Jan Peterson Child Development Center is a place to grow, to play and to learn.

Jan Peterson Child Development Center was founded as part of an integrated long-​term healthcare campus located directly adjacent to the Riverside County Regional Medical Center. This campus includes the Child Development Center as well as an Assisted Living Facility and a soon to be constructed Skilled Nursing Facility. These components provide an inter-​generational health care and child development experience like no other in that each child and each senior get to play the role of surrogate grandparent and grandchild thereby enhancing each other’s health, well being and personal development.

Manager

Patricia has had the opportunity to be part of the start-​up phase of several other state of the art child development centers throughout the country as well as the Jan Peterson Child Development Center. She has helped raise $ 20,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation in Oro Valley, AZ and at the Jan Peterson Child Development Center helped raise over $ 10,000 for the St. Jude Research Children’s Hospital. Patricia is married and the proud mother of two grown sons. Her youngest has served two tours in Afghanistan. She and her family lived several years in West Berlin during the time that the «wall» was up. Living behind the «Iron Curtain» was a learning and memorable experience. Patricia has had the opportunity to live and visit many parts of the United States.

My son have been attending this school for about 9 months now, he is 3. It was his first time in daycare, so I was very nervous seeing that he never has been away from his mom and dad. Best choice I feel I have ever made, after meeting his teachers the first day, I had some concerns but I saw great improvement with my son. I personally would like to give a major shout out to Teacher Ms Brenda, And teacher Ms Kim. I love the fact they are involved with helping to better and teach our son. I see so much that he have learned. Ms Kim is always reading and I love her story times when I drop my son off, I wish I could stay because she makes the story sounds so good, Such a nice teacher, Ms Brenda is very involved, informative, and I love her teaching ability and training she has showed with the children in her class. If i could I would make her teacher of the year again. But both are great. I can go on and on. But I would like to thank Jan Peterson child Dev Center for hiring great teachers as these two. And thanks for helping to potty train my son, Thank you Omari Smith.

Recently had to begin taking our 6 month old son to daycare so I could return to work, I was very apprehensive and cried like a baby the first day I left him. As I cried I was comforted, hugged, and reassured by every teacher in the class. That made me feel better, but of course still was more concerned that my son was going to be happy. I am still breast feeding so my husband and I loved the fact that I would still be able to come in and breast feed (I work relatively close). Every time I’ve entered the classroom to feed him, pick him up for the day, or visit my son looks happy and is either playing with teachers, being read to, or happily babbling with the other babies. Seeing this warms my heart every time and makes this mama happy to see my boy happy. Seeing this also makes my husband and I feel we made the right choice to bring our boy here.
The teachers are also very respectful of my wishes– how to feed, when to feed, what to feed, what my son likes/​dislikes. I feel that next to me and my husband they are providing the best care possible for our boy.
One of my favorite aspects of JPCDC is the organization and meticulous processes in place that allow for everyone to be on the same page and for the best care to be provided to your child. You can clearly see times marked for feedings and changes, the daily written report (you get a copy everyday) of how your child was, what they did, what they need, and the locked perimeter (requiring codes to access) assures your child is safe.
I have never noted any areas to be dirty or children to be dirty; as a matter of fact when I went in the other day staff was cleaning EVERYTHING– the classroom looked great!
Prices are also very competitive, like the fact they want payment every two weeks vs. once per month, makes this a little easier for myself to manage.
Jan Peterson Child Development Center has turned this guilt ridden mama into one content mama.
I look forward to our boy growing up with Jan Peterson Child Development center and would recommend to friends and family.

Our 4yr old daughter has been attending Jan Peterson since the age of 1. Our 17month twins have also now been there for about 1yr. The hours are great for working parents (6am — 6:30pm) and they’re very flexible in working with our odd schedules. They keep the curriculum fresh with frequent visits and events (dance, soccer, fire department, Festivals, etc…). They have surveillance cameras and video to review the days events. Overall I trust the staff with my little ones while I’m out to work.

