They have a Clover machine at this location, which makes the best cup of coffee EVER! If you like a good black coffee, order one of their reserve coffees made in the clover.

Beware of the barista wrath… I decided to deviate from the usual latte or black coffee this morning and in the process of talking with a sleepy barista(very nice and helpful) I forgot to say soy. As soon as I remembered I told the barista i needed soy AND apologized.– I can’t have milk – it’s not even an option for me and it was an honest mistake – I’m only human! Low and behold my drink took more than 10 min from that point on. I watched multiple customers who ordered after me walk away and they had TWO baristas working on drinks. Thanks guys… you made me late to my meeting. 2 stars only because the other baristas were nice… not the dude on bar who had no patience for mistakes.

I really hate giving terrible reviews, but the service here is horrendous. Hubby and I stopped in at about 8:50(tonight they close at 9:30). We walked in to see two employees’ backs facing us — one stocking the bottled drinks case on one side of the register and the other wiping the counter down on the other side, seemingly getting ready to close up. There were still a handful of patrons inside, just sitting around. we took about 3 – 4 minutes deciding what we wanted, and in this time were not greeted or even acknowledged in ANYWAY. We proceeded to walk up to the register and still nothing until I said«hi?», to which the blonde barista named Jordon who was wiping the counter down just turns around and without even looking at us, lets out the biggest, loudest sigh, walks past us, behind behind the register, and just stands there staring into the space behind us. After about 15 seconds of silence, my husband just places his order as she marks our cups, huffing and puffing the entire time. The only words she spoke the entire time were: «(eyeroll) that it?», the total, and«need the receipt?». She hastily made our drinks, one of which, was only filled about ¾ way, smh. It was 40 minutes to closing, it only took a few minutes to make our drinks, there’s no need for the ghastly attitude. I abhor bad service so much, you made me wish we’d have just stayed in and had the shitty hotel room coffee.

I asked for a simple decaf coffee. No, they don’t brew decaf past 10 am. Pour –over? no, they don’t do pour over. They tell me I can have a decaf Americano or a decaf clover but I have to pay extra for both. How about they just brew me some decaf so I don’t have to pay more? No. In other words, poor customer service. Every other Starbucks I have been to(there are many) will at least make me a decaf pour over if there isn’t decaf brewed.

I think Starbucks is the benchmark for café’s and coffee spots. So, when you review one of these, you are really comparing them to the other Starbucks you’ve experienced. That being said, the service here is pretty good and a big plus is that they have a clover machine. The coffee is better out of this machine and if you’ve never tried it, just ask and they are helpful recommending the coffee to have them use. The cool thing that I haven’t tried yet is this location supports app orders. The only reason why this location dropped a star is that the seating isn’t as productive as all the other locations. Table space and power outlets are just sub-standard and it’s probably not a good business decision to upgrade the location as so many people just grab-and-go. So, if you want a quick and decent cup of joe, this is your spot. If you want a study nook, try one of the other café’s on the block.

This is my favorite Starbucks the employees are absolutely fantastic and so great at their jobs! They are so knowledgable and efficient I always stop to get my coffee at this location. The baristas are so kind and friendly I love to stop in just to say hi :)

The coffee is good. It would be nice, after they heat up your sandwich, if they would call your name in an audible manner so you know it’s ready. The mozzarella and tomato sandwich was okay, but hardly anything special or memorable.

You need to know what you want in advance prior of coming here. The man, who is older than an average Starbucks’s employee, will make sure that you’re guilty trouble making mistake. Convenient location for downtown.

Could the service be any slower? Lines out the door and two slow servers who don’t seem to care how long the wait is.

Love that this location offers their clover coffee. However I was disturbed when an employee suffered a severe burn while making coffee at the reaction of her co-workers and the management. No reaction! She dumped an entire filter of boiling water and coffee grounds to the floor and they barely glanced at her. She went into the back to attend to her hand and after several minutes, it was one of the customers that went back to check on her. When the customer returned, one of the baristas asked the customer if her co-worker was ok and the customer replied«no. She is badly burned»… Still no reaction. After about 5 min the burned woman returned to work! She had a large visible blister on her hand and was working with one hand. Accidents happen at work and management is responsible to make sure medical attention is provided when necessary. This incident indicated a complete lack of responsibility on the part of management.

They somehow only have the extra charge options available(ex no brewed coffee but feel free to have Clover brewed at extra cost!). In my experience other Starbucks don’t charge extra if they don’t have what you want and suggest an upgrade to you.

Fast service, upbeat staff, and perfectly made drinks. I would definitely return to this location next time I’m in Monterey.

