Smith, Paulson, O’Donnell and Associates is a team of dedicated legal professionals who use experience, vitality and enthusiasm to advocate for our clients. We are a full service law firm that serves the legal needs of both Metro and Central Minnesota Residents. Our team is made up of five attorneys with over 108 years of combined legal experience, including two Minnesota State Bar Association Certified Specialists; an honor held by approximately three percent of attorneys practicing in Minnesota. Our attorneys are supported by a staff of highly qualified assistants with 47 years of combined legal experience. Our staff includes two paralegals, a legal assistant and the warmest front desk staff around. Our attorneys have been recognized by AVVO​.com, Super​lawyers​.com, and Martindale Hubbard for excellence in their areas of practice.

History

Established in 1968.

The law firm of Smith, Paulson, O’Donnell & Associates traces its history back to October 1968, when Greg and Gary Pringle, fresh out of law school, passed their bar exams and two days later opened a law office in Monticello. Back then there was only one traffic signal light, no freeway, and no real development south of downtown. The new firm grew with the town. Pringle became City Attorney and the Firm successfully annexed the nuclear plant to the City, thereby significantly increasing City revenues. Over the years, Firm associate attorneys have moved on to become County Attorneys, Judges, and law school teachers or started their own law firms.

Meet the Manager

Gerald P.

Manager

Gerald S. Paulson possesses nearly 25 years of legal experience and focuses his practice on criminal law and traffic violations defense, family law, general litigation, and resolution through mediation. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College in Moorhead and his Juris Doctor degree from the University Of North Dakota School Of Law. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and North Dakota and before the United States District Courts for the Districts of Minnesota and North Dakota. Before joining Smith, Paulson, O’Donnell & Associates, PLC, Mr. Paulson was a licensed Peace Officer and County Attorney in Minnesota. He is rostered as a neutral under Minnesota’s court rules for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
