Cat’s Meow

You guys keep my hubby stocked in vintage cufflinks and bowties. I’m not sure whether to thank you or to ask you to please stop (grin). We love the eclectic selection (try saying THAT really fast a dozen times) and the friendliness of the staff. Always helpful, never mean. And somehow, they always manage to come up with JUST what you didn’t even know you needed! Costume party? Yes. Everyday vintage style? Yup. Friendly? Reasonably priced? Great stuff? Yes yes and yessss! Highly recommend this as a place to browse and discover that hidden treasure you just have to have!

Went in for the cool signs, stayed for the amazing merchandise and good customer service.

I’m heading there today in seach of Old Hollywood Glam for New Years Eve party.
Last week, I walked in (that’s how local I am… sans my car just on walk about in this paradise) to scan the racks. I spied a 1950 style sailor jumpsuit and heart covered high heels. Tried on. Bought both. Size funny with Vintage. Try stuff on. EXTRA SMALL? I’m 5’10″ and slender but not extra small. Jumpsuit was made for me. Anchors aweigh my boys. .
One never knows if Cats Meow is a going to have what you love but it is an especially fun gal pal day try or a very unique California gift idea if you are visiting.
Walk away from the shark/​otter tshirts and try a Cats Meow über girlie something special.

Some very unique clothes. Enjoyed searching for vintage treasures. Found several lovely skirts and a very cute sweater. All at very reasonable prices.
So why only three stars? They have this ‘fortune telling’ machine near the front door with a very loud man’s voice. Every few minutes this machine blurts out a loud obnoxious comment. These pre-​recorded verbal blast are not only annoying, but disturbing to the shopping experience. This boutique would be better served with some snappy music that enhances the time spent shopping.
I might go back… but only after the ‘fortune telling’ machine gig has run its course.

This store has lots of good quality finds! On this occasion, I was specifically looking for an outfit that I could wear for an 80’s themed party. I was very pleased to find there was a variety of options to consider and taken back by how neatly the items were organized. I enjoy the shops appearance and décor; suiting for a vintaged clothing store. While hitting up vintage shops I like to go piece by piece on the racks because you never know what you might stumble across. It is very clear that the owner takes pride in their store by the quality pieces you find and the authenticity of the vintaged items as well as knick-​knacks and accessories. The gal at the counter was super helpful, friendly and gave me some tips and pointers. The seamstress even came out and chatted with me on my finds and gave me her opinions while I tried on some really fun 80’s pieces. The items I purchased, as well as browsed at, all seemed to be priced fairly. I will continue to shop at the Cat’s Meow and highly suggest if you’re looking for some unique pieces of clothing or vintaged items to give them a visit!

I have been in here a zillion times, usually find some unique cool things, today was no different. the owner, Melinda, really knows her merchandise and cares about what you want. Truly the most unique and varied blend of clothing I have ever seen. Fair to great prices. vintage treasures and funky party/​costume goodies !

This place is AWESOME! If you have never been you need to check it out!

Originally got dragged into here by my roommate for girl’s clothes shopping. I’m not a female, so I was like this is entirely useless to me. However, I went inside and was pleasantly surprised by the content of the store. They have more than women’s clothes, that’s for sure!
If you’re looking for cool little nick-​nacks, they have a wide variety of stuff. And yes, they have a small corner in the back of stuff for men too!
I’m giving this place 4 stars only because the pricing of stuff. I’ve gotten a painting for $ 20, yet there was this bracelet I wanted for a friend that was priced 30 but only worth like 10. The cashier wasn’t open to barter, which kinda sucked, but I ended up buying it anyway.
I’ll definitely be back though! Great thrift store, and definitely worth stopping by.

Great selection, organized & very easy to look through everything. Didn’t find what I was looking for (evening gown) but came across the cutest Nicole Miller top, a unique sundress and loved their selection of boots — will definitely be back!

Tons of great vintage stuff for men and women, accessories, and so much interesting non-​clothing items. It’s really fun to poke around and see not only what’s for sale, but the décor of the place”. Helpful and friendly staff.

The Cat’s Meow has an awesome selection of vintage clothing and the rarer items that are up on the walls are to die for. They are polite, helpful, and you can’t beat the prices.
The location is great (near Cannery row on a main street), and I also loved their creative window display.

I like this place. They have cool clothes and accessories. The lady at the counter was at first kind of not so nice, but she warmed up and turned out to be really cool! If you like vintage and interesting items try it out!

A tiny treasure of good taste and artfully collected clothing, jewelry, and décor. Impeccable staging is fun simply for the experience of creative genius. Collectors of vintage and costume jewelery will rejoice. Stylish is as stylish does.

Stumbled into this quirky shop after a long day of shopping on cannery row. Wow this was a breath of fresh air after being in touristy shops all day long!
Cats Meow has gorgeous vintage items as well as newer items for sale. As I looked through the rows of dresses the prices weren’t bad either! I pulled out a beautiful denim dress with red stitching from the 1960’s and it was only 40 bucks! Not bad. Sadly it looked way too small, a problem I hit while shopping vintage. (why were people so tiny back then?!)
Anyways, as I shopped I saw tons of adorable hats. I tried on many but couldn’t find any that really felt «me». I am now on the hunt for a sweet pillbox hat, or fur cap. Also, prices on these were not bad at all. From 19 – 40 range. I would say most though fell below 30! For the quality and condition of these hats it wasn’t horrible at all.
The worker at the time was also super helpful. It was busy in the store and she still took the time to show me how to wear a certain hat. Love that.
Sadly I left empty handed :(I hope I get another chance to visit this groovy little shop.

I can’t tell you what my friend bought at this store, but I can tell you they saw it in the window and we had to stop and find parking just so they could buy it.
I wandered around waiting and staring at things until something on a mannequin called to me. I shouldn’t have even tried it on. It looked too expensive. But I shrugged into it anyway. The sleeve lining sucked. I didn’t care.
The fact that it fit perfectly wasn’t such a stretch, but the fact it was a man’s coat and fit perfectly was surprising. I took it off and hung it back up. There was a huge line to pay and I was positive it was far too much, 130.00 maybe, at least over 50.00.
We walked to the store next door and I couldn’t help pining over the coat. You should at least ask, my inner voice whispered. C’mon. Never hurts to ask.
So I left my friends behind and walked back into the store to find no line and the clerks right next to the coat. Perfection. One phone call and some negotiation later and I owned the most sexy steampunkish generals coat evah.
And all for 35 bucks.
Oh yes Virgina, there is in fact someone up there who digs me.

It is precious vintage fair in an ornate and well-​flowing space. There is always something new and spectacular on the floor. The window displays are inspired! They tastefully and creatively represent the store’s vast inventory. It’s no wonder why the owner has her hand in every fashion show in town. The next time I have a half a day to spare, I’ll be playing at Cat’s Meow.

This place is well curated, it feels like a place where sophisticated burlesque dancers might shop. Lots of sexy and feminine clothes and accessories.
If you didn’t want to dig through all the clothes at Goodwill you could come here and pay a bit more for someone else to identify all the cool stuff and arts & crafts it into cool-​itude :)

I was visiting Monterey came across this awesome little shop full of so many unique articles of clothes and cute owl beanies, vintage finds, shoes and tons of other interesting things to explore! I definitely recommend

Quick review of store: it’s nicely set up, interesting pieces. Lots of unique jewelry pieces. I brought an item from the 50% off rack– so I felt I got a steal:) will go back to see what other treasure’s I might find!

Small store, but the clothes are interesting… I didn’t find anything on my recent visit but maybe next time.
