This skating rink really does not deserve 1 star. This place is just gross. Tried to order Nachos but the girl did not even acknowledge that we were standing there. Probably a good thing because the place is nasty. The skates are wore out and it was a little scary putting a foot in the nasty skates. Will not be back. Your better off driving to a rink out if town.

A very old skating rink that had its hay day in the early 80’s. They offer inflatables and kids can ride their trikes on select days. The proprietor is very kind and has been running the rink for many years. The location is undesirable(next to a derelict mall) and difficult to find(several of my group passed it). It also doesn’t feel very clean and would not be a place I frequent.

OMG. Growing up in Montgomery there were really not a lot of entertainment options. I started skating in the baby rink around age 3, and before you knew it I was a teenager skating during the couples skate with some dude shorter than myself.. .such a disaster.. .my sister arranged that.. .yup. And this is also where I held hands with my first.. .well, no second boyfriend, and where I also got punched in the stomach.. .hmm. That kinda hurt actually.(Did that girl even apologize?) Hmm. In those days, we would pay penny a pound during the summer. The scales were out, and people were weighed.. .so I ended up paying about .90 to skate the entire night.. .not bad! There were unique staples to Looney’s. The rubber band man. An abundance of Michael Jackson and 80’s boy band music, and all the teenage couples lying horizontally on the back benches making out.. . Shoot the duck songs, simon says, backwards skate, and the occasional overnight skates in which the rink would morph into a dance floor. Time progressed and so did Montgomery – scales were replaced with metal detectors and garbage cans at the door(to discard chewing gum). The crowd seemed rougher and I began to wonder if my only source of solid entertainment would be taken away.. . However, Looney’s has remained grounded in the Montgomery landscape.. .I’m thrilled that it has survived.. . there are countless other memories to be made here.
