Comcast Service Center

What do you expect? It’s Comcast Xfinity. Terrible prices, sooo overpriced, especially in this area. Terrible customer service. They try to sell you stuff, tell you about a promotion and before you even get a chance to think about it they say «Shall I sign you up?» When you try to ask questions about the promotion and when it ends, they are aggressive in trying to get you to sign up before you can realize that it’s not a good deal. They also do not tell you the minor details about deals, such as when the promotion ends, or if it is a contract or month-​to-​month, and you must ask these yourself. They are not straightforward or transparent and try to hide fees and contractual obligations in their fine print. Make sure you ask many questions like «When does the promotion end?» and «What will the price be when the promotion ends?» Because they will NOT tell you this stuff upfront. You won’t realize it until after you sign up and it’s too late.

The employees are very nice but I’ve run into several problems with them.
First, the store closed at least 20 minutes earlier than it should have.
Second, they convinced me to change plans to one that was «cheaper» but they actually charged me $ 20 more than my original plan. Fortunately, they were more than willing to remove the extra charges.

Walked in with no wait. Service was friendly and efficient. I was out in 10 minutes with a new X1 box. Very happy they have a location here.

I can’t believe I have to give them one star. This has to be the worst outfit I have ever dealt with. Sending us equipment in the mail we never ordered (twice!), a bill that suddenly changes monthly??? Even daily if you do any maintenance over the phone, which we have lost numerous hours of our lives we will never get back. I am gob smacked at the inept customer service. How has this company survived this long?

Comcast Pacific Grove has stood me up for appointments for three days, put me off one and I am now waiting for a technician to arrive on day five of my Comcast tragic epic. Customer service means less than nothing to these people. I’ve spent more than two hours on the phone with more than 15 different people only to be disconnected twice and patronizingly placated most times and have gotten precisely NOTHING accomplished. Still have no internet service and am on my fourth data overage from Verizon. If only there was another ISP that was any good, I would switch in a flash. ARGH!

This Comcast ‘Service Center’ failed to log my returned Cable Box, Remote or Cancel my Cable Service when I requested in person at this Monterey Location. The Representatives were standing around talking as I entered and appeared annoyed by the intrusion of a customer. After requesting to have my cable service cancelled, keep my internet service and return my dvr box, one of the 3 Comcast employees reluctantly accepted the equipment, scanned it into the system and assured my that my service would be cancelled the next billing cycle. I discovered later that Comcast continued to automatically withdraw over $ 150/​month for the dvr rental and cable service and when I phoned Comcast to request that they refund the overcharge, they told me that I ‘waived my right to a refund’ by not catching their error in time!
I am in the process of switching all of my personal and business away from Comcast. They demonstrate unethical business practices from the top down and treat their customers poorly. Direct TV is much better for TV. Any suggestions for Internet in Monterey?

I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad experience with this Comcast location. I’ve lived in Marina for almost 3 years and the few times I’ve gone in I’ve been helped quickly and professionally. I’m moving out so I went in with my cable box and wires to cancel my service and was out within 10 minutes.

i call for service, they give me to a person, first in «india» then «manila» and finally «mexico» ??? all i wanted to do was to speak to someone in the united states. i work here, pay my taxes here and raised my kids here…

Horrible customer service. I had set up install of new service over phone and went in to pick up cable box. First off, only one other customer being served and 2 other employees behind desk and neither looked up to acknowledge me when I was looking for who could help me. When I went over, one guy said to wait while he was booting up his computer. Not a big deal, except for his tone of voice and lack of eye contact. Then, when I explained I needed to pick up my cable box for new service, and he looked up account, he said he couldn’t find anything and there was no such account. I explained I had set it up on the phone and had an email confirmation. HE said, «well, it was cancelled». I expressed my frustration in that I had spent over 40 minutes on the phone deciding on the bundle I wanted, and wasn’t sure I remembered what I needed to try to do it all over again, he was condescending and rude and had an attitude because I was not pleased. He was like, «well, do you want me to set up a new account or not?». When, I wanted explanation about how it could have gotten cancelled in the first place, he was flippant. I finally said, well, fine, I guess I need to start all over to set it up, but I needed to see all the plan options again. He rudely, said, then to just go over to the other representative to do it, because he didn’t like that I was frustrated at their incompetence. WOW! really? You guys screw up and that act indignant that I, the customer, am frustrated at dealing with YOUR mistake! Anyway, I attempted to start the order over with other rep, and she was slightly more pleasant, but she was unable to get me the same package that I had at same price, and didn’t care, and was like, «well, that’s what the price is». I told her that is not what I originally had set up. Finally, I gave up with their attitudes and unhelpfulness and went home and called in to RE-​set it up… The rep on the phone was VERY understanding, apologetic and tried to figure out what went wrong that my order was cancelled, then made sure to get me re-​set up on the same plan at same price. If you don’t like where you work, people, get a new job! But, you have a lot to learn about customer service!

