Before I we got to Indiana Beach, I wanted to have dinner here after reading the reviews. Not a bad place at all but was expecting a lot more. I ordered their prime rib plate and my better half had the Veal Piccata. She wasn’t impressed and mine was better than average. Not sure if we’d go back. Service was excellent though.

I think this may be the last restaurant in town that we have not been to which is sad because after 5 years here, we obviously saved one of the best for last. Could have been enjoying Jimmy O’s sooner if we had just made the effort to drive to the top of Lake Shafer from the middle of town. Went on a Saturday night and sat in the bar to watch football. It was very smoky in there; this must be the last bastion where smokers are allowed and welcomed. We had the all you can eat pollack which was such a large serving that all we could eat was one serving. I loved it, but SO thought it was OK. Came back the next Sunday with in-laws to try lunch. The dining room is opened until 2 pm, and we walked in at 1:45 pm. They happily seated us, did not rush us out and were so nice. My MIL got the breaded tenderloin which she liked a lot, and I thought it looked great and was the size of a large pancake. My FIL and SO got the ½ lb. hamburgers which they raved about and enjoyed immensely. They will be happy to come back anytime. I got the Italian beef with sausage. It was good too. The fries though were surprisingly good which I always find to be underwhelming at most restaurants. Like all restaurants in Monticello, they are really well priced, like $ 6.95 to $ 8.95 for lunch and dinner being more but with larger proportions and fancier meat, like veal, steak, prime rib, etc. The décor is cute, like wine country kitchen theme, and the place is very clean. We’ve found a new favorite that everyone can agree on.

Stopped in Monticello for the night. Jimmy Os for breakfast was delicious. Get the biscuits and gravy!!! Ask for Darnell! She is wonderful and full of energy! We will certainly be back the next time we are in the area! Eggs were delicious too!

Our first visit will most likely be our last… unless we can go during the week when they’re not busy. We should have taken note when we walked in the door, that even though all the tables were taken, very few people had their meals. Between waiting, ordering, waiting, waiting, waiting, eating, then WAITING even longer to get our bills, we were there for 3 hours. We understand this is a fairly new restaurant, but they aren’t prepared to take care of the amount of customers that they can seat. The food was not exemplary. The ribs were ‘eh’, the prime rib was chewy and not very flavorful, and had it not been for the capers, the veal piccata would have been flavorless. I’m pretty sure we could hear them beating the veal… The kitchen is too close to the dining room, with no door. They just are not equipped to handle a full dining room. During our wait we were offered additional drinks… well, that amounted to 2 glasses of beer, a refill on iced tea, and a glass of water… If you plan to go, take a book, and prepare to sit for a long time if they’re busy.
