A lot of people don’t know, but this place is now in Rancho Cucamonga. It goes by jp deli. The food remains amazing as usual.

Unfortunately, I was not a fan of this place. The Lomo Saltado and Saltado de polly was not good. There was fat still attached to the meat in both dishes, not even sauce. I’m honestly getting sick thinking about it… it was cery greasy. The peruvian style fried rice was very bland. Will not be coming back here.

I was introduced to Lucho’s by my parents, since apparently my Dad was friends with the owner. It was an amazing place to eat a few years ago, but recently they have upped their prices, lowered their portions and started serving guinea pigs. Not to mention they went down to a B grade. So it went from this great place to go and treat yourselves to Ceviche, A Lo Pobre and a other great dishes to this horrible overpriced hole-in-the-wall that serves family pets. Pretty sick, huh? As much as I loved this place before they went downhill, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s overpriced food for small portions, and I’m terrified of getting sick from the rodents they cook there.

This place is by definition a hole in the wall. No signage outside. Heck this tiny little mini-mall had a number of places with no signage. The only way that we deciphered that this place was the peruvian place we were looking for were some of the specials advertised on the windows. The signage from the street said café nuo or nyo or nyu or something like that. The menu itself has a different name than Luchos and has a watermark of that café nyo place. Strange. The food itself? The ceviche was indeed tasty and probably the best thing that night. I ordered the Chaufa de Pollo(chicken fried rice). The rice itself was very tasty, but chicken was dry. My sis ordered the crispy chicken which was something none of us expected, and that too was dry. For dessert we split a couple of pastries. Both had caramel in it and both were good. Since this place is fairly out of the way, I doubt we’ll be back despite the yummy ceviche.

To be honest im peruvian. I went with all y friends to this restaurant because i know peruvian food is the best. But in this restaurant it wasnt that good at all. The food was greasy, they charged for everything, even the water and bread. The lomo saltado was swimming on grease. Mar Tierra was horrible and the Bistek a lo Pobre was nasty. So much grease. There was only one person in charge and he was going crazy. I have patience but others dont have it. If somebody wants to open a restaurant he needs to have all his staff ready to do business and have everything ready. I wanted a maracuya but he said no all rude, from that point i got all dissapointed. I dont know who wrote the review that is above my but i sure is the dauthre’s owner or somebody close because not just me was complaining about the food that day. I wish i had a camera so you can see what am i talking about. The worse part was the bill they inlcude a tip of over 18 dollars for 4 people do you think thats fair. I dont think so. So if you are going to a peruvian restaurant make sure it has real reviews and sources. Not everybody can cook real peruvan food. and i will think millions of times before going to Luchos again.

This is another place I did not want to share, but in the spirit of the holidays I think I was being selfish so… BEHOLDLUCHOS!!! I had never even thought to eat Peruvian food in my life. But my boyfriend, like he always does, introduces me to these small, yet fabulous little places to eat. Set in a small little plaza, Lucho’s serves up the finest in Peruvian cusine. Now for those of you who don’t know, Peruvian food is a mixture of Hispanic type food and Japanese type food because many Japanese people immigrated to Peru. The result is sinful. There is tons of seafood. Try the Chaufa de Mariscos which is basically shrimp friend rice, but the best I’ve had in my life. It tastes different than traditional fried rice– it tastes MUCHBETTER. Want some meat in you rmouth? Then order the Lomo Saltado. This dish is a little wacky sounding, but is so delicious. If you can, picture french fries mixed with tomatoes and onions and DRENCHED in a juice of garlic and onions. Served hot with white rice. I know it sounds carzy but its a true specialty of the house. You’ll see why. And you can get chicken instead of beef. They make a mean ceviche loaded with shellfish and this perfect lemony juice. Its the perfect appetizer. They have a big menu so you can basically guarantee there is something for everyone. Don’t forget to get a cup of vegetable soup, too. So, there it is. There is the Lucho’s I love so much. I’ve shared it with you and I hope you go because it is soooo worth the ten pounds you’ll gain after.
