Cypress Garden Nursery is a full service garden center with a wonderful selection of plants, plant materials, garden accessories and has a unique gift store, which is filled with beautiful and handcrafted items from many local artists, unique educational children’s toys and beautiful gift cards.

The Landscape Division offers a full range of services including irrigation, hardscaping — paving, low voltage lighting, tree work, water features, maintenance and new contstuction. We work on both commercial and residential landscape projects to meet your specific needs.

We service the Monterey Peninsula, Salinas, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Pebble Beach areas.

History

Established in 1952.

Yukio and Mariko Sumida started the business in 1952. Their son Ray Sumida received his landscape contractors license in 1972. He became president of the Landscape Contractors Association and the President of the California Nurserymen’s Association. We are presently a retail

nursery, landscape contractors and have a gift shop.

Ben is excellent but his mom who works there leave a lot to be desired. I’ve purchased many healthy, lovely plants from here but because of the woman’s rudeness, I won’t go back. It’s sad, because they do have the best center in town.

We went to this nursery today and weren’t super impressed looking around out front. Then we realized there was more plants behind the building. And WOW! They have such a great selection of succulents! They had succulents I have never seen anywhere! They were very reasonably priced as well.
They had seed packets for butterflies, hummingbirds and many other mixes. Lots of trees and some flowering plants.
They had a great selection! I wish I was prepared to get more!
I highly recommend stopping by!

I arrived with specific needs and hoped for a staffer who could help me efficiently but also accurately sort through the options available. Jose filled the bill excellently. He knew the stock, and the individual needs in given circumstances. Jose has knowledge and an easy willingness to be genuinely helpful. Successful and gratifying visit.

WONDERFUL PLACE, GREAT VARIETY
In travelling through Monterey, we wanted to find a nursery with a big variety of plants. After inquiring with some locals, it was recommended to come to Cypress Garden Nursery. We weren’t disappointed.
The variety of outdoor succulents is vast. We were able to get some help and advice from the staff and were directed to some specific varieties. The cashier was also helpful and friendly and I love the two dogs greeting the customers.
This is a great place for the supplies you need for your garden. Enjoy!

I called Cypress Garden to see if they could help with a birthday gift for my mother who lives near by. i live in LA so for me i needed someone i could trust and who could give me some great ideas. Ben answered the phone and spent 15 minutes going through different ideas with me, gave me a varied price range and charged a minimal delivery fee. He arrived on time to my mom’s and took the tree to her back yard, and then gave her much needed advice on her plants, just because. :) this is a top notch nursery and i will continue (as will my mom) to use their services.

This is a good full-​size nursery, with a wide selection of different kinds of plants. I came here looking for some succulents, and they had a pretty wide selection (8 – 10 varities) at decent prices — about $ 12 for 1 gallon pot size plants. The woman who helped me seemed like she really knew her plants, and was friendly. The shop inside has the usual things you would want from and nursery, including «normal» tools, but also handmade expensive Japanese garden tools.

I could spend hours in this nursery (and I don’t even have a garden! I live in a dumpy apartment complex in PG)
The store that is housed in the Nursery has the finest selection of quirky off beat goods that I have ever come across — almost like «Never on a Sunday» but I think even more items.
The people that work there are so meh! That’s the only downside for me.
