Here at the Red Arrow Inn & Suites we specialize in providing genuine, superior customer service in an ultra clean, comfortable and unique environment. We have recently set a goal to become the most eco-​friendly hotel in Montrose.

History

Established in 1950.

Since the opening of the Red Arrow Inn in the 1950s, we have always been a family operated business with close ties to the community we live. Most recently we have undergone a brand change and have decided to operate as an independent hotel. We decided to keep the name of the Red Arrow Inn alive to pay tribute to the history of the property and the previous owners, as it has never fully changed its name and always been the Red Arrow in one form or another. Through a little research we have determined that the original owners who opened the «Red Arrow Motor Inn» also had another business in town called the Chipeta Café. This owner clearly was paying homage to the Ute Indian History that is so important to the story of our area. Chipeta was Chief Ouray’s wife and Ouray means «Arrow» in Ute, hence the name.

Manager

Shelly has been a part of the Red Arrow Family for over 15 years. She started in the housekeeping department and has worked in every area of the hotel since. She has witnessed the hotel go through many changes and is always happy to talk about the rich history of our property. She is the heart of the hotel and works hard as a manager to ensure that everyone who checks into our Inn is well taken care of.

This place is family run and it shows — they are extremely warm, helpful and do everything they cant to make you feel comfortable. If the Four Seasons had a sibling that was über low budget, this would be it. I staid here when a flight was cancelled out of Montrose. Their staff picked us up at the airport late at night, got us settled and then the next morning had our breakfast already bagged up to-​go since we had to leave before they started serving. Truly, it doesn’t get any better service than this place.
The rooms were very comfortable and extremely clean.

Stayed here one night and wish we could have stayed longer! We were greeted by Jerra who was the NICEST! she had even just baked fresh cookies which we enjoyed. The room was MASSIVE absolutely huge. Bed, linens and pillows very luxurious, private balcony and faced a nice lawn in the back and not the street. All the other hotels on this street face the street and can be loud. Wish we had time to enjoy the hot tun. Breakfast was a treat, they have an egg bar where they make them fresh how you like, waffles, biscuits and gravy. So tasty. If we are ever out here again we’ll be back!

We stayed here for two nights and were very pleased. We were checked in by a very friendly & welcoming lady. I believe her name was Jerra. Our room was huge and very clean. The beds were comfy and our view was of a nice lawn area with huge tree. The only negative about our room was that the floor was very loud when you walked. Like old squeaky wood floors. I wonder if it’s the same upstairs? Fortunately, there didn’t appear to be anyone above us.
There is always fresh coffee, fruit, and warm cookies available in the lobby. The breakfast is very good and you get farm fresh eggs cooked to order. I personally loved the fruit turnovers.
This is not a chain hotel. I know that it used to be a Best Western, but it is now privately owned. They offer a nice clean & comfortable room at fair prices. Nothing fancy, but definitely welcoming and homey. We were told that they get their eggs and fruit from local farmers. I love that they are supporting their community. All staff members that we came in contact with were friendly, but Jerra was fantastic.
We will definitely return and would not hesitate in recommending.

It was a wonderful experience to stay at the red arrow inn. The facility is run by genuine people, who even brought hot cookies to our room! The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is awesome. If you want to stay at a place that is family owned, run by awesome people, definitely choose to stay at the red arrow inn!

Really liked this place. The rooms were a good price and HUGE! They also have nice toiletries from Sister Sky.
The breakfast was really nice. Egg chef on site, plus a whole other bunch of stuff like biscuits and sausage gravy, muffins, bagels, coffee, tea, juice (several kinds).
Definitely will stay here again when I am back in Montrose.

Staff here were kind and nice breakfast options but room left much to be desired. Peeling wallpaper, dirty walls, found toys on the floor under the bed (I didn’t have kids with me… So when was it last cleaned well?!). As a solo traveler, would have felt better if windows had better locking mechanism and/​or bars to prevent from opening all the way. I was glad I checked before I went to bed but all my windows were unlocked!

