlfriends and I went for a birthday… I must say we were impressed by the amazing food, beer options and cocktails. The customer service was exceptional! We felt very welcomed and as if were at a friends home. The applewood pizza paired with red wine was heaven in my mouth. My dessert was the Nurse’s Nog which was creamy yet smooth. mixed with toasted marshmallow left me speechless. So happy Sow House opened up and I look forward to trying more of their food! :)

I went last night with a group of six having booked a reservation on Unilocal’s SeatMe. I like being able to book online. However I did try to call and confirm but their «new» phone was not working well. We were seated in the bar at a high top table as there was a party of 50 here also. The first thing to note throughout is the tables are narrow and too small for six. When we asked if there was an additional table we could add for more room we were told «no, there’s nothing we can do, oh well» by an older gal who could use some hospitality training. Disappointing response.
The tables throughout the restaurant are this size, and the chairs aren’t terribly comfy. For this reason alone I won’t be back.
The service was slow, the server showed little knowledge of the menu items, and the food was nothing special. There are so many better places in the same price range locally.
Particularly annoying was the live music accompanying dinner. It sounded like cheesy organ music you’d hear at a roller rink, not a fine dining establishment.
I see no reason to return.

This place is so amazing!!! I came here with my friends and we’re all so impressed with the food and the ambiance… they also have live music Fridays and Saturdays… everything tasted so good I really can’t pick a favorite… but the pork belly lollipops are so delish and the baked Brie is sooo good… the ribeye with the twice baked potato… I could go on and on… my friends and I basically ordered a few appetizers and entrees and shared everything

They did a great job for the first night. Food was excellent, but drinks were even better. Ordered the wedge salad and the meatballs for starters. Highly recommend both. Dinner was the burger and the scallops. Very clean food with excellent flavor. Drinks were awesome. The «Man Up» and «Cactus Flower» were so good we ended up spending more on drinks than food. Not typical for us.

The atmosphere is beautiful the food is amazing. They serve intelligentsia coffee and the service is very friendly. The live jazz mix combo is great the pork belly appetizer is to die for. I am here on the first day and I think this place is going to be a hit!