I love Jan Peterson Child Development Center. My daughter has been attending the school for 10 months now. She was so nervous to go to school but from the first day everyone was so great with her. The staff is all amazing. I can’t say enough good things about this school and the teachers. I feel like they are part of my extended family. Every time I walk in I am always greeted with a smile from the administrators or Mrs. V. My daughters teacher are such a blessing she is in the Dolphin classroom. The teachers are so patient and good with her. She has gone from not writing anything to learning to write numbers, letters, her name, and other small words. Ms. Brittney is such a great teacher. All of the teachers are amazing I am always informed of my daughters progress as well as any set backs or areas she needs to work on. I highly recommend this program to my friends and family. Did I mention all the fun activities they do with the children from grandparents day, to growing vegetables in the garden, having fundraisers, and having a soccer program right at the school. This place has made such a difference in my child and I am very pleased.

My daughter has been attending Jan Peterson since August and really likes it. She was in a home daycare to start with and I felt that she was not getting the quality attention to advance her development. She now comes home with age appropriate activities that engage her throughout the day. She has expanded her academics in the alphabet and counting and I am very pleased to see her exceling.
She loves her teacher and will tell me she misses her on the weekends when she is home. I am very pleased with how they have handled situations with other children and also with mine.
I would recommend Jan Peterson to any other parent looking for child care/​preschool in the area.

I found Jan Peterson Child Development Center through a few of my coworkers who had recommended the program to me. My son has been there for 2 ½ years (he started at 18 months) and I am so thankful that they did. It is an amazing environment that has allowed him to learn and grow in a way that I am unable to provide at home. My son is shy and dislikes unfamiliarity, JPCDC has provided an opportunity for him to explore new surroundings and participate in activities that he normally would have been closed off to. I can see the positive impact on him when interacts in new environments and people. All of the staff are so loving and warm towards my son and the other children. I truly feel comfortable and at ease when I drop him off to school that all of his needs (physical, emotional and educational) will be met.

There were several reasons why my husband and I picked JPCDC to help us care for our little girl. One was and still is the convenience of the location. It is near to both our home and work place. Another was it came highly recommended by several of my coworkers whose child/​children were currently enrolled into their program. Another was when I came for a tour, Miss Pam appears to be very approachable, friendly and engaging. She showed me around, answered my questions and introduced me to the staff. I was able to visit the classroom where my daughter will be assigned at that time and met Miss Kim and Miss Leah, both of whom were very friendly. My daughter started from a shy, reserved kid to an open, friendly and sociable kid. She has now moved on to Miss Brenda’s class and has been improving ever since. My daughter has showed growth and development and is still learning through Miss Brenda’s tutelage. She knows how to write her full name, knows letters and numbers, addition and subtraction, word recognition and starts to read. Another reason would be that JPCDC does not only cater to classroom learning but also have activities that engages the child’s development either personal growth or social awareness. They have Mother’s and Father’s Day activities as well as Grandparent’s Day, too. They have Teddy Bear picnics, Spring show, Harvest/​Fall and Christmas program. They have visits to the Assisted Living right next door, outdoor walks, gardening and a Trike-​a-​thon to help raise funds for St. Jude Hospital but as well as learning safety rules. I have volunteered to most of these activities and have seen first hand how these activities affect the children. I enjoyed seeing the smiles, hearing their laughter and the joy in their faces which makes volunteering an awesome experience. The most important reason why we enrolled in JPCDC is because of their Nut Free Policy. My daughter has nut allergies and it is a great relief to bring her to a learning facility that caters to her health issues. I know she will be safe and that is a great comfort to us. Lastly, I would like to say that even though we entrust our kids to JPCDC to learn and to grow, it still is a partnership. We, as parents need to be engage to supplement and continue this growth and development at home. We also need to be proactive to help develop change by giving positive and constructive comments. Overall, my husband and I are happy and satisfied with JPCDC, s services. We will recommend it to our family and friends.

My 11 month old has been enrolled at Jan Peterson for a few weeks now. I am very pleased! My son has gone from crying and holding my leg when I drop him off to clapping and waving goodbye when I leave him. When I see some of the older kids coming to Jan Peterson in the morning, they are running into the doors excited to get into the classroom. The environment is clean, renovated, and inviting. They provide the kids with hot meals and have a lot of programing. My son has already participated in grandparents day and is scheduled to have a dental exam while at Jan Peterson.
I’ve checked out all of the alternative child care centers in the area, and for me and my family Jan Peterson was the best choice. Pricing is competitive, the center is extremely organized, and I would recommend Jan Peterson to any of my friends and family.

