Dr. Takashima was born and raised in Japan. When visiting the central coast for the first time, she fell in love with the natural beauty and felt immediately at home. She is very excited to offer the best of Eastern and Western healing wisdoms and integrative medicine to local patients as well as to national and international patients.

Dr. Maki Takashima is a licensed, board-certified naturopathic doctor and an owner of Natural Holistic Wellness Center. Dr. Takashima holds a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, one of the world’s leading natural health institutes. During her time at Bastyr University, Dr. Takashima learned from nationally known physicians in the field such as Josseph Pizzorno, who is a co-founder of Bastyr University and, author of «Textbook of Natural Medicines;», Jane Guiltinan, who was former president of American Association of Naturopathic Physicians; and Bill Mitchell who is a, renowned renown botanical educator, co-founder of Bastyr Uuniversity and an author of «Plant Medicine and Practice.» During her internships, she completed 2 years extensive clinical training. She continuously integrating the latest medical information by attending courses, seminars and conferences to continue to improve her knowledge and skills.
