We have been using Beatriz for several years now on a custody battle with my step daughter. However today… today was a miracle. She went to battle for us, and took an almost detrimental judgement against our favor, and turned it in a 360 degree verdict! Let me first say that Beatriz is the best and strongest person to have to represent you in family court. I first hired Beatriz to represent me in April of 2010. Unfortuantly my case was very hard and complicated and dragged on for about two years, but Beatriz is a fighter and would’t quit until I got what I needed in court. Court was emotionally difficult and a nerve wreaking experience but Beatriz was the rock and clearity that I needed and she always looked out for the best interest of myself and the custody of my son. She knew exactly what moves we needed to take and the next step in order for us to win our case. She is SMART. There are may rights and laws that I didn’t know existed that I was entitled to and she made sure I was going to get those rights (and I did). Her attorney fees are VERY REASONABLE. She’s good at what she does, so you pay what you get; without feeling that your money just went to waste. The office staff is very professional and very caring.
This is VERY hard to find when you are in the middle of legal procedings. I would recommend her with confidence to anyone looking for a great lawyer for family court. My case is now over, but if I didn’t have Beatriz to represent me, I’m sure I wouldn’t have had a fair result to my case where both myself and my son were happy. I have had Beatriz now since dec 2008. I am still fighting in court through no fault of hers but because of a crazy ex. I was referred to her through a friend and have been working with her since. If you want your hand held constantly, she’s not the attorney for you. She’s EXTREMELY busy and hardly has time to talk but she will get it done as long as you do your end of the work by providing documents that are needed.
I am a single father of one amazing son and to make a long story short, Beatriz got me 90% physical custody and sole legal custody. It took years but when I recently took my son out of the country to see his family for the first time this year (couldn’t do it before), I smile thinking it was all worth it!
Tomorrow I am going to have another hearing to determine how much child support I should be getting and there’s no other attorney I would feel comfortable going into «battle» with then Beatriz Pelayo!

Reading the other clients reviews reminds me of the same experience I had recently. I only saw Beatriz during the consult and payment of the retainer, after that, my case was juggled between the paralegals that work there. None of my paperwork was reviewed by Beatriz. I had to spell check all the paperwork since the work being done was poor. It took at least six months to get any paperwork started and topics we agreed to discuss in court were not even mentioned in the paperwork. I was later told that we did not agree on certain topics and that they could be done at another time (of course at an additional fee). Also, the clerk (which is Beatriz’s mother) is rude and nosey, she was aware of my case which I’m sure is a violation of client-​lawyer confidentiality. Needless to say, Beatriz kept the retainer money and refuses to return it. I am unable to get another lawyer at this time and will attend court very soon without one.

Beatriz has a heart of gold. She is very pragmatic and factual, does not hide behind vague promises. She tells it like it is. Her office is always humming with activity but she has good staff to keep up. Her attitude, unlike so many attorneys, is not to «go get the other guy for all they’re worth». It’s more about successful negotiation with opposing party, and about getting a fair shake in front of the judge when negotiations fail. She is calm and confident in court, truly professional. She is sympathetic and understands what I went through as her client. She has a deep knowledge of the court’s inner workings and rules, and this experience sets her apart.

We have tried 4 attorneys and law firms and fired the first 3 and have stuck with Beatriz. She is not the kind of attorney who only cares about milking your time and make your process as long as possible,
Her goal is to help you get fairness in the court as fast as possible. She will tell you what is considered as reasonable in the court, and what is not. She has worked at court for years and she knows what is a good time to propose to judge and when should stop talking.
The various documents she filed for us covered everything we wanted and she would use really powerful words to show judge that we had been treated unfairly.
She sincerely cares about our case and gave us great help, and most importantly, she helped us get fairness in the court as fast as it could be (she pushed the opposing attorney really hard to end the case as fast as it could be)!

Just want to start off saying that if you could give a negative rating, that’s what I would have done.
Consultation went great and she bragged about how she wasn’t in it for the money but to help those less fortunate in the community. She made me feel comfortable, was easy to talk to, and I was confident in her ability to represent me. Money was the last thing that we talked about and it didn’t matter what she was going to quote me because I had met with so many lawyers and our consultation was by far the best and smoothest. She did mention that she was very flexible with payment but it was a lot lower than what everyone was quoting so I payed in full. First part was done.
She asked that I make another payment in order to finalize my orders, made the payment and here I am 6 months later still waiting. I have made numerous phone calls and sent god only knows how many emails and haven’t spoken to her since she accepted my last payment. Figured that with the type of people she usually works with in the «community she wants to serve,» she probably gets away with this often which is why she is able to afford to charge substantially less than other lawyers and still keep her head above water. My advice is STAY AWAY!
Filed a complaint with the Bar Association so hoping she doesn’t get away with this again.
