Established in 2011.

Montecito Aesthetic Institute was founded in 2011 by Dr Joseph Chang, MD. MAI’s state of the art facility was create with a forward thinking artist vision; to represent the fluid connection between art and medical and non-​medical beauty procedures.

For over a decade Dr Joseph Chang has successfully overseen his two eye and laser clinics in Kern County, and finally his vision to expand into Santa Barbara county has been realized. With a continual commitment to quality improvement, Dr. Joseph Chang is Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.

At MAI, we strive to provide quality care through the latest, most advanced technologies available. We also recognize that even the greatest medical developments are only as good as the difference they make in people’s lives. Business Owner

Joseph H. Chang, M.D., board certified ophthalmologist, has been practicing the most advanced techniques for plastic surgery of the eyelids and aesthetics facial rejuvenation since the year 2000. He obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from Emory University in Atlanta GA and later completed his residency in Ophthalmology at UCLA’s esteemed Jules Stein Eye Institute, where he now serves as a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Chang is committed to staying at the forefront of all of the latest advancements in eye surgery to ensure his patients receive the best care and treatments possible.

With his keen aesthetic sense, Dr. Chang masterfully blends the technical and artistic sides of his work, providing an integrative approach for a variety of patients needs.
