Ah Scotty’s, I hardly knew ye…

Truth be known, I actually found this place as a result of my quest to find Bacon Salt, an obsession that was sparked here on Unilocal.Thanks Unilocal!I searched the Bacon Salt website, and Scotty’s was listed as the only place that carried it that was in my «bubble», the small, concentric circle where I venture.
The place itself is rather small, with little or no actual seating available inside. However, you will be warmly greeting by Scotty himself, and he’s more than happy to provide you with recommendations. I actually had the Chicago Dog on my initial visit, and I have to say it was pretty good, but keep in mind I’ve never had an authentic Chicago dog, so what in the hell do I know. On my second visit, I had the chance to sample one of Scotty’s own creations: Gumbojambo. Scotty explained to me that it’s a combination of gumbo and jambalaya, and I have to say, that was pretty damn good as well, with a bit of a nice kick to it. They also offer Maryland Steamed Shrimp, which I hope to try on a subsequent visit.
I’m giving this place 5 stars, simply because Scotty was such a pleasure to talk with, and even though my initial visit was actually focussed on purchasing the Bacon Salt, he was more than happy to share suggestions on what to use it on. I got the sense he takes his food seriously, and it shows, which I like. Also, he encourages his patrons to bring in pictures of their dogs, and he’ll post him on his walls. How awesome is that?!
