Amdal Carpet Cleaning

I bought their service coupon on groupon. Called them once with no response, and when I got hold of Mike on the phone recently, he said he would call back. No callback and ignored my voice message ever since. I’d give zero star if possible.

We bought a Living Social deal to get the carpet cleaned in our condo in preparation for renting it. We finally got an appointment but on the day of, Mike called to say his father broke his foot so he can’t do the cleaning that day.
No problem. We’ll reschedule because we still had a week before the tenants move in. We called and left several messages to ask for a new appointment and never heard back.
We ended up talking to Living Social to get credit for the original purchase. Would NOT recommend.

I really wanted to like Amdal Carpet Cleaning. Like others, I purchased the LivingSocial carpet cleaning deal in the Fall of 2011. Mike was booked pretty solid with the deal, but we found a mutually agreeable time and made an appointment. The man who came to clean was not Mike, but he was very fast and effective. No complaints there.
Given the decent experience I had, I decided to go with Amdal when it came time to clean the grout on my tiled kitchen floor. I called Mike in April and asked him if he could do it on a Saturday. He said yes, but that his next Saturday opening wasn’t for a few weeks. That wasn’t a problem for me, so we set the date. As we were ending the call, he asked me to tell my friends about him because he really needs the business. I thought to myself that if he does a good job, I certainly will tell people. I enjoy supporting local businesses.
As the day arrived, I had received no confirmation call, which should have been my first warning. About a half hour after the appointment time, there was still no sign of Mike or his guys. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and called to confirm the appointment. (Maybe I got the time wrong?) He didn’t answer; I left a message. He returned my call within five minutes and told me that he had mistakenly scheduled us for the following Saturday. That day was not acceptable to us, so I asked him if he could do the Saturday after (which happened to be the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend). His response: «Uh, yeah, I guess I could do that for you.»
Today is Memorial Day. Did my grout get cleaned this weekend? If you guessed no, you’d be right. Amdal Carpet Cleaning was another no-​call, no-​show. I will not be calling to reschedule.
Mike, you asked me to tell my friends about you. Unfortunately for you, I don’t have anything good to say.

Completely unprofessional and dishonest. When I called to schedule the appointment Mike, «the owner», confirmed the appointment for 11:30. I subsequently tool off work to meet his «crew» at my home. Waited until noon and no show… called Mike and he said ouh, what was your address again. He then hung up on me (or his cell phone) or his cell phone last connection. I had to call his crew and give them my address. Neither one of them spoke english. Called Mike back and he said, blah blah blah… do you want a refund? Yeah Mike I want a refund!
In summary, completely unprofessional, dishonest and an amature not to mention do you realy want people in your home who can’t speak english?

Do not use! Unbelievably horrible experience. I purchased carpet cleaning through Living Social. First I couldn’t contact him and he wouldn’t return my calls. After 6 calls I finally got in touch and booked a cleaning. On the day of the cleaning he called and cancelled saying that he doesn’t service my area.

Wow. I am definitely going to check Unilocal before I get all excited about online deals. Similar story to those above. I made an appointment last week for today (Monday) between 9 and 10. No one showed. I called at 10:25 or so and was told by Mike that they were working on flood damage. I understood he would call me back and let me know where they were on the job. Perhaps I misunderstood and was supposed to call him, but either way if someone wanted my business I figured he would get in contact. I called later around 4 and he told me I should have called earlier, that he couldn’t come that day because «it would be dark.» I told him I had moved all my furniture (there are things on our bed!) and would rather have it tonight; was there no way? I was told I could have it done tomorrow. I am going elsewhere. I called another place and they told me they can come between 5 and 6. Sounds like they want my business. I will give them a great Unilocal review if they come and do the job.

Wow, the previous reviewers were correct. Unprofessional and unreliable. I called and left a message to call me back over the weekend with no callback. I called during the week and spoke with «Mike» who said he was busy and would call me back but… no callback. I called again and left a message and again… no callback.
I GIVE UP! I purchased a deal through LivingSocial and filed a complaint and a refund request. I don’t understand how a company can survive in this economy with such poor business practices.

Two words for them — unprofessional and unreliable. I called them and set up an appointment for them to come to my house on a Friday at 10 AM. They were supposed to clean up my sofa and my entry area marble. I told them I had a party on the following Sunday. They called at 9 AM on the day of the appointment and told me they will come later in the day. They never showed up and I called them twice/​thrice (left a message) but they never responded. I had the party at my house with a sofa and entry area that badly needed cleaning. On the day I set up the appointment, I asked Mike if there was any chance of him not showing up on Friday. He replied «None». I would never hire them nor would I advice anybody to do so. Well Mike, in this economy I would be very careful if I were you!

Do not use them. Never responds to phone call. Totally useless.

Mike did a fantastic job on our very dirty rugs. Also a very good job on our living room carpet and a fantastic price. Will definitely use again!

Off to a rough start — but things finished out smoothly.
I contacted them because of the deal listed on living social — and wanted clarification. I talked directly with Mike, who answered all my questions and we set up an appointment. The day of the appointment, they didn’t show up. I called Mike again — and he said that something happened with his cell phone and he lost all of his customer’s info, etc and was waiting for people to call him to reschedule. So I hesitantly made a second appointment.
I have never been able to get my stairs cleaned to my satisfaction — I had explained to Mike that if they can’t get it clean, then I don’t want them cleaned — I would replace the carpeting. I believe it was Jorge who was here that day — and he did an AMAZING job. The stairs looked awesome, the rest of the rooms were cleaned well as well.
Mike did call that night to make sure things went well — which I appreciated.
The only concern I have is if the only place he stores the information is on his cell phone, then the initial problem I experienced could happen again. Since he did such a great job though, I’m willing to use them the next time I need my carpets cleaned.

Just called back and told him I would like to book him since I have time again available (2 months later) but I needed to make certain he would turn up. He was pissed off, explaining that he doesn’t «blow people off» (isn’t not turning up blowing someone off?) then hung up on me. This again is the definition of «blowing me off».
I guess Mike Amdal doesn’t get that taking someone’s money then not performing a service is illegal. And guess what, he ‘blows people off’. Can I have my $ back please?

Mike Amdal and two of his crew did miracle work on my horribly worn down/​stained carpets!!! BEAUTIFUL JOB!!! We have a large 2 story home and I was breathless when I got home to see his results :-)

I bought the
deal and got a great value for a 700 sq ft carpet cleaning. I dealt directly with Mike, the owner over the phone and he sent his guys out as agreed. They did a quick, fantastic job! My carpet looks like new and Mike even called after to make sure I was satified.
Keep up the good work and I will continue to pass the word around!
