Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada Ranch

My husband and I had our wedding here in October 2015. We fell in love with it the second we toured it and booked it immediately and thank goodness we did! Our wedding here was absolutely perfect! Michele was so incredible to work with and made us feel like our wedding was the only one of the year and remembered every detail we discussed! The view is always beautiful here and it shows in our pictures. I was concerned at first that we would hear the noise from the Underwood Farm it’s connected to but the sound doesn’t carry over at all! Joe, the caterer, was great as well! I’ve gotten a crazy amount of compliments on the venue and food since our wedding and am SO happy we chose this beautiful place!

As soon as we saw Walnut Grove, we knew we found our wedding venue. The quiet calm and natural beauty of the grove and its surrounding hills immediately set us at ease, and we knew ours would be unlike any wedding we had previously attended. We were, in a word, enchanted. We also knew, however, that Walnut Grove would be a hard sell with my now-husband’s (then-fiancé’s) Persian family. .. because, well, it would be unlike any wedding they had previously attended.
Setting aside the non-​negotiable foundational dispute (that is, our flat refusal to be married in anything resembling a gilded hall), Walnut Grove presented some additional obstacles: (1) the exclusive caterer, (2) the noise restrictions/10:00 p.m. «curfew,» and (3) the drive through the parking lot of Underwood Family Farms to enter the venue. Notwithstanding extensive debate on the first issue, this turned out not to be an obstacle at all; rather, it was the best decision we didn’t have to make. (Indeed, I was thrilled that Walnut Grove saved me the headache of researching and contacting various caterers, and instead simply required that we use the best.) As to the second issue, we insisted that we’d rather have the «wedding we wanted» end at 10:00 p.m. than the «wedding we didn’t» torture us into the wee hours. .. and we agreed to attend an after party. Finally, while the initial property entrance is admittedly interesting, the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking eucalyptus will wipe your memory of it in no time.
In an effort to bring them onboard, we brought my husband’s parents to the Walnut Grove Bridal Showcase. While my father-​in-​law was a bit skeptical at the start, the venue’s charm (not to mention Command Performance Catering’s BBQ short ribs) won him over in the end. Recognizing that we would forever remain at an impasse with my mother-​in-​law, I gave up trying to sell Walnut Grove and just booked it. .. and I have no regrets.
We were married at Walnut Grove in August 2015, and although I am admittedly (more than a little) biased, I maintain that ours was one of the most fun, beautiful, and delicious weddings I have ever attended. All of our guests – young and old, local and out-​of-​town, Persian and American – had a blast, and I couldn’t even count the comments about the stunning location and incredible food. The lawn games were a hit with the kids, the cigar bar got a ton of action, and the s’mores bar was popular with all ages.
I can’t say enough incredible things about this wonderful venue and the amazing people that run it. Walnut Grove’s site coordinator, Michele Spring, and office assistant, Jen Barr, were endlessly accommodating, responsive, and professional. They kept us informed of their various deadlines and requirements, and they answered our many questions with patience and sincerity. These ladies are extremely hardworking, and it is clear that they really care about Walnut Grove and the couples who marry there; they are truly gems. The property owner and his son are kind and polite, and it is clear that they take great pride in Walnut Grove. (Thank you so much for giving us the best wedding we could ever have dreamed of!)
As for the venue itself, I could rave all day about how, in my opinion, Walnut Grove is the most beautiful wedding venue in all of Southern California, but instead I would just direct you to view their photos and visit their site (preferably for their Bridal Showcase). This place is truly something special.

My daughter’s wedding was held at the Walnut Grove in July 2015. Walnut Grove is an amazing, beautiful venue! It is set beside and behind Underwood Farms, with a barrier of large trees between the Farms and the wedding venue. The ceremony area is set atop lush grass amid walnut trees. The reception area has a backdrop of a lovely stone hearth/​patio/​deck (for lack of a better description), which has a fireplace in the center. The DJ is set up on one side of it, and the cake/​desserts on the other. This frames a dance floor and then surrounding the dance floor are the dinner tables, which are rectangular wood with wood chairs. We had many, many compliments on the venue.
There is an area that games can be set up, and also rented from the venue, for those who want an activity besides dancing.
Their contracted caterer; Command Performance Catering, provides amazing food with lots to choose from. Between the caterer and the venue, additional pieces of furniture, propane fire pits, cocktail tables (wooden barrels with wood tops) can be rented. The catering staff is professional and attentive.
A cute and cozy (and air conditioned) bride’s house is ready for the bride and her party to use, and an adjacent patio for the groom and his groomsmen is there for the same. The restrooms are very nice, too.
The venue has a natural beauty, so decorations can be kept to a minimum, or really fancy if that is your thing. We chose to keep the decorations rather simple.
In accordance with Ventura County law, you must end your event at 10:00 pm. The Grand Vista hotel in Simi Valley, which is six miles away, is a great place to stay and block rooms for guests. They offer a complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and Walnut Grove, depending upon how many rooms are booked. In addition, there is a sports bar on the hotel premises, so you can carry the celebrating over to the bar for guests who may be staying there (or live close by and have the means to get home safely :).
A shout-​out must be given to both Michele, the site coordinator, and Rick, the property owner. Michele is the point of contact initially and throughout your planning stages. She is professional, personable, responsive, and quick to answer the many questions and concerns that arise during the planning process. It is evident that Rick takes great pride in his property, and works hard to maintain the beauty and functionality of it. The day of the wedding he was on site early to assist in whatever needed to be done, and then quietly disappeared before the ceremony began.
The wedding turned out to be an amazing day!

