Nina Holmes, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and Certified Imago Therapist, specializes in relationship issues including marital and committed relationships as well as other family relationships including those between parents and children. Nina also provides therapy to individuals with a variety of disorders, including Depression, BiPolar Disorder, Anxiety, and PTSD. Nina has worked with youth and adults who have histories of abuse and trauma. Nina is Certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. Nina provided equine facilitated psychotherapy to clients who benefit from this type of therapy.

History

Established in 2008.

Communication That Works has focused on the use of dialogue to facilitate effective communication to work through conflict in relationships without going into non-​productive fighting, and on equine facilitated psychotherapy. Nina, a Certified Imago therapist, trained under Master Imago trainer, Dr. Bruce Crapuchettes, of the Pasadena Institute for Relationships. Nina acquired her therapy equine, a grandson of the great Secretariat, in 2007.

Nina brings her extensive life experience, education and training into the therapy room to help you meet your goals in therapy. Over the course of ten years she worked with Emphasis on Communication in Monterey to become a Certified Communication Facilitator and is now working with an Imago Instructor to become Certified in Imago Therapy. Nina, with her extensive history working with equines, also worked at DreamPower Horsemanship in Gilroy where she participated as a team member in providing equine facilitated psychotherapy to local youth. She presently provides equine facilitated psychotherapy at a ranch in Gilroy: her therapy horse is a grandson of Secretariat.
