Myo Pure Frozen Yogurt

Froyo… Myo’s not my favorite place in the world for it, but it’s still good. Their flavors are regularly rotated (though they don’t dare touch the staples: chocolate, tart, and cookies-​n-​cream) and some are interesting, like pumpkin, cappuccino, and some seasonal ones. There are 10 flavors (give or take) at any given time. There are also a TON of toppings to pick from, ranging from berries and mochi to the standard sprinkles. Everything is immaculate, which counts for a lot, especially when it’s serve-​yourself. The staff is also friendly and they offer a 10% discount for locals.
My only complaint is the price, which is 50 cents/​ounce. In the scheme of things, this isn’t outrageous relative to similar shops. I have this complaint with the whole froyo industry, really. Nonetheless, Myo gets 4 stars because of it. Still not shabby!

Simply put – hot day, cold yogurt, including options for fat free and dairy free. Nice yogurt & toppings selection. Yogurt is not as icy as what you find at Pinkberry.
Tip: Locals – ask for locals discount.

i needed a little afternoon snack to keep me going through a busy day in monterey, so decided to stop by here. this is another self-​serve, weigh and pay fro-​yo shoppe, that offers several different yogurt flavours and a myriad of wet and dry toppings.
i thought their fro-​yo was just average. i sampled the cake batter and felt that it was a bit icy in texture. i then sampled the chocolate, which i felt was thicker and creamier, but not quite the caliber of some other yogurt café’s. i ended up getting a few ounces of the chocolate, topped with some fresh berries.
customer service was standard. there were a few tables and chairs inside to enjoy your yogurt, but i chose to sit outside and gaze at the sea animals (since the water was just steps away) while i enjoyed my froyo.

I came to MYO instead of going to Pinkberry because I support Local business first! And I wasn’t disappointed!!! Fabulous yogurt, toppings, and staff make this a must return to business!

How can you go wrong when you choose the flavors, toppings and quantities? Staff is always friendly and ready to let you try before you buy!

The frozen yougurt here is really, really good. This is very close to my Mom’s studio, so, when I go visit the folks we would often go here and get frogurt.

Delicious! Came here after dinner for a sweet dessert and it was completely worth the slight walk out of our way. They market themselves as using pure yogurt mixes and I believe it! I tried their cake batter, vanilla custard and irish mint flavors and they were all good. I added fresh strawberries, mint pieces and a small amount of cookie dough as my toppings and the strawberries were definitely my favorite! I wish we had this Frozen Yogurt chain in my town!

Most froyo places have a toppings bar. Myo has a toppings bar, as well as an entire WALL filled with all kinds of different toppings you can dispense out. It’s crazy.
Definitely go here for a sweet cup of froyo if you’re on Cannery Row.

Premium location on cannery row, so it’s more expensive (49 cents per ounce). It’s a spacious place with 8 or 10 flavor selections but lots of toppings.
Self serve flavors:
— Tart is ok — slightly icy and tangy, which I like
— Coffee has no flavor (maybe because it was sugar free?)
— Pistachio was also kind of bland, though it was quite green in color (in an artificial kind of way …)
— Maple bacon donut sounds interesting, but there’s not much bacon flavor in it
Fruit toppings were fresh, and they have a wall full of cereals.
It’s not bad per se, but my cup wasn’t worth over $ 5. However, it is a nice change from the typical ice cream shops in the area. It least they take credit cards.

Pinkberry is all good and well, but I like to go mad scientist and make my own concoctions, not have a cup with things piled on the corners that will invariably spill onto the table.
Myo always has great flavors to choose from, and the additives are almost to the point of sensory overload. I love their blackberry and strawberry banana, and you can never go wrong with vanilla.
Make sure you use your frequency card.

I’m glad they have a frozen yogurt place on Cannery Row considered there are so many ice cream places there already. The frozen yogurt here is just okay – not too creamy. There are decent choices of frozen yogurt flavors and many toppings to choose from. The fresh fruits just looked a bit sad though. I wanted strawberries but the ones in the bucket looked mushy and seem like they’d been there forever.
The cashiers are super nice though. They have great smiles and they greet. A lady who came in a little after me accidentaly poured a bowl full of chocolate flakes and the cashier was nice and just tell her she can just pour them away free of charge. So yeah, becareful when you turn those nozzel of dry toppings.

