Another visit to Jims for one of the family cars and we were only charged 27.00 for an oil change and we were expecting to pay for suspension work which we were given a $ 1000 estimate from another shop. Jim and A1 lube and tune are absolutely amazing. I have gone there twice in the last year with my f-​150. I was referred by another happy customer. Each time I went Jim looked at my truck and fixed it. Each time it was a very simple thing so he did not charge. I know at any other mechanic I would have been charged a minimum of $ 150 each time. By far the BEST mechanic I’ve ever been to! I’ve taken my truck there twice so far for some needed repair (heater core replacement $ 100, and solenoid repair $ 195) and both times very reasonable prices for the work done and quick at getting it done, but getting it done right! Jim is honest and he takes the time to tell you what’s wrong with your vehicle! I def will be back with any other repairs needed for my truck even though I live in long beach n he’s in montclair, that’s how good he is!!!

Came here on a Saturday morning to get a diagnostic test done since my check engine light has been on and off for like the past year, lol. Jim ran the test and luckily it wasn’t anything serious. He figured it was my gas cap not being on tight enough or something to that effect. I thought it had to do with my catalytic converter (it was stolen from me on Valentines Day 2013, jerks) but ever since I got my cat replaced my check engine light has been on. Needless to say, he didn’t bullshit me and he was really nice and fast. It was great to know that he also is a certified smog check facility, so I was able to get my smog check and everything transmitted to the DMV right there! Most places are one or the other but he is both! A repair shop and a smog check center. AWESOME! I will definitely be coming here from now on if anything goes wrong with my Honda! :)

This shop is the best! Jim is the most honest mechanic I know. Integrity I should say. I went to his shop, its by the railroad, «don’t judge the book by its cover», it looks scary but wait until I tell you the story. So I went for a brake fluid service coz of the service indicator. He checked the brake fluid first and showed me the fluid. He told me that my brake fluid is still good and clean and it’s ¾ full. He said that I’m still good for like 2−3months and to just check youtube on how to reset the light. I was so happy coz I save some bucks! If I went to the dealer, for sure, they will charge me 3x without even changing the fluid. Jim is the go to guy and will go to him for maintenance.

Jim and his employees are amazing. They know what they are doing, they are HONEST (which is hard to come by with mechanics) and dont over charge. I just took my car in yesterday for what my HONDA dealer told me I needed ALL four brakes and roaters changed. Honda quoted me over $ 1,000!!! WHAT? I took it to Jim, he checked it, told me I was good on my front roaters and brakes all I needed were the back ones replaced. He charged me less that $ 200 and the car was done the same day. Also, they checked my oil and topped it off for me! They are amazing I will ONLY go to them from now on! Real stand up people.

Being a gangstuh and runnin’ the streets, you always have to make sure you’re getting what you pay for and customers get legit product. Some folks charge a dime for a nickel bag. Others charge a nickel for a dime bag. Try to score the latter. Jim at A1 Lube and Tune is of the latter breed.
I needed a valve job on my motorhome. Jim quoted me about half what several other shops quoted me. Not only did he deliver on time, at a lower cost than his original estimate– he showed me in detail what he did. He really is the man, behind the man, behind the man. He runs his business, but also does all the work in the shop. That’s how he knows the product is right and the price is right– no middle man.

Jim is as honest and trustworthy as they come. I have no problem dropping off my car and telling him, «Just fix whatever is wrong» because I know that he won’t nickel and dime me for unnecessary repairs. That’s a rare find these days.

I have gone to Jim for about 7 years now. I was referred by friends who have gone to him much longer than that. Everyone I know who comes here becomes a confirmed customer after the first visit. Several times I have brought my car in for something I did not know was minor like a blown fuse, and when I picked up my car Jim tells me it’s no charge, it only took 5 minutes to fix. Not being a mechanic, a few times he could have charged me a lot of money and I wouldn’t have known the difference. Very honest man. They are busy sometimes because people know how good they are. If they make a mistake they are very prompt to fix it. They are not related to A1 Lube & Tune in Corona!