I was the wedding coordinator for a wedding this last weekend at this venue. It was a wonderful experience and I do believe the bride had her dreamy fairy-​tale wedding! The owners of this venue were easy to work with and very helpful. The food was one of the best I’ve ever enjoyed at a wedding. Wonderful place, highly recommended!

I will start off by saying that my daughter picked out this place on her own and like a good dad, I just went along with it. I made a trip out there about a month before the wedding during the week and in the middle of the day. I will tell you «dad’s», I was honestly thinking «wow — really, this is the place my daughter had to get married at ?». Your drive into a dirt parking lot, past a fruit stand, back down another dirt road, you see the tree’s on the left and are thinking oh hell no, really…
Now move forward to the day of the wedding —– The staff, was there early setting things up (we had a Friday wedding) and I went over to drop off the alcohol we were able to supply (HUUUUGEEE Plus ++++) and the set up crew was great. They helped with the offloading, were extremely attentive and the place was starting to look up. Fast forward about 4 hours later and we arrive for our set up and final preps and Wow, this place is really starting to come into shape.
Now we get people arriving, and the ceremony starts and this place is AWESOME. I know have very little reservations about the choice and then the sun sets, it get’s a little dark and the ambiance of the lighting in the Tree’s takes affect and I am simply Amazed. This place is perfect and my daughters dreams came true. I could not have thought of a better place for the Wedding and reception.
Now for the daddy’s out there or those putting this thing together. From the very get go, I was very disgruntled. When I am looking over the contract and the particulars and I see that we are required to use «their choice» in Catering company, I almost put the brakes on and said heck no. In my mind, this is ridiculous, they are a venue only and driving me to only one choice in catering option was obviously collusion and seemed shady to me. Hmmm, this «dude» gave them 5 Stars, sounds like he is upset, what gives. Well what gives is the FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL. We had a relatively basic chicken dish with the Carving station for Tri Tip, the Jalepeno Mac & Cheese and Mashed potatoes… it was expensive in my mind when we placed the order, but from the first few bites I absolutely forgot how much I had paid per person for this meal. It was honestly one of the best Wedding «Catered» meals I have ever had and that includes some meals at some very posh places from Newport Beach to other locations in California. I enjoyed every bite and can not tell you how many of my guests came up to me during the wedding and said that was the best meal they have had at any wedding. Many went back for seconds and how often does that happen at what is normally a very blah meal that you just pick at and then head to the bar.
All in all, this is a great location to host your special day. Forget about the farm fields all around you, when you are there at the venue with your event, it is truly amazing. Another facet is oh my god wait until you see the pictures if you have a good photographer. The settings and shots that you are able to get will make you smile for years to come.
As I sit here on Monday morning after my daughters wedding, when a week ago I was sure that I would be here today with buyers remorse thinking why the H#$$ did I spend all that money there, and the only thoughts I have now are what an amazing location and thank god my daughter had far more foresight to see the beauty in this place than a grumpy old man. I have no regrets and advise others I firmly believe you will feel the same way in the days following your event !!!

Absolutely amazing! I coordinated a wedding here this past weekend and everything was perfect! The venue is beyond gorgeous and the staff was on point! They take pride in their venue and it shows. They make sure everything is clean and ready to set-​up and decorate. Above and beyond. I will absolutely be recommending Walnut Grove to future brides!

