Cunning Dental Group

I stop by your offices for consultation speaking with one of your lead doctors. I was actually thinking of going to this dental group until I heard their commercials on a local radio station. Their commercials are so disgusting it makes me want to go to another dentist I wish you would reconsider your marketing plan. Then I will definitely consider your dental group

My experience is a mixed bag. As far as the dentist that worked on my teeth – Dr. Mantifar – she does excellent work, and I was/​am very happy with her… and ultimately, that’s the most important part of my Cunning Dental experience. However, I’m left with a residual bad taste in my mouth (dental pun?!) regarding the business side to this experience. After paying the bulk of the fees upfront, I was hounded for the remainder of the balance before treatments were completed, when in fact, an agreement was reached early on that final payment would not be made until all treatments were completed. Management and I argued over the semantics of «treatment completion,» and whether my interpretation (or their’s) was the valid and prevailing principle to follow. Very awkward, and in my mind, very unprofessional. So disappointing, particularly when this uncomfortable business-​related piece is that which prevents me from recommending this establishment to anyone, ever.

Dr Chen, staff of cunning dental thank you for your sincere professionalism, from the consultation and exams three days prior to the ⁴⁄₁ total upper implant. Drs, and staff were assuring and caring. I had quite a bit of anxiety due to fact that 12 upper teeth had to be extracted then proceed with implants (4). Same day. I am writing this the same evening and there has not been ANY DISCOMFORT. Although this is first day since surgery and requires multiple visits I will try to update on progress. GREAT DENTAL OFFICE! Update: day after. Woke up painless, but could now feel some soreness around implants but quite tolerable. Took pain med. and now feeling better. All seems to be fine, more updates to come.

Very unprofessional. My mom had two interviews with them and she has called back so many times since the dentist said she will get a call and another work interview. My mom has not received a call back and no one has responded to her messages even after they told her she did a great job. Beware of this place if these people are so damn rude!

There was quite a good amount of mixed reviews about this place but myself and my friend were referred by her sister who had normal dental work done here so we decided to try it out and get a consultation on veneers.
When I called to make the appointment the lady on the phone was very nice and very helpful so that was already a good start.
Once we arrived the next day our wait time was not very long and all the staff was friendly, talkative and kind.
Our appointment was one after the other starting at 11am. We were there till 1:30 getting X rays, discussing what needed to be done and going over and filling out financing for payment. At 1:30 we took a lunch break and came back at 2:30 to finish the stuff that took longer like insurance getting approved and final appointments to be made over the next couple weeks. So far I love this place and their staff!

Beware misinformation and omissions by employees over the phone. Prepare to be at fault for all of the above. Poor customer service is bad for business.

What a nightmare! Was literally tortured by a dentist who told me not to move. I had a tooth infection and he didn’t numb it at all. Not even oragel, apparently I was involuntary micro flinching and he yelled at me. He said if you move then I’ll poke you more like this, and preceded to stab my over and over again in my mouth with his tool, using my mouth as an example while he’s reprimanding me. I sat up and explained you flinch when your in pain, with no numbing agent especially. The assistant and him suddenly looked at my like I was making a mountain out of a molehill. I was molested by a dentist when I was a child just like the ones (hidded camera footage cases) you see on Inside Edition and Hard copy, to say the least I have trust issues with them, especially the ones who intentionally inflict pain on me.

So I went to cunning dental because my local radio station (not naming names) talked this place up. I was expecting the service I heard was provided. They do not fix a whole mouth in one day, the lady who did my x-​rays acted like she hated her job and while reading reviews from Google found out that they have several bad reviews. Upon mentioning their not so awesome reputation attitudes changed quickly to extremely happy. I ended up walking out as I needed major work done and it could not be done in one session and I didn’t want to end up with issues from the very rude billing lady who apparently has made many many customers unhappy even irate. Office was clean but be prepared to be taken through the whole back office as every different thing apparently needs its own room. Also bring your own toothbrush floss and toothpaste because they don’t have any. When i asked for a toothbrush one of their D.A.‘s was incredibly rude with attitude and told me she did not do that, I had to get it from the front office who like I said has none of those basic things. I thought this was a dentist. I would not recommend this place to my family or friends.

Really well done! Experienced, professional, and really care about you! Only negative they tend to be pricy! Not much of my union benefit paid bill!

Wow! This isn’t just a dentist … This is dental artistry! After our primary dentist retired we needed a new home for our dental health and this is the place to go to. Their advanced technology paired with passionate personal care is exactly what our family needed. Thank you Cunning Dental! This is the only dentists I would recommend !

