Their fried chicken is pretty good, but unfortunately, I haven’t been too impressed by anything else on the menu. It’s something I’ll have every once in a while, but this isn’t a staple for me.

The fried chicken alone is worth the 4 stars. Very crispy and tasty pieces. I ordered 3 but they threw an extra one in for me. Very satisfied with my meal. The sides are just mediocre, i had mashed potatoes and green beans and they werent great. Corn bread was pretty good. Would go back.

Im trying to hit the top wing places in Jersey and this has been the best so far I had the the tenders in 24k sauce. My daughter had wings in nuclear sauce, that was not as hot as epected but still very good. We will be back.

I really wanted to believe it was the best fried chicken in the area reading the reviews here but it was just average fried chicken. Also I found it too salty(maybe this was due to a salty batter only that particular day). P.S Its best to order or pickup since its not a sit down place.

Disappointing. I was looking forward to trying this place after reading a lot of positive reviews. Ordered fried chicken and buffalo wings. The buffalo wings were unnaturally big and overcooked, yet soggy. Fried chicken was tasteless. Corn bread was good, but I didn’t come there for that.

The fried chicken was definitely the best I’ve had in a long time! The fries and cornbread were delicious too. Great food, and the owner is very gracious.

I can only vouch for the chicken and the delicious«24 karat» sauce. Um YUM! My husband and I love chicken tenders, and these rate closely to our favorite chicken joint in NYC. The chicken was plump and juicy! We got $ 20 worth of chicken which was a tad pricey for us but filling. The 24 karat sauce is amazing! As for the hot sauce it kind of tasted like generic Frank’s red hot– which isn’t bad but it didn’t hold up to their 24 k. Pros: great chicken, pretty fast service Cons: price, no seating If it were a few bucks cheaper it would have been 5 stars in my book!

Chicken was moist but with super crispy batter, the cornbread avoided the two cornbread traps of being too dry, or too sticky/battery. Landed right in the sweet spot between the two. And the mashed potatoes were nice and garlicy, with the skins in which I prefer. Little joint on the outskirts of Montclair with only 1 table, but it has online ordering, which is a huge plus for me. Give it a shot if you like fried chicken and cornbread(which, surely, you do). Oh, the prices are pretty reasonable, too. 4 piece fried chicken, piece of cornbread, and side of mashed potatoes for 13 bucks and change is pretty good for this area, in my opinion.

The fried chicken, which is their signature, was awesome. Fresh chicken, nice breading, perfectly cooked. The wings were also nice and big, good quality, perfectly cooked. The fried shrimp had a similar texture to the chicken batter, but were nice and big. They were just too expensive at $ 12 for 7. The spicy remulade sauce was good, but I prefer tarter and was bummed they didn’t have any. The cornbread was good. Not the best I’ve ever had, and for $ 1 for 1 square, also overpriced. You get a mountain of fries for $ 2.99, but they were not seasoned and did not get crisp in the oven, so I tossed most of those. No carrot cake anymore. Overall, great place for chicken and wings, but skip the rest.

I have a soft spot for small local owned businesses, there’s something more authentic & genuine about them, not to mention you get to watch the owner himself(tall Italian man, humming 80’s tunes) prepare your food. I love the grilled chicken & the 24K signature sauce is awesome !! I’m craving the Jumbo shrimp today :) the staff here is really great as well, Im always greeted by a smile . I’d have to say my FAV factor about this fried chicken establishment is that the oil is always fresh.

This is a weird little place, total seating capacity ~6. The chicken is delicious. I like the sides too. A valuable option 50 feet from the train.

Food was perfect but the pricing was a big turn off. Prices were different than on the online menu. $ 2 difference on the 3pc meal. Chicken was great tho! 24 k sauce all the way! Mac n cheese was great too but that to is overpriced. $ 4 for a small portion. Pricing aside its a good place to eat

I ordered from here tonight and everything was AWESOME! So delicious I called them to tell them how delicious it was and also called my parents to inform I had just eaten the best fried chicken ever! The fried chicken was the best ever. I’ve always been a fan of the chicken from a famous colonel but Urban Chicken kicks the Colonel’s butt! The fries were awesome, the mac n’ cheese tasty and the cornbread was unreal! Go Urban Chicken!

They claim to close at 9pm but really close at 830. Don’t go here after 830 because they will turn away paying customers. What a joke. The sides are all terrible and reheated before you eat them. The string beans are out of a can and the Mac and cheese is tasteless.

THISCHICKENISTHEBUSINESS. SERIOUSLY. BEST. FRIED. CHICKEN. EVAR!!! DROOOOOOL Ahem…now that I’ve composed myself, I can tell you of my(at least) bi-weekly(2xs a week) love of Urban Chicken’s Chattanooga Fried Chicken. Let me start off by saying that I live wayyyyy closer to Popeye’s and can literally smell the fast food chain’s southern scents when I have my windows open, or I walk outside my door. Once I discovered Urban Chicken, though? Those scents were no longer drool-worthy. If you want chicken that doesn’t taste mass produced, that also has that perfect savory crunchy skin, you want Urban Chicken’s Chattanooga Fried Chicken. If you want juicy, ingeniously flavorful tender bone-in chicken, you will call them right now and you will never look back. I haven’t, and I come from the(northern) land of fried chicken: Jersey City. My boyfriend and I always order about 6 – 10 pieces of chicken and a side of fries. Their fries are 9⁄10 times fresh out of the frier, and are lightly salted for that crispy, warm potato-y goodness every side of fries should possess. And they give you a LOT! We crave UC fries even with our other meals; so even when re-heated(in a toaster oven, of course) they are a delicious left-over pairing to any meal. Here are some things I’m not so crazy about: the cornbread is too crumbly; the green beans are overcooked(but that’s all take-out green beans); the gravy on the mashed potatoes looks too flour-y but I’m not huge on gravy anyway; they’re not open on Mondays and don’t deliver until 4 pm on days they are open, WTH? If you like your buffalo wings to pack some serious flavor, the Big Buffalo Wings are your likely choice. We ordered them with Nuclear sauce. I wish I could say I loved them, because they had a beautiful crunch, but they were a tad salty. I couldn’t eat more than 2 at a time without a 10 minute break because their flavor was seeped so deeply into the breading that it was overwhelming. I’ll order these again but only if I’m not super hungry and am in the mood for wings and their fries. Now, back to why I get Urban Chicken about twice a week: As a staunch lover of hot sauce, this place wins over the fiery depths of my mouth. In the past year of my UC discovery, I’ve spent a collective of about 4 hours dipping every tiny piece of torn-off UC chicken, and every golden UC fry in their hot sauce. It’s worth the .69 cents and the light bicep workout. I think I’ve made it abundantly clear: This is must-try, must-be-addicted-to fried chicken place. Montclair, Glen Ridge, Bloomfield– don’t let this business fly the coop. This is one fried chicken place that we cannot do without.