We worked with Michelle to set up the wedding. She is nice and very professional. The morning before our wedding, we were at the venue to do the processional rehearsal and met Rick, the owner of the venue and farm. He is soft spoken and a very nice and helpful man. They were there for questions and last minute details. The day of the wedding, they were nowhere in sight to let us just do our thing. They had just the right amount of «hand holding» and letting us do our thing :) We had email correspondence with Michelle for all the months leading up to the wedding. We didn’t have a DJ, but we did have a short session of Japanese drumming. We asked for permission and it was allowed. That was great. We asked about where we could hang decorations from and Michelle told us the details. Even when issues arose, they are very nice and reasonable in their solutions. For example, we had gotten the s’mores station, but there was a misunderstanding and we did not bring (nor asked the caterers to bring) the chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers. Since we didn’t get to do it, they did not charge us. It does get cold at night there, like most places in SoCal, so check the weather and get those heaters for the night time unless you know it will be 70 degrees or higher at night. The only part that was a bit problematic was the small bridal house. That’s the only room w AC which meant that the cake had to be in there so it wouldn’t melt and all the large centerpieces also had to be there until right before the reception so they wouldn’t wilt. It got super crowded in there and there were only 2 brides in there. We did it in April when there are no leaves on the walnut trees, but we had seen pictures of what a wedding with bare trees looked like and it looked great, because the other trees and the grass are still all green! Also, we asked our guests not to wear heels because of all the grass. I suggest doing the same! I would have our wedding here all over again. We would highly recommend this place. Perhaps the most beautiful wedding venue in Southern California? Rustic, bucolic, rural, secluded.. .ambling amongst the barren walnut trees (in the winter/​spring) and robust offerings in the summer/​autumn, this lovely spot nestled in back of Underwood Farms is truly a wonderful experience should you be fortunate enough to have a wedding, or attend a wedding there. Special points to Michelle, the on-​site wedding planner, for being attentive, helpful, friendly & authoritative without being pushy. What an awesome venue. My only complaint is that they have a mandatory 10pm shutdown and when you’re partying at somewhere like this, you never want the celebration to end.

This is an amazing and gorgeous venue for an outdoor wedding! We had our wedding here in September 2014 and we could not have asked for a better and more beautiful venue. The venue is huge but still feels so intimate and cozy. We worried most about the weather and that it would be too hot during the ceremony or too cold at night during the reception but the weather was absolutely perfect! The bride’s room is so intimate and the bathrooms are nice for an outdoor venue. The fireplace was turned on during the night and the market lights hanging over the reception area was so beautiful. Walnut Grove was perfect for my rustic, outdoor wedding!

Nice location and amazing food!
I attended a wedding 8÷8÷2014 and the chef there prepared an amazing layout of salads, chicken, beef, and selection of breads — absolutely delicious — and he didn’t scrimp on the nuts in the salads. It was a beautiful venue to get some great memory pictures, great for an outdoor wedding, and the staff was very accommodating.

I got married at Walnut Grove — Tierra Rejada Ranch in July 2013 and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, more magical and more perfect wedding. The gorgeous, ethereal woodland setting, the romantic lighting, the gentle breeze, the breathtaking views. Our friends and family also agreed — it was like a scene from a classic film.
The catering (company provided everything we needed as then some. The staff was spectacular and kudos to Joe for being so cool with our constant menu changes and requests). Our guests told us our food was the most delicious wedding food they ever had (we all agree with the existing consensus — the jalapeño mac and cheese was out of this world.
Michele, our wedding coordinator, was a lifesaver and the best we could hope and ask for. She helped us every step of the way, answered all our questions and provided great advice and suggestions when it came to picking vendors. We were in constant communication during our eight months of planning and we received reminders about important deadlines as our wedding date drew nearer. Michele saved us so much time and stress!
We had a tight budget and we stuck to it. Our wedding was perfect. I would not change a single thing about our wedding and cannot recommend Walnut Grove enough.

As a wedding photographer, I’ve shot a lot of weddings and I would have to say that shooting weddings at the Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada Ranch, is one of my favorite venues by far.
The scenery is so pretty, laid back, and perfect for weddings. The light (especially during the summer sunset hour) is beautiful! I always can easily take beautiful portraits of the couple and their wedding party. It’s spacious yet cozy and intimate. Food is great. Atmosphere is amazing! And service is wonderful!
Definitely check out this venue and consider it. You won’t be disappointed!

Very cute place for an outdoors wedding especially if it’s a rustic themed wedding. They have big barrels serving as tables and you can hang lights from the trees. There is a large stone area for tables and dancing.

Absolutely beautiful! My brother had his wedding here this past last weekend and the setup was great! There is a separate parking area for your guest, a little cottage area for the bridal party, corn field to your right and 100 walnut trees to your left. The view of the sunset is gorgeous! I highly recommend checking out this venue for your major events!

