The idea behind Egan & Sons?
We are a family business for 30 years that have strived to connect with the community we serve, «The Neighborhood». We are part of a wave of pubs with good food — «Gastro Pubs»; informal, inexpensive fun, yet with high standards.
Egan’s food
«Contemporary Irish Farmhouse», using the freshest ingredients, organic where possible, and locally sourced.
History
Established in 2005.
Egan’s history can be seen in the very walls of its dinning halls and the lights on its walls. Most of the woodwork came from Dublin, salvaged from a bar near Dublin Castle that dates to the mid 1800’s. The artwork is by some of Dublin’s leading contemporary artists: Guggi, Mick Mulcahy, David Quinn, Gerald Byrne, Nikki Purcell, Charlie Wisker, Gay O’Neil, and Simon Mcloed. The cow is an effigy or likeness of Michael Flatley given to him as a gift, but never picked up (We don’t think he liked it).
The Odd Fellows sign and the metal cornicee came from across the street from a building which is now demolished. The Odd Fellows were an organization of men that did charitable work, originating in England several hundred years ago. They were considered «odd» because society was far less giving years ago.
