Make Music Montclair offers private music lessons for students of all ages and levels.

Lessons are available for piano, saxophone, flute, clarinet, drums, music theory, composition, jazz improvisation and music notation (handwritten and Sibelius/​Finale software). Audition coaching is also available.

Teachers have Masters Degrees in music.

History

Whether you are learning your first notes on the piano, or you want to learn to improvise, or maybe you’re a budding composer, we will customize a lesson plan especially for you! The teachers at Make Music Montclair are versatile and very passionate about beginning your music journey or taking your creativity to the next level. No two students get the same lesson, and your music lessons will be crafted around your goals, desires, strengths, and areas of improvement.

Meet the Business Owner

Shannon Baker and Erica Seguine S.

Business Owner

Shannon Baker offers lessons for saxophone, flute and clarinet. She has over ten years of private teaching experience. Shannon received a BM in Jazz Studies from the University of North Florida, where she studied with saxophonist Bunky Green, and a MM from William Paterson University in Jazz Composition. She performs regularly in the NYC area and co-​leads, plays winds and composes for The Erica Seguine/​Shannon Baker Jazz Orchestra.

Erica Seguine teaches piano, composition, and notation software. She can also work with vocalists who need accompaniment. She has played in her founded «Community of the Spirit» and the Shannon Baker/​Erica Seguine Duo. She has been the music director and accompanist for many musicals and conducts/​composes for her co-​led big band, the Erica Seguine/​Shannon Baker Jazz Orchestra. She has BM in Jazz Composition from the Eastman, studying with Bill Dobbins & Harold Danko and MM in Jazz Arranging at William Paterson, studying with Jim McNeely & Rich DeRosa.
