Just got home with a lot of new Tsum Tsums! Yay! I haven’t been here in forever. And it was perfect! Everyone was so nice. Especially Desiree, she had a genuine conversation with every single guest at the register which is hard to come by nowadays. There is Disney music playing all throughout the store to really make you feel like you are in a whole new world(see what I did there!). I will be back again soon! Also, all of the other cast members in there were very sweet and helpful. Thanks Disney cast members, you all were fantastic today.

I debated heavily on whether to give this Disney Store a three of four star rating. Ultimately I went with four, and here’s why. They don’t have ALL of the newest Disney toys and characters, all the time, and their selection is extensive, but, if you absolutely HAVE to find a Disney gift for someone, you’ll probably find SOMETHING here for them. Best of all, you don’t have to drive all the way to Anaheim to find it… or deal with the madness that goes on at the«happiest place on Earth». The staff is annoyingly friendly(as you’d expect from any Disney employee, so this is not a knock on the employees… they can’t help this, it’s how they’re trained to act). They do acknowledge your little«princess» or «prince» when you bring the little ones into the store. They play movies at the back of the store so you can drop your kid off at the back, do some shopping, then pick ‘em up before you go. Overall, this store isn’t bad. So, despite the sometimes limited selection on toys, clothing etc., I’m still a fan.

Pretty much empty when I went here, maybe one or two people looking around as well. They’re having their«Twice Upon a Year» sale and they seem to have a good amount to sell. But I came here for tsum tsum, dammit. Totally ignored everything except for that one small area that had tsum tsum which are $ 5 for a mini size and $ 12 for a medium plushie. I bought 5 mini tsum tsum(Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Little Green alien man from Toy Story, Minnie). and I got a medium Marie tsum tsum. I was willing to fork over $ 24 for a large Minnie tsum tsum but they ran out like most places since she’s pretty popular, they did have plenty of Stitch and Mickey. The staff was nice and a young lady was willing to look in the back for a large Minnie that they didn’t have. The older lady(the manager?) was helpful too.

Manager or whatever she is, older lady brunette maybe in her 40s always wears her hair up… I’ve been there twice and she was rude both times, almost as if she didn’t want to help me. Bad customer service, when I asked her a question she rudely told me to hold on with her finger!!!

Ah, the Disney Store. The place outside the parks where you can find plenty of licensed plushies, clothes, toys, mugs, Vinylmations, and even some DVDs and various knick knacks. Some would say they’ve got gadgets and gizmos aplenty, that they’ve got who’s-it’s and what’s-it’s galore. You want thing-a-ma-bobs? Well, they’ve got more than twenty. Like the majority of the Disney Store chains you can indeed find various toys and clothing options for kids and adults. And now, thanks to Disney’s newer acquisitions over the last several years, you can expect to see plenty of Muppets, Marvel, and Star Wars merchandise as well. The store is pretty spacious and customer service has always been great the few times I have come here, but what I love most about this particular Disney Store is that it looks and has the same feel to the original Disney Store that opened up in Glendale, California back in the 80’s. Not to say this store looks or feels old, but it’s really nice to see all the pictures on the walls and the various figures if the classic characters in the shop windows and lining the ledges of the ceiling. Gives the store more personality, magic, and overall more of a Disney«feel» than the cookie cutter layouts they use to open their newer stores.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Disney. But I was truly put out and upset by the policy not to take checks at the Disney Store at Montclair Plaza. This policy probably affects all Disney stores and outlets. What with the hackers out there destroying everyone’s confidence in the safety of plastic – credit OR debit, I prefer to write checks. I haven’t had any problems all the years I have written checks, and with e-check capability, the company has their money as fast as credit. So I was totally astounded when the perk clerk smiled at me and said, «I’m sorry, we don’t accept checks.» A multi-national corporation as huge as Disney and they don’t accept checks??? Can’t afford electronic check equipment? Really? I had to dig into my gas money to pay for the Christmas purchases for my grandchildren. Walgreens, Petsmart, CVS and many others who are not nearly as huge as Disney seem to be able to afford e-check equipment, as it saves them the hassle of bad checks. So what’s up Disney corporation? Baggy can’t get with the beat?

When I was a kid, back when there was no Victoria Gardens or Ontario Mills and this store briefly had a small restaurant attached, this was the next best place to go besides Disneyland. That was when the Montclair Plaza was busy and there was a store in that big space at the end of the mall. But as I’ve gotten older, so has this store and the mall. The Plaza has gone downhill due to the aforementioned malls and it’s reflective in this store. It’s nice but it’s not as nice as it used to be. It might not look like it to people who haven’t been to the store in the past but that’s the truth. It’s good but not as good as it used to be.

Ha, I still remember my mom taking us to the Disney Store as a kid. — I stopped in a few times this past week and each time the staff has been wonderful and given off this really infectious energy! I was excited to be there too. I was picking up a few Frankenweenie dolls for my niece and the rest of us to take to a 3D sneak preview screening of Frankenweenie, at the Walt Disney Studio Theater, as part of a fundraiser for the Joe Ranft/CalArts Alumni Scholarship at CalArts. I left a little frustrated tonight though and couldn’t help but feel a little bummed hearing each staff member I passed on the way out ironically say, have a magical night. I still encourage everyone to shop at this location, but would like to suggest that sales and sales details be posted by the managers for all employees to be able to reference, saving future customers the same frustrations I ran into. — On Friday, I came in to look at the Frankenweeine dolls and noticed a 2 for $ 30 promotion and asked if it applied to those dolls… unsure, the sales woman offered to call someone on her walkie talkie… she confirmed that they were also on sale. I still hadn’t decided which dolls I wanted and was headed to a haircut appointment in the mall, so I asked the greeter in the front when the sale ended, to which she replied it was an ongoing sale. I decided that I would come back on Monday after work, but not before stopping by the Ontario Mills location on Sunday, since it was much closer to home. On Monday night I returned and the staff was wonderful again. I walked up to the register to pay for the 4 stuffed animals we’d be taking with us, but the dolls didn’t ring-up with the sale?! I quickly asked about it and was told that they were not on sale, so I mentioned my Friday trip and the conversation I had with the other sales person to the cashier. She said that she couldn’t offer me that price and if I had purchased them on Friday they would have honored it. It was frustrating/embarrassing standing there having to decide what to put back and wishing I hadn’t been so indecisive on Friday… but what added to the frustration was know how much of my time and gas money I had wasted driving there a second time. I know she saw me loss my smile and I felt bad. I ended up putting 3 of the dolls back and sitting in my truck for a bit before driving home — it sucks going in excited about your night and leaving with a frustrated feeling inside of your chest, over nothing big… but something that was big to you.

Friendly staff at this Disney Store. I love it when I can take my kids somewhere they can be entertained and overwhelmed. Keeps them tamed. Found some Lightning McQueen toys that the boys love.
