Monterey Bay Property Management provides complete management, tenant locator services, and an A La Carte menu of both short and long-​term residential vacation rental properties. We manage over 350 properties ranging from studios to villas. Our company is dedicated to making property ownership worry-​free and rewarding for owners, to making being a resident in the properties we manage a true pleasure, and to having fun working toward these goals. We enjoy the challenges this presents, and we are known throughout the industry for our enthusiasm!

History

Established in 1986.

Monterey Bay Property Management was established in 1986. MBPM has become the «go-​to» company for creative property management. Many of our current customers have come through the referrals of satisfied clients. MBPM is a member of the Monterey Peninsula/​California/​National Association of Realtors, the National Association of Residential Property Managers, and the Vacation Rental Managers Association. Involvement in these organizations and the community has led to the establishment of Monterey Bay Property Management as the property management leader in the Monterey Bay. Local landlords and tenants look to MBPM as the model of property management practices. Our policies and procedures have been emulated by others in the industry both locally and nationally. We are flattered that others consider us the property management experts, and we work hard to live up to those expectations!

Manager

Jan is the founder of Monterey Bay Property Management. Jan has a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees in Education, and prior to entering the real estate field, taught at the secondary, undergraduate and graduate levels. Jan speaks on property management at the local, state and national levels and frequently serves as an expert witness in legal cases related to landlord-​tenant issues.

if you own premium rental property on the Monterey peninsula, do yourself a favor and recruit Monterey Bay Rentals to manage it… it is worth every penny because they provide excellent customer service to both the tenant and the owner. I appreciate Jan and her service team because they are efficient and represent the property as if it were their own. Their all-​inclusive services have allowed me to get instant income from my vacation home without the hassle and headache of the legalities of renting as well as providing maintenance services. Vacationers and those individuals on temporary work assignments who do not want to stay in hotels for 1 — 6 months benefit from the firm.

We really did some research as far as hotels and other rental properties. Sometimes it’s hard to find a good fit when you’re traveling with animals. So happy we ended up with this rental. It was absolutely perfect for the dogs. The backyard was huge and the views were incredible! Sail-​away was the vacation rental we had, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with another bedroom in a little outside unit. The only negative is that the bathrooms are both master adjacent. Wasn’t a big deal for us but I could see if you’re traveling with a group of friends it might be a little cumbersome. We’ll most certainly be coming back to this property.

Please tell me why it takes this vacation rental place to take almost a year to return a deposit… We rented from them last september of 2013. We cleaned the property from head to toe they said they would send it back. I think they are CROOKS. I do not recommend them at all. Monterey is full of great rental agencies to rent from for your vacation needs or short term rentals. Dont let them steal from you as they did us. It is now July of 0214 and we still havent received it. I call them almost every week.

if you’re looking to book a vacation rental and want a painless way to do so, monterey bay property management is a great choice.
i had looked at hotels, airbnb, craigslist, etc before finally settling on monterey bay rentals. they have the easiest booking policy, are extremely responsive, and will take care of any issues during your stay. they will also periodically check in to see how you’re doing.
i loved that they have an easy reservation system (online), great photos that really represent their properties well, a large selection of properties (condos to large mansions), and properties are priced right (some cheaper than hotel stays).
i worked with michelle larkins and stayed at the ocean habor beach house, which was literally right on the beach. i had a few issues to start, and they were addressed within 24 hrs. i even requested a few items which they promptly provided.
coordinating keys to check in and out is easy — you pick up at their location and drop off at their location.
*** one issue that i didnt like was the reservation charge and mandatory housekeeping fee, which if you stay awhile
adds up.***
overall recommended!

I am currently stationed in Monterey (NPS) and was looking for a vacation home for my parent’s visit. I researched online and found Monterey Bay Property Management with their wide selection of vacation rental homes. Their website was user friendly and their staff was extremely accommodating. I stop by their office and talked with Jan, which she recommended one of their vacation homes in Pacific Grove. My parents loved the vacation house. They were amazed how clean, prepared, and how the house instructions were laid out upon their arrival. On a side note, My fiancé and I will be getting married in the summer of 2014 in Monterey and my parents are already booking another vacation home through Monterey Bay Property Management. I first visited Jan and the team at Monterey Bay Property Management in 1997 and had the pleasure of having them as clients for 14 years.
I have worked in the Vacation Rental Software industry since 1995 and have met over 1000 different management companies throughout the USA, I can honestly say that I would place MBPM in the top 10 companies I have ever had the pleasure to work with.
I have stayed in their units and found them to be clean and well maintained, I have met and trained many of their staff and there is no more caring or professional group of people in the industry. They have an uncanny knack of always looking to the future while maintaining excellent service in the present.

Monterey Bay Property Management is a wonderful organization to work with their speciality is matching up visitors with short term vacation rentals and they also help families with long term rentals. I have referred them many times over the years and they have always come through for my clents.

Jan is right on. I posted a positive comment elsewhere on Unilocal & it appears to have not made it into public view. Jan reached out to me after my «unflattering» review & asked what she could do to help our less than desirable housing situation. She answered questions outside normal business hours, set up viewing during my off time, & got the paperwork handled on the weekend, even with the impending football conference game the next day. She proved that her small business still cares about individual service. I would highly recommend thid company & would suggest if you have any problems to contact Jan directly, although Michelle has stepped up to the plate swinging as well.

Wow, I am beyond impressed with Chris Navarro at Monterey Bay Property Management. We needed to find a tenant and he was very easy to communicate with, quick to reply to all my questions, right on top of the whole process and did an excellent job. Monterey Bay Property Mgt has been managing the PG condo unit I own for several years. During that time, they’ve helped me resolve several tenant issues (not of their making). I’ve found them responsive and professional. Jan and my specific manager, Frank, were true partners in going through some unpleasant issues not of their making. The lawyer they recommended to help me navigate a thorny issue was the best in the area and a big help. You can tell a lot about a company by how they work with you to resolve tough issues; they were great. I’m pleased with their services. I had one issue with them early on, called it to their attention and they were very responsive. I have only good things to say about them.
