California Steak & Fries

First things first — cash only.
I looked around the food court and nothing really stood out. So I decided to be «safe» and get a sandwich from here. I went with the lunch special — small sandwich, fries, and a drink. I think it was around $ 7. I got the steak w/​mushrooms and cheese. So I’m waiting and watching the cook do his «chopping» show. Um dude, that better not be mine cuz I didnt want onions. He proceeds to put it on the bun then looks at me to see what toppings I wanted. Well, I tell him I didnt want onions (as my receipt shows) so the cashier got it right. I would’ve told him earlier but I wasnt sure if that was my sandwich. So he gets pissy, and starts over. But doesn’t add any mushrooms. Im just gonna let this go cuz its taking way too long. My friend, who walked back to macy’s first and came back to the food court is already back at Panda Express and is eating his food.
Food was alright, would’ve been better if it was exactly how I ordered it. Dude getting pissy because he got my order wrong is horrible service.

Sandwiches are super meaty and juicy. I usually get the 2^nd Combo. Comes with fries and a drink. Fries have that crunch that is good with the ketchup but sucks when it gets soggy. Cash only.

TO DIE FOR! one of my ultimate favorite spots to munch at when I’m at the mall. I always order their philly sandwich. :DROOL FOR DAYS: You;re sandwich gets cooked in front of you its steaming hot and fresh when you get it. Let me tell you juiciest meat ever and the fries are bomb as well. You will definetly leave satisfied

The sandwiches here far surpass the ones found at the Great Steak and Potato chain. Their steak is flavorful and tender and the seasoned fries are habit forming. I like to add some pepperoncinis to my steak sandwich and a splash of malt vinegar… so good!

Located inside the Montebello Mall food court. It is one of the better choices from the numerous chain restaurants.
Love the #2 California Steak II (seasoned steak, grilled onions, mushrooms, melted provolone, hold the bell peppers) on a warm soft roll with tomatoes, lettuce & mayo. It hits just the right spot. mmmmmm
When I want to be «good» then I get the Cowabonga Chicken (chicken, grilled onions and Swiss Cheese, add mushrooms). It’s not the same though, I miss the steak flavor…
You know they are making it fresh just for you because you get to watch the magic happen! I want to get one of those grills in my house!
I usually get the combo special that comes with a regular size sandwich, small fries and a drink for $ 7.50. Not a bad deal since the sandwich is so big, I don’t normally finish the fries. And they are some good fries! Love the batter, makes the fries extra crispy and tasty, MMMMM
Can’t wait to come back! I do get cravings for this & have to go more than once a week sometimes.

Not all the Steak & Fries from the local malls are the same.
This one is by far the BEST. Their seasoned fries are delicious, and you won’t find em this good anywhere else.

This place has been at Montebello mall for ages, but didn’t try it until a friend suggested it about a year ago.
I really like their steak sandwich, and my dad’s always been a fan of the fries. I was a little disappointed when I saw their avocado comes out of a jar, but it still tastes good.

Flove this place. Not only is it a good deal but it’s fantastic. The steak is tasty, the rolls are fresh, the fries are crisped and seasoned. Add a side of cheese sauce, and it’ll take you to heaven.

Real steak and fresh chicken magically prepared before your eyes. Get a large and eat all day. This place has great quality, service and flavor.

Oh man, I love living at home because it’s pretty much guaranteed that my dad will visit this place once a week and bring me back a California Steak Sandwich II (roman numeral 2) for lunch [fyi: the one without bell peppers, mushroom, and onions is just called the California Steak Sandwich.] You get so much for what you pay in terms of both tastiness AND size. Any time you throw onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers in with steak, you have yourself a guaranteed winner. Add some lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, provolone, and fresh bread? Goodbye Subway, hello California Steak & Fries!
One sandwich will feed me for lunch AND dinner, and possibly a late night snack. Order some seasoned fries too, and you have yourself a feast (okay, not really, but you cannot deny the deliciousness.)
I really have nothing more to say other than skip all other places in the food court (with the exception of Mongolian BBQ), and get a steak sandwich here!

I like coming to this mall to eat here, yummness with cheese on the side to dip my sandwich and fries.

This place is delicious! One time I was driving buy with the company truck and I was compelled to stop by and make an order even though it wasn’t my lunch time.=D The menu is simple and it doesn’t take long for them to make the food. They only take cash so be prepared. As you walk along the counter with your tray you see your food get prepared. At the end of the counter you are asked is you want any condiments on your sandwich like mayonnaise. You serve yourself ketchup in little cups. They also have a bottle of Tapatio hot sauce that I like to mix into my ketchup.

Probably the best place in the montebello food court at the mall.
Very good sandwiches made fast and fresh right in front of you.
The combo is a great deal.
My favorite is the «California Steak II» its like the normal one with more stuff on it.
Its suprisingly more tastey then any other «phillyish» steak sandwich I’ve had about anyplace.

I’d say a 5 for the montebello town center. If you some how end up eating at the montebello mall, this place is your best bet.
Go with a steak sandwich combo and you can’t go wrong. It’s not called steak and fries for any other reason.
Great food, and you can see them cooking it so you know it’s done well and clean.