Myo had some good tasting yogurt in flavors that both my boyfriend and I enjoyed. They also had plenty of topping choices. The only downside was that this place was pretty expensive for frozen yogurt. They charged a pretty penny per oz. but that probably has to do with the fact that they are located in a tourist area of Monterey.

I saw like 15 people walk with huge orange bowls and enjoying a fro-​yo that looked great and told my folks — we have to find where all these people are coming from!
Soon after I found it I knew why everyone who walked past the joint, couldn’t resist to go in and try a sample — There was such a huge variety of toppings and nicely put in transparent tubes (reminded me of the M&M store at Times Sq, NY).
There was also so much fresh fruit, chocolate bites (Yummy kitkat chunks), granola, cereals, candy, almonds and so many other toppings. Also they had around 7 – 8 other caramelized flavors along with hot fudge and milt chocolate on the tap.
In all, great toppings, good price — You should take it with you and walk on the beach or the wharf!

bountiful toppings and great self serve fro yo flavors as well. we were able to snag a seat across the street illegally at the Ghirardelli store (even though we ended up buying chocolate there later) but as far as seating goes, it fills up fast on good days.

This place is one of my main reasons I enjoy visiting Monterey! A couple of years ago I discovered this tiny yogurt shop and absolutely loved it!
The only downside is that they don’t have a huge variety of flavors or toppings, but what they do usually offer the day you walk in taste great! Their yogurt is never horribly tart and has the right amount of flavor (haven’t tried one yet that I didn’t like). It’s a self-​serve place, so you get to load up as much as you want, then they charge you by weighing it after you’ve finished. They don’t have a huge staff, but it’s usually very clean and quiet when you walk in.
I recommend this place to anyone with a sweet tooth visiting Cannery Row! And I hate the fact I live so far away from it because it’s on my mind a lot, lol.

After lunch today, I decided to try Myo Pure Frozen Yogurt. The entire shop was empty, not an employee to be found in sight. Eventually, an employee surfaced from the back. I asked for samples and she was kind enough to serve me the samples of the flavors requested. I ended up picking two flavors– chocolate and pumpkin. The pumpkin was so delicious. The chocolate was standard. I opted for mochi as my topping and it was okay. The condiments seemed half empty and lack luster.
Customer service wasn’t friendly, but it wasn’t terrible. Loved the yogurt but not the toppings bar. The toppings bar just seemed like it needed to be spruced up– a lot! Myo Pure Frozen Yogurt is a delicious alternative to ice cream :)

The husband and I decided to take our SoCal IE frozen yogurt tour north, and boy am I glad I did. I feel the need to quote from the notes I wrote after eating here, and I hope from my other reviews you can find that at least the first half of what I wrote was so uncharacteristic of my writing style that it expresses my high regards of the place:

The froyo here was amazing. The service was almost excessively attentive — there was a guy on staff literally standing out front and explaining the process, but also handing out sample cups, etc. And the toppings bar was awesome.
In my usual description of the décor, I’d have to say that this was a little plain… There was a bit of a Willy Wonka-​ish design in the toppings bar (cranked chutes with toppings), and that was kind of cool. But otherwise, a little plain. Perhaps it’s because the obnoxiousness of the laser maze down the street overshadows just about everything else on Cannery Row in terms of bizarro design!
This place has a discount for locals, and our attentive cashier readily gave us the discount (perhaps I groused a bit about the 45c/​oz price — I don’t recall now, but that sounds about right). Your mileage may vary… but your opinion of the chocolate cherry and cake batter flavors probably won’t: they are magical together.

*good selection of toppings. always well stocked and fresh. there is a bigger selection of gummi candies that im used to seeing. great for the kids.

*being local, i really wish this place wasn’t in a tourist location. because of this, the price is 45cents/​oz. however, if you say you’re local you’ll get a 20% discount. .. which is still kinda pricey for me. they do offer a punch card.
*limited selection of froyo flavors, but pretty good flavors
*froyo is not as creamy as i like it to be, its more on the icey side
overall, this is a good place to stop by when you come to visit cannery row.

After Trailside we decided to head over to Myo for dessert. I’m used to the fryo seen in SoCal but felt strange to see that it had made it’s way up to NorCal.
