I’ve been coming here forever! I love the iced coffee and veggie burger… And everything else pretty much. What’s great about toast is that you can get sweet, sugary pancakes or eggs with avocado and whole wheat toast. So if you’re feeling a bit naughty but your friend is feeling healthy, it’s no big deal! Expect a wait on weekend mornings.

The restaurant is nice and feels warm and welcoming like someone’s home. The food is good, I had the Sundays on the farm and I requested it be made with veggies and they were very accommodating. The corn beef hash was fresh and like nothing I’ve ever had before. My fiancé got guerrilla eggs which came out ok. The coffee was bitter and we replaced it with an Earl Grey tea instead maybe next time my fiancé will try an americano. The service was fast and we will return and give this place another try.

The food was amazing. We ordered the California scramble and the Irish Benedict and a single pancake. Tip: you can actually«get in line» before you arrive via the NoWait app which the restaurant uses to notify you that your table is ready. The service was just so-so. We ended up having to ask the host for our check because our server had all but disappeared. Nonetheless, I would return!

LOVE the food. The stuffed french toast is awesome, California scramble is great. Coffee isn’t the best. But the service is ALWAYS great and the food is ALWAYS amazing. Cool little place too. I usually sit upstairs where it’s a lot warmer and more quiet.

This is a very cozy brunch spot. Some place to go for a nice breakfast with your mate or with a friends. Went for brunch on my boyfriends birthday, they allow you to BYOB of wines & light spirits.(If you would like to bring harder stuff, sneaking it into wine or champagne bottle isn’t a hassle) Food was pretty good traditional menu options. I got French toast bacon & eggs. They offer non breakfast items such as burgers. Was kinda numbed they did not have strawberries. Only con, though the place is about 3 stories the smallness of it may be annoying. People brushed pass me multiple times when leaving or getting up.

I’ve been wanting to visit Toast for several months so while on vacation I decided«I’m All In». We had to park in a residential area(around the corner) or run the risk of getting towed if you park on other properties nearby. We then walked into a small yet quaint establishment and placed our name on the list and waited outdoors(ugh cold). By the way, there were several families waiting to be seated. Hostess said our wait would be 15 – 20 minutes so we returned in 15 minutes and they were ready for us. Our server walked us upstairs(much larger than downstairs) and sat us in the back. Our server was great she immediately placed our order and our order was on the table within 15 minutes. We ordered carrot cake pancakes and banana foster waffles(syrup too sweet) The food was delicious, fresh and filling. We will return but it’s way too cold to wait outside so perhaps I will visit during the Spring.

Eh. Never understood the hype that surrounds this place. Maybe it’s the décor or edgy name. I have given this place a few chances, and the food always falls short. Coffee is weak, eggs are dry, and you will wait at least 20 minutes for a table. For the price, I would expect better. Go next door to Uncle Momo instead, and thank me later.

By far, this is our favorite place for breakfast and brunch. We’ve been coming here for over 5 years and we have not been disappointed. We feel so comfortable here, it really doesn’t matter how long the wait is or how long our food takes to be ready/barely happens. Toast is your cozy family restaurant with a concept of elite and traditional trendiness, and food tastes, looks and smells like home away from home. Today we had the Bella Nutella Toast, black coffee, steel cut oats, corned beef hash, Tuscan scrambled eggs, red velvet pancakes, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions. Sounds like a lot right? Yep! You’re absolutely right! We were too excited today, but tell you what, we are full for the rest of the day almost. We write this review as we sit for all we eat to start bonding with each other in our tummies. We feel comfortable, no one comes to bug is to leave or rush us out. This is unique to Toast, and an example of great customer service and customer appreciation. Until our next Toast! Ciao! Dennis&Lilian

Walked into the venue and the atmosphere was super cute and cozy. I had high hopes as we were lead upstairs to be seated. Drinks were taken quickly and my chai latte was delivered 10 mins later with an unattractive mound of foam on top. The menu is pretty concise but has a lot of options. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage on the kaiser roll and a single carrot cake pancake. The food arrived pretty quickly, however the pancake never arrived. Since I was in a time crunch to head to the airport, I just let it slide and made sure it wasn’t on the bill. My sandwich was forgettable. The kaiser roll wasn’t warm and the cold bit of cheese thrown on top did not make for an appetizing sandwich. I ended up taking apart the sandwich and eating the eggs and sausage separately. The disco breakfast that my friends got was pretty good and the only redeeming part of the meal. Disappointing last meal of my vacation.

Great day at Toast! Had Ruevos Ranchos… They are the best at this dish, my favorite. We waited 40 mins, they text you when ready, and it was smooth. Great coffee too.

I like this place!!! It’s simple, and straight to the fact. breakfast food! The menu isn’t overwhelming, and the service is fast, and the staff is nice. The have plenty of seating down and upstairs. The portions are just what they need to be. I appreciated that they had turkey bacon because most places don’t! I will return.