Very good — reviewing it as much so I’ll remember that this was a good place to stay in Montrose as for any other reason… We end up passing through Montrose about once a year on our way to camping or climbing in the San Juans, and this was a good option. They’re definitely trying, which makes marks for me, and the staff were super friendly. We ended up extending our stay an extra day. Price was decent, and the pool was great to jump in after a hot day of hiking. Our room looked out back, and it’s a beautiful green open space with an enormous weeping willow and small patio. A good hot shower in the morning, and the bathroom was fine. A good place to stay at a reasonable price.

Great choice for early bird flight out of Montrose. Free shuttle to airport at 5 am. Really reasonable. Very nice staff. Pretty grounds. Great full breakfast with waffles, biscuits and gravy and eggs made to order!

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice this was! Yes, it is old, but very clean. The shower had been nicely updated, which is one of the two most important features of a hotel. And the beds were incredibly comfortable, which is the most important! The sheets were new and clean. They had a fridge which worked well for keeping snacks cold and refreezing our ice packs. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, they even made eggs to order. Staff was friendly and helpful. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re passing through Montrose.

From check-​in to check-​out, every person that worked there was so incredibly friendly and accommodating! They were kind and welcoming, and served with a smile. The room was very comfortable, well equipped, and clean clean clean! The ice Machine was close to our room, the hallway had a nice breeze blowing through, the balcony looked out upon a green meadow with a huge Weeping Willow tree. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. The front desk Ladies had full knowledge of the good restaurants in town. The only issue was with the front door to our room. It looked as if it swelled and was a bit difficult to close, and was loud. I most definitely would return. Great people, great food, great beds, and clean!

This is a great place to stay, the only non–
chain place I stay at. The rooms are oversized, have patios with chairs, and the ones in the back overlook a parklike green space. Staff is warm, friendly, accommodating. Rates are very reasonable & breakfast include eggs to order no hormones.

All I require is a clean bed without bedspreads and a clean room that doesn’t look like I’m the thousandth person to stay there.
Front desk staff were personable and more then helpful.
The room was clean with updated bed linens.
I’m looking forward to the «fresh egg and biscuit» breakfast in the morning as part of our room price. I don’t have a reason not to give 5 stars!

My husband and I stayed here a week ago. We love the town of Montrose, and we plan to come back because I have family in town. I will never stay at this dump again. We belong to the Best Western rewards and we’ve always been pleased with the hotels, but this hotel is the worst.
The phone did not work at all (no dial tone), the toilet was acting weird and one of the maids stole my husband’s medicine. We didn’t find this out until we got home and unpacked.
What disappointed me most was when we told the front desk that the phone didn’t work (we never got our wake up call) and the employee wasn’t that expressive or remorse… there was hardly any emotion. Sad.
I plan to come back, but will stay in a different hotel. There is no excuse for the maids to steal… hope you enjoy the medicine, you little dog!

This place is HIT! or MISS! and this trip, they missed. We stayed here in March and were greeted warmly on the phone while making reservations. The stay continued to be pleasant with the staff always willing to help out, take care of anything we needed and ALWAYS had plenty of fresh coffee in the lobby as well as the breakfast area.
Fast forward two months and wow, things are different. No coffee in the lobby 2 days in a row. Out of vanilla coffee at breakfast, asked if they had any more ready… wouldn’t ya think they’d be perking ahead during the breakfast hours? Curt answers and just not the same warm welcome feeling.
Beds are OK, rooms are clean enough… just was missing something. I’d pick this one over MANY of the other hotels in the area, but would opt for Quality Inn first.

While the husband was fishing, I made reservations at the Red Arrow so I would not have to worry about Montrose booking up during the last week of vacation. It was an AAA suggestion, our last night, and I just wanted a nice clean room and if possible «with a view».
We checked in and told we were in the building behind the front desk. The husband and I pulled around to our building and walked up to our room. As the door opened, I let out a WOW!!! The room was huge, we had a balcony overlooking a beautifully landscaped lawn, and the amenities were upscale.
Breakfast was a bit above all the other continental breakfasts we had as they offered fresh fruit and fresh baked goods. The young couple running the place were the children of the owners so you could tell there was pride in this family business. We even had a note asking us if we would like to stay another night, if so the price dropped $ 30,00!!!
Maybe after the other places we stayed at this just seemed so much better but I will always stay at the Red Arrow when in Montrose.
