Traffic was HORRIBLE for the Elton John concert. Everything was so unorganized and chaotic. We spent over an hour just on Coliseum Blvd, and there were plenty of people still waiting behind us. I seriously think they only had one entrance open for a sold out show with 10K attendees. Needless to say, we missed the first 30 minutes of the show. They had teenagers working as ushers who had no idea where our seats were. They misdirected us, and we wound up in the wrong seats and got booted from said seats. I’m accustomed to attending concerts at actual concert venues in Atlanta and Birmingham where they have this stuff down to a science, so I don’t deal well with the amateur hour I experienced yesterday. Garrett Coliseum should stick to rodeos, monster truck shows, and gigantic flea markets. This facility needs major work and a trained staff if it plans to become a functioning, successful concert arena again. At least we have MPAC…