This review goes out to James. I called to place an order for some eggs and pancakes. Couldn’t possibly get any more simple than that. James then proceeds to put me on hold for 23 minutes and 13 seconds. Please refer to to picture. I actually had enough time to drop my fiancé off at the train station in orange and drive back to Montclair while still on hold. When I walk into the restaurant, I ask for James and I am pointed to the guy tapping his pen on the bar staring into space. I ask him if he is James, he says yes and I tell him that he put me on hold over 20 minutes ago. He proceeds to laugh then asks me if I would like to put my order in. Yes genius, I would like to put an order in hence the phone call. This is probably the worst form of customer service I have ever encountered to date. There was no apology, no urgency, even as I write this he is chopping it up with the other barista as though nothing happened. Toast has fallen off like no other. Keep hiring no class kids to run your shop and let me know how that turns out for you.

OK, it wasn’t horrible, but the food was barely average and the prices high. Table next to us sent back their eggs benedict twice b/c they said it «tasted funny». I actually ordered the same thing, and agree that the flavor was kinda wierd(maybe some vinegar in the poaching water?). My friend’s «huevos rancheros» was not good news. It was floating in a soupy mess, and the beans looked like they were dumped directly out of a can and onto a tortilla, with two(greasy) fried eggs on top. I’m kinda a breakfast snob, and like eggs benedict in particular, so I probably won’t be going back.

I came here for a breakfast with a couple of friends and they seated us pretty quickly despite how crowded it was. The coffee took a little longer than expected to be served but the food was served faster than expected so it made up for it. The food was delicious! The potatoes were unlike any I’ve ever tasted and I’m a potato fanatic! They were so buttery and crisp at the same time! The egg Benedict was equally delicious! I can’t wait to revisit! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable and delicious breakfast in a quaint homey setting!

Came by reconnect with a friend and enjoyed every minute! The ambiance is like a piece of the South dropped in the middle of Montclair. The staff was great and my waitress was the sweetest. There’s so much to choose from but I went with the GF pancakes and they were delish! I added bananas and strawberries and it was perfect. Although I went for lunch, I couldn’t pass up on the great breakfast items. And did I mention how delicious the tea was? And it’s served in a mason jar. It’s always the little things. I can’t wait to come back again and try some of the other great menu items. Thanks so much for the great experience!

I came here honestly just to get a new ‘peace love pancakes’ shirt because my other one was too small. The shirts are the cutest, so be sure to check them out! Knowing they close at 3, I got there at 2:30, expecting to not be able to eat but at least get the shirt. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they sit until 2:59pm. I had been to the Asbury Park location before and already knew they have a good selection of gluten free items. I had a short stack of gf pancakes with strawberries and chocolate chips and it was tasty. The service is friendly and fast. I feel like I like the layout of the AP location a bit better, a bit more room it seems. But otherwise I was really happy with my experience here. Anyone who likes breakfast foods would probably enjoy a visit here.

Toast is one of my favorite local breakfast spots. Why? Four words: Bananas Foster French Toast!!! OMG!!! It is just the most perfect French toast: light, fluffy, sweet, and the bananas foster just puts it right over the top in deliciousness. It has got to be one of my favorite breakfast dishes EVER. They also have some great breakfast classics like eggs benny and yummy omelettes. Love the cozy ambiance and good looking staff. Another Montclair gem. FYI — They open at 7:30am for breakfast so get there early to avoid the crowd.

Less than one star! DONOTGETTHETOFUSCRAMBLE! No love for the Vegans here. Way too much turmeric used and the taste was appalling. The worst food I have had in my years of living. No dramatics. Potatoes were great but freaking bogus that they come with every other scramble BUT the tofu. I ordered a side of potatoes to get me through but I’m disgusted. My husband said the waffle was great though. Seems like a great breakfast spot for others though.

My wife’s foodie friend recommended Toast for brunch so for a change of pace from a local diner, we stopped in. I like to experiment but their eggs Benedict looked so good that I went for it. My wife ordered their carrot cake pancakes — recommended by our waitress. My meal was fine — a very traditional take on an old favorite. The English muffins were a little over toasted, otherwise fine. The pancakes were really good. My wife described as a delicious treat. Probably, very high calorie so she would be cautious about over doing it next time. Service a little slow. Wait staff super friendly. Prices in line with quality. Recommended.

Toast! I have to break it down: The big pluses: 1. The waiters/waitresses are very friendly and accomodating! 2. Cute décor — the whole place looks like a giant cabin-like house. Almost feels as if you’re having breakfast at your grandmas place(maybe it’s just me lol). It feels very homey which I absolutely love — perfect for a Sunday morning. The OKs: 1. I’ve been to Toast only for breakfast and I can just say it’s okayy — it’s kind of a hit or miss depending on what you order. The first time I went to Toast I absolutely loved what I ordered which was a breakfast sandwich but the second time I went I ordered the smoked salmon omelette and it was just okay. Bottomline: Great homey atmosphere but the food is just okay.
