Got the $ 24 Lobster Roll and two bites in, I bit into a lobster leg, which I pulled out to show to the cashier. I figured the kitchen should be aware of what I had to pull out of my mouth — ugh! It ruined my pricey sandwich experience. Service was slow, but the staff was friendly. They asked if I wanted something else instead, but the experience ruined my appetite as you could imagine. The pizza was good from what I heard.

Little known Gurney’s Beach Bakery, is tucked into a retail store inside of Gurney’s Hotel in Montauk. Behind the small store is a real kitchen that does far more baking than appears in the store. They are now in 11 Stop N Shops, and many east end locations looking to carry bakery items. At first I thought the cakes looked fake, like brought in from some mass produced BJ’s or something. The lady there explained that they bake them there on premises and stores actually carry them, in case I saw them out. They looked like perfect factory made cakes! They have an amazing looking chocolate and carrot cake amongst other things. If out on the east end and looking for a large occasion cake, they do wedding cakes also, obviously since at Gurney’s people sometime opt for weddings at the beach etc. Reading a bit on this bakery, it seems it initally had a baker voted the best pastry chef in Long Island named Billy Bertha there. and it seems now. its George Bello as the head chef. Article in Newsday. So here we have it, a nice suprise additional choice for picking up bakery in Montauk.
