This is a tough one. I have only had lunch take out from here and only tried 2 of the dishes but liked them so have actually had it quite a few times. I read through some of the other reviews to get an idea of their other dishes and it has not really tempted me to try anything else. So, order the Hibachi Chicken or Steak if you go here! The steak portions are a bit on the small side, the chicken portion is much better. I like it with the mushrooms and carrots… yes they are overcooked but combined with the shrimp sauce they have an addicting flavor… kind of like a Big Mac. It may not be the most complicated of flavors or the highest quality ingredients, but its got a certain taste that gets in your brain! Which brings us to the shrimp sauce… I love the stuff. A little goes a long way, but I like it multiples better than the other hibachi place further east on 150. I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars. I like what I like here, simple straight forward Hibachi but a few things keep the rating a 3 vs a 4. I’ve had multiple mistakes with orders, which they always fix, but ends up causing excessive wait time, the portion size of the steak is a bit small and I have the feeling I wouldn’t rate some of the other offerings that highly… so we are in solid 3 star territory… a «good» rating.

Food was good for the price. Service was slow and received my soup, salad and food at the same time. The onion soup was too oily and the salad had too much ginger dressing. Ginger can overpower with too much. The chicken and steak was very good. We would come back!

Went to this restaurant last night for first time food was good but wasn’t able to finish eating because the older woman running register ran by and literally grabbed my husbands plate out from under him BEFORE he was finished eating! She never asked and she wasn’t our waiter which he was very good and polite but she ran by out of no where and just took his plate before he was finished eating!!! I always thought they asked you first but not at this establishment!!! Then when we inquired about this all she said was I’m sorry thought he was finished and still had to pay full price!!! We will never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone but if you do go PLEASE guard your food or they will take it before you are finished guess it was to close to closing time!!!

I had all but given up on Shikis. 3 times in a row of dining there were not very good experiences. And like always, we swore we’d never go back but now I’m glad we did. This past Friday we decided to give it another try and it was a complete turn around. The normally dry chicken was very juicy and had just the right amount of flavor. Usually, the food is so bad that I have to add the entire cup of shrimp sauce to my plate just to be able to eat it but this time I only used it as a dipping sauce. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp with fried rice, broccoli and much rooms. Everything was fantastic. Whatever they changed, I hope it stays this way. We will definitely be back again and I hope we love it just as much as we did this time. There was only one thing that bothered me about this trip and that was the service. Our waitress was very nice, however, she brought our soup, salad and main dish at the same time. That is a big pet peeve of mine. I want to be able to enjoy each dish separately, not have to hurry up and chow down before any of it gets cold.

I really don’t know how this place has a decent rating. Restaurants like this exist because companies assume most people are too stupid to know what good food is. The service was good. The kitchen staff unprofessional. The hostess was delightful and unfortunately the only professional in the restaurant. The hibachi steak is 5⁄10 stars. The rice bland. If you think it’s fantastic you should travel more. The fried dumplings are an absolute disgrace to Japanese food. The sweet tea is so bad someone should tell the owner his restaurant is in North Carolina. For an amazing descent into mediocrity, Visit this place.

Yes, it’s white people food, with a thin layer of Japanese on top. It’s what they serve. I’m pretty sure that white people Japanese food is just about its own food group by now. This is a cheaper, faster version of the hibachi or teriyaki dishes you would get at the trepan tables at Nakato’s or Kabuto’s. For what it is, it is excellent. The waitstaff is friendly, and while the interior isn’t exactly oriental in nature, it is clean and well lit. I love this place.

First – NO it is not authentic, real Japanese food. If you are looking for that, you wouldn’t obviously go here. People who grew up in Mooresville, like myself, love this place. It is somewhere that everyone knows about and has been to many times before. The food is delicious, comes fast, and is cheap. You cannot beat that!

It wasn’t inedible BUT this is nothing like the Japanese food I know from living in Hawaii and consuming pounds of Japanese in Little Tokyo(L.A.). My Japanese friends would call this ‘white person food’. Real Japanese rice is typically sticky, it does NOT include frozen peas and carrots and some random ‘shrimp sauce’ that doesn’t have and isn’t served with shrimp. The hibachi was just okay, it was there. The locals who were born/raised in the area love this place but if I want Japanese and this is my only option, I’ll have pizza.

Definitely a different kind of «Japanese» restaurant. The food was actually tasty. I had the hibachi beef with mushrooms and the meat was tender, cooked perfectly. Huge portions! The rice was more like colored rice than fried rice. And they served it with a mayonnaise sauce that they called shrimp sauce. I didn’t really know what to do with it. It was cheap, hot, and cooked to order. It would have been nice if there was more variety to the menu. The restaurant itself was very clean. I had to laugh a little at the Chinese décor, Vietnamese music and«Japanese» food. Vietnamese owner, you should serve Vietnamese food. I think the people in the area would love it, some imperial rolls and 5 spice chicken or pork chops! All in all, my friend/date likes it and i thought it was okay. Would i go back, probably. Have i had better yes, but for the area it was fine and satisfied our pre wedding appetites.