I do not actually send my child here but I did go for a visit yesterday after reading the reviews on here. The lady who let me in was very pleasant and helpful with answering questions… however the first thing I saw before even walking into the place was a young girl, maybe 3 yrs old, with a face full of crusty snot… clearly she had a runny nose and was NOT sent home, clearly her face was NOT cleaned by ANYONE there and she was picked up by her parent looking like that! I would be pissed if that was my child, especially for the price tag associated with sending your child here! Second thing I noticed doing the walk thru for the preschool classrooms was toys that have clearly not been sanitized or cleaned for a very long time! They do tidy up & have cool crafts and things they do, but the lack of cleanliness of the toys that these young children interact with was disturbing. No wonder kids get sick here, like one of the other reviews stated… under the «Not Recommended» section. Thirdly, when I went to see the outside play area all the aids were sitting together off to the side where you first exit the door. They were not playing with the children or engaging them, just chatting amongst themselves. They did all say hello and seemed polite. One child started to cry and one of the aids or teachers, not sure what they were, went to check on the little boy, but then another was crying and the other three aids didn’t even bother to go see what the problem was. Instead, the women who was giving me a tour had to go check it out. I’m sorry, but what is the job of those aids if not to watch these children??? Finally one aid started to play with bubbles and the kids were very excited about that, just couldn’t help but wonder if that was for a guests benefit. Could just be me being overly aware at this point. Finally I sat down on one of their WOOD picnic tables to dust off my sons feet and got the BIGGEST splinter in my hand!!! What preschool has untreated WOOD tables where little people and anyone can get gouged with a giant splinter??? This place does! SMDH!
Needless to say, despite how friendly the lady was showing me around, I will NOT be bringing my child to this place!

Jan Peterson has been part of our family for almost 10 years. They have helped us raise 3 children who are very intelligent, compassionate, caring, respectful and responsible. They have always gone the extra mile to support our children in times of difficulty such as losing a loved one. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone. They have always provided us with piece of mind, knowing that our children are being cared for in a loving environment with high academic standards. My two older children love to go visit their former teachers when we go pick up our youngest.

I am not sure what any negative comments are about but I can say that our twins attended Jan Peterson when they were in diapers to kindergarten. At no time did we ever feel their care was less than stellar. We got to know all the staff on a first named basis including the director Miss Pat.
Our twins were so well taught by miss Pamela in kindergarten that they were able to test into first grade at public school. They are now GATE identified and still go back to the school to say hello to their old teachers.
I’m sure there are kids crying and misbehaving in videos. When you have a large group of kids together that’s what you get but these teachers dedicate their life and time to these kids and it reflects in the way these kids flourish and blossom. My twins are 9 now and still ask to go back to say hello to their teachers.
That shows a lot for what an impact this place made upon them and now they are skipped a grade and GATE students. Thanks to Jan Peterson for helping in their formative years to give them this foundation.
On top of the great staff and teachers this place is FUN! They have a fall festival with games and prizes and lots of activities for the kids. They have a cake contest and my husband and I won first place one year and free tuition. It’s a lot of fun for the kids to go visit the grandma’s and grandpa’s at the senior center… What a great concept. Don’t let one or two disgruntled reviews stop you from going to this amazing place. Our family gives Jan Peterson one hundred percent recommendation and my husband is a teacher. That speaks volumes!

Dolphins, Sea Otters, Sea monsters Is what this place should name their classrooms. My daughter has been taken out of this preschool for 4 months after continuous break downs. She is usually a well behaved child when after the first day she refused to go back. I thought it was a phase and she would grow out of it. But they have cameras to watch. Oh I watched., children hiding in corners crying, teachers hanging out talking about their weekend plans, conflicting lunch schedules. The children are sitting their fighting, crying, spitting, doing everything but learn any good behavior. Please don’t send your children to this school. These teachers only sit them down to trace but they don’t show them how to hold a pencil correctly or how to play together. I’m really disappointed in this school. I like the staff, very friendly but kept making me feel uncomfortable when I wanted to stay. They would tell me to go away. Now I know why. They felt uneasy being watched.