Consistent and Refreshing! This location of Starbucks is located in downtown Monterey. We happened to be enjoying a nice walk and saw the green awning. That Starbucks logo was calling my name. It’s in a great location a main corner. I would say it is one of the larger Starbucks that I’ve visited. The dining area is very large with many many seats and tables. There was a long line, as usual, but it moved very quickly. I’m always happy when I see their process is properly executed. Within a few minutes I was on my way with my latte in hand. Perfectly consistent as always which I why I continue to be a Starbucks customer.

I’ll start this off saying I work at a starbucks(not this location) and I walked in and ordered a lemonade and a venti caramel macchiato. I asked for one less shot of espresso in my drink and the woman at the register argued with me about it. I also asked for extra caramel. Once we got out drinks the lemonade had no ice?(who puts no ice in an iced drink?) and then I got my caramel macchiato which had no extra caramel(which I payed for) and still the extra shot which I did not want. I felt like this Starbucks didn’t really care about what you ordered just to make this drink is all they cared about. Very disappointed.

OK, this is a standard Starbucks, decent location in downtown Monterey and I have had nothing but good service from the staff. Sounds like its a 3 or 4 star place, right? So then why the 2 stars? Read on… Where this Starbucks really gets dinged is all the homeless clowns that use this place as a home base, especially in the mornings. So they sit around, making their cardboard signs for the day talking amongst themselves. One of them hit me up for ‘bus fare to the courthouse’ while he was holding his iPhone in one hand. Anyway, these guys tend to be loud, smelly, and messy… not good for business or for the staff. I am not really sure what the staff can do to prevent this whole homeless crew from hanging out here, but it takes away from the experience and really makes it an unpleasant place to be. But hey, if you drink coffee, they got that here…

I dropped in today and ordered an iced green tea. I received awesome service, but the main reason why I’m writing this, is because I believe the barista who made my drink thought I was upset for having to wait. I’m sorry if I made you think that, or made you feel rushed in making my drink. It’s just that sometimes when I’m waiting for things, I have unintentional b*tch face, even more so when I’m confused. My drink was delicious btw :)

This is the new location that replaced the Starbucks that burned down in 2007 on the same street at 461 Alvarado St from a fire that actually started next door at Quizno’s. The new one is more spacious with a nice outdoor patio. The only drawback for me is lines can be very long(out the door!) in the early morning. A big plus is they have plug strips underneath the center tables so you can plug in your phone, laptop, or device.

This Starbucks In the heart of downtown Monterey. It’s situated at the foot of Alvarado Street at Del Monte. On a sunny summer day this is easily the city’s busiest intersection. This store interior is larger than the average Starbucks. Patio tables are available and can only be accessed by customers. The three young ladies working this day were enthusiastic and accommodating as they worked the long line of customers. You can tell they like their jobs. Our teas were made as ordered. The problem is this coffee shop could use three more workers. The three were over stretched. As a result the tables inside were not bused and the floor was a mess with spills. Outside the patio rails were stained with bird waste. It shouldn’t be this way. This location could be a flagship store for the chain on the Peninsula. The street is loaded with upscale tourists and locals taking a work break. An extra star for the service.

In a very prime location, and with the most hot visitors in town you will find this Starbucks branch. Why it is so so special ? Maybe their comfortable chair or the amazing outdoor seating. If not then it should be their amazing service and their friendly baristas. If all that is not enough then try to find some other coffee shop in Alvarado then call me and I will meet there not to feel lonely, because every body else will be at Starbucks Alvarado ;)

This Is My Monterey Bay(Near) Fisherman’s Wharf Coffee-Chill Stop SITREP You couldn’t ask for a more perfect location to have a Starbucks. Just a couple of blocks up from Fisherman’s Wharf, along the beautiful pathway full of flowers & cacti, almost on the water. The beginning of a scenic walking tour on a beautiful morning or gorgeous afternoon. THESET-UP And I suppose I should say here, that this is a classic mid-level store set-up, with lots of seating & beautiful patio — but no boulangerie savory pastries like in SoCal, and no wine or beer taps like in Seattle [when those 2 things happen, it will then definitely be a 5-Star establishment.] THEPEEPS What I love about this Starbucks is that when I come here it always seems to be populated with some really awesome military students from the Defense Language Institute(DLI) or the Naval Post Graduate School. On this particular occasion, they were sharing with me the intricacies of their current chapter of learning conversational Israeli Hebrew. It looked dam tough! [And on the heels of President Obama’s admissions that we were spying on our allies, I found hiLARious that these young future linquists & cryptologists I was having coffee with would be carrying on that very mission in the future. We talked about that and we LAUGHED about it. THEPATIO Awesome! It actually wraps around two sides of the building structure which also effectively gives this Starbucks two front doors 90 degrees angled apart from one another. This patio is inside a great place to sit. However, we had to set-up inside after about an hour because there were no outlets outside I could find and we needed to juice up our laptops and iPhones. THELOWDOWN An awesome Starbucks stop in the beautiful community of The Monterey Bay.