Went into this place (after making an appointment) with moderate pain from an existing cavity. After the wait and filling in the forms, I was told I would have to wait for treatment until my insurance company was contacted. So, I had to wait for them to find out what would be covered. So, I was sent home with a card, brochure, the same untreated pain/​cavity and told me they would get into contact with me… 10 months later I am still waiting to be contacted. Ridiculous! The next day I actually contacted the dental office asking if I could call and get the information from the insurance company for them, which I did, but they said they needed to call. Was the call ever made? Was my PPO insurance not good enough? How do you allow a patient to leave with active pain and an open cavity??? Horrible. 10 months later still no call, thankfully I found a competent dental establish to «help» me.

This would be one of those times I am glad I listened to my husband. He’s squeamish about going to the dentist and when I told him I was going for a cleaning he said this is the only place he would go to. Fine. We’ll drive half an hour if that gets the job done. Got appointments first thing both at the same time and were seen right away. They offer a complementary exam including X-ray’s which also got done quickly and efficiently with a smile, every person there is a delight to deal with. I have been there twice now for cleaning and fillings and been very satisfied each time.
My husband is also super satisfied and even though we have dental insurance and did not have to pay much out of pocket, they work with you on the pricing if this is an issue.
I have never been to a dentist this great, ever, worth the drive, we will continue to come here.

This place gets one star because I couldn’t find a negative button. I was conned, tricked, put through severe emotional distress all for sedation dentistry for a root canal, temporary crown and two filings. Your right I shouldn’t have paid the extra $ 439 to be sedated, but I’m terrified of the dentist once again they have proved in my book to be the reason I hate dental offices. All of them.
I initially called and told them exactly what I needed, they told me I could come in and see the dr right away. I went down in less than a few hours to sit through a long «free» appointment for pricing. Of course when they set me down it was only to have to come back another day because they sent me to the wrong type of dentist for my needs. Problem #1 I can get that reluctantly I schedule the second appointment.
Fast forward to the second appointment where they call be an hour before the appointment and tell me I don’t need to come down as its a routine procedure and it was straight forward. If I’m going to spend more on the sedation than the dental work, I suppose I should fill the other two fillings while I’m there. They give me the pricing tell me all is good I just need to make sure I have a ride home.
So I call back to the SAME person after arrange a ride and now she tells me the person has to stay the entire time to sit in the lobby and wait because they don’t know that the dr is going to be able to approve the temp crown. Hours later it’s decided again they can do everything, the multiple drivers, someone dropping me off and someone else picking me up is fine, they just need to have the number to call that person, you know… To let them know when your ready.
So I arrive at 7:30 as scheduled (early to actually pay) and suddenly it’s not ok anymore. They need to speak to the driver who is picking me up NOW at 8 am, when they are not scheduled until 2pm. This NONSENSE goes back and forth until after 10am when I told them at 7:45 that my afternoon driver can not be reached because she is on dialysis and does not sleep with her phone. If someone had told me they needed an 8am voice call prior to any work being done I would have made arrangements for them to talk to her the night before. Another miscommunication.
After almost 3 hours since my arrival they start the work. They promise me even with the delay they can get the work completed in time all of it so my ride would still be available. Yet another miscommunication.
A few hours later I woke up to a man I had never met jamming a needle in my face and starting to drill in my cavities. Then he yelled at me and told me to stop crying. Then they tried to blame me for pulling out the IV I guess they’ve never had to control someone in their sleep before. And blamed me telling me I refused to let them put it back in. LIARS why would I even tell someone of whom I’ve paid a service to NOT TO PERFORM THE SERVICE??? So then realizing I was awake this jerk of a dr starts stabbing me with a needle in my mouth without even telling me what he’s doing, which of course brings tears to my eyes because I’m not supposed to feel anything THEY PROMISED!!! He walks out after numbing my mouth for no reason slaps a half ass temporary fiing on top what he has already drilled into just on one tooth so I now have an open mouth and they sent me home because I was upset! Of course I was upset, YOU DIDNT DO YOUR JOB. The one I signed for and paid for you to do.
This place is a joke they have no clue what they are doing. And to top it off, my birthday is coming up which I told them I wanted to be better and done so I can eat my already paid and booked dinner and now I can’t eat anything but liquid foods.
Worst experience of my life. And God help you if you ever want to talk to a manager they won’t have time.

Experience has been great so far. Got my wisdom tooth taken out and got a filling. I was told during my initial visit/​exam that I would need a root canal but when my dentist looked over my X-​rays on my second visit (to get the work done) he saw that all I needed was a filling and was confident he could save my tooth. Did not feel like I was being ripped off and felt very comfortable. High stressed and full of anxiety, of course, but felt that I was in good hands with a great dentist who knew what he was doing.
There were a couple things that irritated me, though. They send you multiple confirmations for your appts. I will receive two text messages, an email and a phone call. Second, one of the receptionists is rude and not at all friendly to the patients and dental assistants but will chit chat about her weekend out loud with her co-​worker. She is the reason why it’s a 4 star and not a 5.