I attended a friend’s wedding here at the end of July.
It was absolutely beautiful.
I had taken my daughter with her school to the Underwood Farms right over the fence from Walnut Grove and was confused how a wedding site could work on a farm with piles of hay bales everywhere and goats climbing everything. But Walnut Grove was nestled and hidden through trees… it really is a grove!
I am not sure if it’s actually Tierra Rejada that makes the food (I think my friend told me they required her to use a specific caterer) but we LOVED the food. It was perfect for an outdoor ranch style reception: grilled BBQ chicken, spicy mac & cheese, salad, tri-tip…my husband and I loved their food.
When the sun sets, all the lights glow and it is so intimate and romantic. I think it’s a great site for a wedding although you do have to bring a lot of things in. The only downside to being small and cozy and intimate is that I know my friend wanted to invite more people but just couldn’t.
My friend’s wedding planner brought in so many nice touches with rustic flowers in mason jars, lemonade stand, etc. The bride and the planner with her team did an amazing job. I would highly recommend someone looking for a venue to get married to check out other photos of other weddings held here.

My husband and I chose Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada Ranch for our wedding venue. Early in 2009, I visited the site with one of my best friends. Upon arrival, we met their main contact, Michele Spring, who showed us around the property and strongly encouraged me to return in April for their annual showcase when the renovations would be finished. I did return for the showcase with my husband and parents, and we fell in love with the venue. They really upgraded the property, and at the time, they were offering a promotional deal we couldn’t turn down. I had been researching venues for months because my husband and I had been together for 8 years when he proposed, and I knew we would be getting married. I couldn’t find a venue in the Los Angeles or Ventura counties that had pricing as reasonable as Walnut Grove at the time they were offering this promotional deal. Also, the renovations looked so beautiful that we were sold. During that showcase, we booked Walnut Grove, our day-​of wedding coordinator (Michele Spring), and our photographer (Chelsea Elizabeth Photography).
We had our wedding at Walnut Grove on 9÷5÷10. We chose to get ready and take a lot of photos at the Westlake Village Inn before heading to Walnut Grove for the ceremony at 4:30pm. Despite it being Labor Day weekend, the weather was perfect… not too hot and not too cold. Our day-​of coordinator, Michele Spring, made sure everything was taken care of. Walnut Grove has a small little house on its property that is air conditioned, so I stayed inside of it until it was my turn to walk down the aisle with my parents. I didn’t want any arriving guests to see me before the ceremony started, and it really helped me stay calm. I recommend that all brides do this before the ceremony! The ceremony started a bit late, and it lasted longer than planned, but it flew by. The sun was setting behind the mountains and glistening light through the eucalyptus trees. One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was when our Rabbi had us stop and look out in the distance at the amazing site of the sun setting behind those mountains. Again, it was absolutely perfect.
When the ceremony ended, my husband and I immediately went inside of that little house on the property to be alone for a few minutes before taking more photos with our bridal party and extended families. Michele Spring made sure to serve us drinks, and the Command Performance Catering staff approached us with a tray of appetizers. One of my bridesmaids commented that she was so impressed with the service at our wedding, and I couldn’t agree more. The reception was fun and memorable. Although we only got to sample some of the food because we chose to take more bride and groom photos, it was delicious. CPC actually packed us a doggy bag to take back with us to the Westlake Village Inn where we stayed that night so we could enjoy the food later (and we did… it still tasted delicious)! I loved the ambiance of having an outdoor reception because when it got dark, the dance floor lit up with the twinkle lights above. It was breathtaking. Jeff and Jennifer Kantor from Gold Dust Entertainment made sure to keep the dance floor packed. Another bonus of this venue is that we were able to bring our own alcohol for the event. We saved thousands of dollars by purchasing our alcohol at Bevmo and returning any unopened bottles to the location in Thousand Oaks. Last but not least, one of the highlights of our day was the most fabulous fairytale ending: a sparkler grand exit!
My husband and I highly recommend Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada Ranch as a wedding venue. Our guests raved about the uniqueness and natural beauty of the site. Most said they had never been to a wedding like ours. We got married a couple of weeks shy of our 10 year anniversary, and let me tell you, it was certainly worth the wait!

5 stars for Walnut Grove! I have worked at A LOT of wedding venues but the staff here is unbelievable. The bride wanted her flowers early for photos, but because of the heat, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the centerpieces on the tables yet. Not to worry! The staff willingly offered to set up the arrangements exactly as the bride wanted them.
The venue is gorgeous. The staff is great. The pictures turned out fabulous. I can’t wait for my next wedding at this location.
