Been coming to this location since this location popped up. The main store is chinatown. They pride themselves in having the best chicken quality and I can taste it. Nothing beats fresh chicken handled by people who actually cares about their customers experience. Very time I go, I can pick out the one I want. They also have variety. Black, brown and fresh eggs!!! I pick up my chicken wings, bones for soup and thighs here. They also have fresh chicken breast. You can’t taste the difference between supermarket bought versus Shang lee! Highly recommended!

If you’re seeking out fresh chicken, here is the place! It is the same shop as the one in Chinatown so it saves you the trip. You pay a slight premium for its freshness, so if you’re generally used to supermarket prices, you won’t get them here. (+): –So many different types of chicken! –More spacious vs. the Chinatown shop. They also have additional merchandise available in case you want to buy oranges, noodles, tofu, flavored soy, egg tofu, sausages, bread, etc. They have ingredients for soup as well. –Convenient parking lot vs. in Chinatown (-): -$ 15 minimum if you want to use your credit card

Ok. Here’s the scenario. 1. The lady used her hands(with gloves) picked up some raw chicken wings for us. Put it in a bag. 2. The same lady took that bag to the cash register. 3. She weighed and priced the wings. Then proceeded to scan a bottled water which I selected from the fridge with the same gloves that touched the wings. 4. Handed the bottle back to me with the same gloves that touched the raw chicken wings. 5. Then she asked for $XX.XX. Took cash from our hands with the same gloves that touched the raw chicken wings. 6. She returned the change back to us with the same gloves that touched the raw chicken wings. Salmonella. That’s all.

If you want fresh chicken… here is the place! You know it! I mean most Asians go to the their local super market to get their chicken, but I come here. I totally recommend it here because first of all… it’s cheaper and it’s probably more fresh than you think! I usually get a whole chicken here and ask them to cut it into fours so it’s easier for me to cook later on. Plus I honestly don’t like chopping up animals on my own. It makes me super sad! Okay so they sell drumsticks here, chicken breast, and little small market-ish items in the back. Oh if you’re Chinese or Vietnamese, you probably heard of duck eggs. Yes you got it right! They have fresh duck eggs here and yum yum yum. If you want recipes on how to make them… Google it online hehe. If you love animals too much or think it’s too disgusted, I’m sorry. I apologize and just don’t Google it. Oh did I forget about the location? So it’s located on Garvey in Monterey Park in the corner of. opps forgot. Anyway you’ll find it if you press Directions on Unilocal haha. The parking lot is shared with a couple of other businesses but it’s honestly big enough, so no worries about finding a parking space like the markets. I mean people are usually in and out when it comes to this market. No reason to stay any longer or else you might smell like chicken… uhh not cool. The ladies that work here all speak Chinese, but they do speak a little English. At least they’ll know if you want what kind of chicken, size, price, etc. Alright, that’s all from me today. Make sure you all check it out!

If you cook chicken then Shang Lee Market is the place to go. They got 5 different types of chicken and different prices for however you want to prep your chicken. Some are better for soup, some with a better texture. YOUPICK!

3.5 really… just because they have a B rating for a poultry market. We come here often to get our chicken. My dad translates it as «virgin» chicken which means that the chicken hasn’t had eggs… something like that. Really though… I wouldn’t know the difference. Once we cook the chicken, I can’t complain. Quite tasty, fresh, and juicy! –Give it a try!

It’s a small market with few items. They only have chicken and duck… no rabbit or squab. Reasonable prices.

Parking: Own parking lot shared with a laundry mat. Other than the fresh chicken the inventory is low. This place is really expensive and lack variety of items. There are better super markets out there but if you want chicken, this is the best place to go.
