Lemme just say that they have thee best cabbage i ever tasted in my life. This is coming from someone who despises most vegetables known to man. But this Caribbean spot is a low key. been there for a while but doesn’t get much recognition. They close pretty early. There food is pretty good. it’s your typical Caribbean take out. And like the others after a certain time they don’t have certain foods like oxtails or cabbage and stuff, depending. But id recommend. Credit/​debit card $ 10 min

I’d gone into this place some years ago, seemingly before it changed management, and wasn’t motivated to buy anything. I was passing by today and noticed that the interior seemed more inviting and so decided to give it a shot. I’m glad I did! The Jerk Chicken was authentic and delicious, as was the rice and peas, plantain and cabbage. The interior was clean and the employees were friendly. Up until now, I’ve been travelling to Bloomfield for Jamaican food but not anymore. I’ll definitely be back to try the additional menu items.

Slowly but surely we are becoming regulars to this place. Reminds us of Jamaica minus the weather. The food is just right. We just had some jerk chicken, oxtail and some catfish– all with rice and peas and cabbage– Lawd! So satisfying. We are so full, it’s going to be tricky getting out of our seats.

I went there to pick up lunch the other day. I got stew chicken with cabbage and PUMPKIN!!! All of it was DEEEElicious! I will be going over to pick up dinner for tonight. My mouth is watering.
I have had wonderful service experiences there. The owner even greeted me on the street the other day.

If I could give this place zero stars I would, first I would like to address the nasty attitudes of the employees. When you walk in you are not greeted and it’s almost like its a bother to place an order. For the length of time I waited for my food I expected it to be hot, food was room temp at best. Food was tasteless the macaroni and cheese tasted very bland almost like boxed Mac and cheese and the container smelled like soap. When giving me my change back the women tossed it on the counter in a rude manner. I’ve been to this establishment a few times and the attitudes have not changed I won’t be returning. My advice stay away.

Well… This place is a very pleasant surprise. The beef patties are awesome, there is a veggie pattie and a chicken pattie if beef isn’t your thing. I highly recommend going with the beef though. It’s spicy, but not too spicy, and crust is light and flaky.
The ox tails are always on the menu, and are somehow better than my mother’s ox tails. The rice and peas are great, and there is always a side of greens to go with your meal.
Just a word of advice: this place is pretty much a take out spot. They have a couple of tables, but I usually take out.

I guess I’m the first, If you want Caribbean this is the place, but call ahead to see if it’s available. She runs out early. I recommend the beef stew with rice and beans and vegetable. Excellent. This is a To-​go restaurant. It looks like a old grocery/​convenience store. If you live in Montclair/​West Orange and you like Caribbean go to Gag’s you won’t be disappointed.
