Pomona Valley Workshop Thrift Store

This whole place is a scam. Go somewhere else where they will actually put your donated money to good use. Go to Habitat for Humanity next door. This place also has very short hours and is not open past 3:30 nor is it open on Saturday. This company is run by a Management team who use bullying to get their employees to comply.

My husband and I had made a run to the Habitat for Humanity Restore and discovered this little shop just a few store fronts over. We decided to stop in and check it out. We won’t make that mistake again.
As we walked in the door the lady at the front register inquired as to what brought us in? I explained that we had been at the Restore and happened to see their sign.” She then proceeded to grill me further. She said «What sign? The open sign?» I replied «No the store sign.» «Well what made you stop today?» she asked. «We never noticed it before» She looked at me disbelievingly and said «Well we have been here for 14 years.» From there it went downhill even further. My husband and I were the only two people in the store (besides the workers).The store is fairly small and most areas are completely visible to the front register, but for some reason they decided we needed closer supervision. Both of us had our very own personal, stop loss theft prevention specialist, escorts. There was no effort to be discrete. They mirrored every step we took and stood less than an arms length away. At one point it took everything I had not to turn around and hand the guy my purse and remark’ Here’s my purse. If I can trust you with that, you should be able to trust me with around some random coffee mugs and scratched records. Instead we left. I guess we will never know what made two clean and presentable seniors, look so suspicious in their eyes.

This is a small shop that has not a lot, but a bit of everything — tools, clothing, books, kitchen items, linens, knick-​knacks, toys, shoes; etc. It is always well-​maintained and they have daily sales posted on the chalkboard inside. The organization that operates the store provides training and work for disabled adults. I generally browse the whole store when I visit, and there are days when i don’t find a thing I want to purchase, and then there are days when i am really happy with the items I buy. (Note: There is a $ 15.00 minimum required for credit card/​debit use).

Just vivited yesterday. Store is great, prices great and staff helpful. Not religiously affiliated. The store is meant to give developmentally challenged work experience. I bought a top 100 book for 75 cents

It’s kind of amazing how this place manages to suck so consistently. I think I’ve only ever bought one thing there and it was a mug. Today’s selection had a large amount of 70’s funk records and folk music from the Philippines, but nothing which I was really persuaded by. You can fill up a bag of clothes for $ 7 but they hardly have any and are not very good. And it’s super Christian so on a personal level I am less stoked about supporting Jesus and his followers than some other charity.