Went to the Comcast/​Xfinity store/​office in Monterey on Fremont and received awesome customer service from Ann. She was not only knowledgeable, she was attentive to my needs and handled all my issues in a timely fashion. I read all the negative coments on Unilocal in regards to this location and came in with very low expectations and can honestly say I was more than surprised. I can only say I received excellent 5 star service

I almost hate to give «evil» Comcast a good review, but I’m very happy so far (two plus months) with the wireless Internet access they’ve provided. Speed and access are good well over 90 percent of the time. But the software for diagnosing Internet access problems is useless. Their cable service, which I’ve had for years, has been pretty reliable. Granted, they do raise cable prices every so often, and my wireless costs will probably go up significantly after the first six months, but so far, I’m happy with them.
Their local office staff seem pretty helpful – they gave me a pretty good deal on combined cable & wireless. But they should have provided comprehensive written instructions on setting up wireless. It was confusing as all hell, so I had to call and have a technician sent out. Each person I dealt with quoted a different rate for having a technician come out. Nice guy, but it took him a looooong time to get things right, and then he took my old cable remote – including my rechargeable batteries, which I forgot were in there, & gave me a new one. I’m not thrilled with the new remote – not very logical or ergonomic. But, hey, most people in this world have much bigger problems.

Customer service seems annoyed when the customer, who is supposed to be always right, complains about problems with their service. Bottom-​line: Worst over the phone customer service I’ve ever had. I have to use their web based customer service because I can’t keep my composure when forced to deal with their unintelligent, unhelpful agents on the phone.
Internet service is intermittent and has a weak signal. Customer service tried to tell me that my devices were the problem and then they quoted me $ 79 to send out a technician. They treated me like I had no idea what the internet was or how it works. After several experiences I have learned that it is a waste of time to talk with anyone other than a manager.
On the bright side, I have had three house calls by technicians. They are all polite and helpfull… an extreme contrast with the service over the phone and internet. BUT… they always arrive at the late end of their 2-​hour window if not after it.
Wireless Internet service is still poor. Most likely due to lousy modem/​router provided by comcast.
I am now in the process of finding new service from AT&T U-Verse…really anyone other than comcast will do.

Every step of the way with comcast has been filled with unprofessional behavior and lies.
I paid $ 15 for self install kit which included a splitter and cable… only to find out that my house wasn’t wired for comcast after attempting to set this up and spending hours on the phone. They arranged for a technician to come out days later and told me there would be no cost. The next day, I saw a technician wandering around in my yard unexpectedly. He told me he was sent to do outside work to run a cable from the pole to my house, but wasn’t ordered to do inside work. He said if he got the order from dispatch he would be happy to do it. I spent another hour on the phone trying to arrange for this since he was already here and willing to do it, but was told no-​go. Days later, the inside technician came and set the rest up. I signed a paper that indicated no charges would be made for this setup service. I was told on the phone that billing would begin this day as I didn’t have access to services prior.
All of this was FALSE. I got charged $ 50 for a «failed self install”/technician to come out AND $ 15 for the self installation. The billing started days before i even had services activated! I’ve been on hold this morning for over an hour and am being told I need to waste my time going into the franchise center to present this information. I’m furious with their disrespectful behavior and flagrantly inaccurate billing.

An appt. was scheduled for a tech to hook up service ‘at the pole’. I picked-​up my own equipment because I was informed I could install this myself as I was a PREVIOUS customer.
Long story short NO ONE CAN (or WILL) GIVE ME AN ANSWER — ANY ANSWER.
Waiting for the Installer, promised to arrive between 12 noon and 2 PM PDT. It is now 5:01 PM PDT. I’ve seen an install drive past my street at 3:30 PM!
«Jeff» from Marina (Truck 53) arrived just now — 5:08 PM w/​an attitude… such that not only am I writing a report, the Colorado Springs office is sending a report to his manager in Marina.
I BEG YOU — DO NOT SWITCH TO COMCAST if you’re interested in service.

We had Comcast at home and requested it for our new business location. The service is more expensive with less additions that home service. The sales people aren’t up front or clear about the billing and services. It took two weeks to get an installation appointment with a 4 hour window. They showed up at the last minute of the 4 hour window and still took 2 hours to hook everything up. So disappointed and the saddest part is that you can never talk to anyone who actually cares.

Called Comcast and said my internet service is too slow and signal too weak. They said I needed a new modem, and they sent one. New one now installed, and signal is weaker than ever! Okay, so I’ll call them and ask for help. Grrrr. .. on hold for Comcast for 32 minutes (after being advised of a 15-​minute wait. .. and then they hung up. I’m ready to call another provider right now! :(

Comcast recently discontinued Economy Internet (1.5Mbps) in favor of Economy Plus (3.0Mbps). Having been with AT&T before, I thought I was going to have to call in to get my speed changed for the same price. Comcast automatically upgraded me without any additional charge. That’s pretty cool! I’m still happy with their service, and they still beat ma bell on pricing.

Even though I no longer have Comcast, this is not a review for their service, but a review for the Monterey Service Center.
It’s clean.
It’s got a great staff.
It’s not in Salinas.

I went into this spacious and crisp Comcast office yesterday to pick up an adapter. I was greeted on arrival. They were super helpful and I was out of there without a struggle.
An added bonus: it’s within walking distance of my apartment!

New location in Monterey, opened today 2÷15÷2011. Yeah! Finally, Comcast has a new office on the Monterey Peninsula. Thank You!