Wow… what can I say but what an amazing bunch of people. From the minute I walked in the door and until I walked out I was given A+++ service. The office was beautiful and exceptionally clean. I went in for a consult to have full dental implants but was advised I only needed the top ones done. I was more than willing to have the bottom ones done to but he was honest and told me I had good bottom teeth and should keep them. I felt very comfortable and in good hands so soon I will have some new gorgeous teeth and a beautiful smile to go with it. =)

It’s not about the finances as one reviewer put it, but about the fact that they deceive you into thinking you need procedures when you don’t. Even if you have great insurance, which I do, does NOT mean I want them to root canal a tooth unnecessarily. GET A SECOND OPINION. The second dentist I went to honestly said there was no reason to root canal. He was ashamed that there are dentists in his field doing this. After this we went back for an explanation, and all they could say was that the dentist was now retired and that some dentist are more conservative. I suppose that makes them «liberal” – with your money and/​or insurance. No thanks! In this case, I prefer conservative. I don’t need «liberals» drilling into my teeth, wallet or insurance.

Fast friendly service… i had a unfortunate accident, and they took me as a new patient the very next day and even put a rush order on my new tooth. The young lady (Christy) that helped through the process was very organized, knowledgeable and friendly. She informed me of all my billing options and walked me through insurance process, which made my out of pocket expense very small. ONLY THING THAT I DID NOT LIKE, was she told me i could not use the «CELEBRITY» entrance. :(
Great dental office !!!

I find it rather hilarious that all of these reviews that are «negative» all have to do with financial issues. I am blessed to have great insurance, and have been going to cunning dental for about 5+ years now, and I wouldn’t change it. I have never been bombarded with an extensive bill, or been told I needed treatments that I didn’t need. If anything in my past experiences with dentist, I’ve always had problems (which they corrected).
I initially went to Cunning because a coworker recommended them to me after my wisdom teeth got infected and caused me to get a 105 fever. I called them on a Saturday, and they were able to take me that following Monday. I had my exam, and then they prescribed me antibiotics. I was scheduled to have my wisdom teeth pulled, and the procedure scared me but after the fact I was overwhelmed with happiness. They are always gentle, and provide excellent service.
Since going to them, I have my regular cleanings and have also had to have a root canal re-​done (previous dentists didn’t do it properly). I haven’t had a cavity, nor other dental issues since being with them.
My mother just had some dental work done with them today, and I will update the post with another review shortly after her recovery.
They are reasonable as the work that my mother had done was shopped around, and their pricing was one of the best!
Definitely will continue going there, and recommend it to all of my family.

I recently got some dental work done at Cunning Dental. Here is my experience:
Office: They have a very nice office. Big reception area with plenty of seating available. The exam room was very clean. They have a dental laboratory on-​site and they have a big banner in the front saying 45 year anniversary. I asked the receptionist and she said that they are a family owned business for 45 years. Wow.
Staff: Everyone was so nice and professional from the receptionist to the dental assistant. Each staff member had their role and I was impressed with how it was managed.
Dentists: Dr. Chen & Dr. Khatami were amazing. They made sure to explain everything that was going to happen and they answered all my questions. I was very impressed with the results and am I truly grateful for their skills in helping me fix my teeth.
Overall: I highly recommend Cunning Dental. They are all very nice & professional, they have a lab on-​site and I am very pleased with the results which is the most important thing!

After having been to Cunning Dental, I am really surprised by all the negative reviews for them. My experience with them has been really great so I hoping that this won’t fall on deaf ears. They really do deserve more kudos than what’s been said.
I came home to visit family and one of my teeth was really bothering me so my friend recommended I go see their dentist. I wasn’t all that excited about driving all the way from the South Bay just to see a dentist but since it came as a recommendation and I didn’t know where else to go, figured I’d try them out. When I called them, I let them know that I was from out of town and didn’t have much time. The person who helped me was great about working with me to accommodate my limited access to getting a car to drive all the way over there. I got there and Sabrina checked me in and took care of me. The wait wasn’t long at all. From the start Dr. Derik made me feel comfortable. I was very impressed with his bedside manner and technique. I didn’t experience much discomfort.
Pretty simple fix and quick which was a big relief since I really didn’t want to deal with anything big knowing I wasn’t in town for long and certainly didn’t want to be in pain on my flight back. No pressure at all. No one tried to force me into any big, unnecessary procedure which is why I am still surprised to read all the reviews of expensive procedures. Dr. Derik even told me to come back next time I was in town so he could check on me. I thought that was pretty nice. All in all, I know my experience wasn’t as extensive as everyone else but in my book, they put me at ease and took care of me and my tooth. That’s what counts.
