We specialize in wholesale & retail lumber, building materials, builders hardware, mouldings, paint, lawn & garden, plumbing, electrical, tools, hardware, housewares, storage and in season patio furniture. We now stock Stihl outdoor power equipment, Craftsman hand & power tools, Benjamin Moore premium paints, Carhartt work cloths and automotive «chip» keys at big savings. We also offer screen repair service and propane tank exchange for your convenience. We have been locally owned and operated for over 30 years. Our staff is friendly and knowledgable and we offer old fashion service.

Established in 1980.

Johnson Lumber was founded by Kieth & Marilyn Johnson. Over the years we have expanded our lumber yard and Hardware store to better serve you. The business is currently run by Kieth & Marilyn’s son Mike. We are a proud sponsor of the Morgan Hill Independence Day Parade and take pride in being involved in our community.

I really love that Johnson has a wide variety of lumber selection. The only downside in my recent experience is the lumber side of customer service. I only get weekends off so unfortunately I only have weekends to purchase my lumber. When I can, I always try to do it during the week as those are the days I get great service, but for some reason weekends is like pulling teeth. I don’t live locally so I always call to make sure my lumber is available. I had a gentleman by the name of Patrick assist me. I don’t think he knows much about lumber and on the flip side he is pretty unprofessional with customer service. He was on the phone with me and actually told me he has to go because he has customers at the counter. «What am I». I am not one to write about other people, but this guy really stole the show. I hope my opinion is taken in a constructive way and doesn’t affect me going to Johnson lumber for my construction needs as I have for many years.

We went in for some bolts and came out with the best toilet bowl cleaner I have ever purchased. Thank you Lauren for the recommendation of EdFred Toilet Bowl Cleaner. Seriously the best cleaner I have ever used. Ace Hardware is a very nice, local hardware store that has THE BEST staff. You walk in and they greet you, help you and get you on your way. Unlike Home Depot where you cannot find help if your life depended on it. Please shop locally, you can use coupons and they are so nice. Worth a tiny bit of extra $$ I promise.

Excellent service!
My wife and I went to this store today trying to find wood for repairing our window exterior frame which has partially rotten. A nice gentleman assigned us a young technician, Hugo who did his best to help us. We’re impressed by his conscientiousness, patience, considerateness, and carefulness. We only spend $ 23.51 there, but we’re touched.

Would recommend you stay far away from this place. OK, so here’s the good: The checkout lanes are quick and the cashiers are friendly.
Here’s onto the bad:
I went in there today with a simple request to have a few keys made a new locks. DRUMROLL… I was there for literally 4.5 hours because the folks in the key department have no idea what they are doing. I have to have 3 employees help me out because they were taking so long. Then, the best part is, after they were done, I took the keys they made and tried them on the new locks… Guess what? No surprise here, they don’t work, NONE of the three keys they made work …
Ended up going to Lowe’s, who did the same procedure in 15 minutes and guess what, all keys work and only charged me $ 5 versus $ 10 at ACE… Stay away…

Today they were able to help me find a special washer replacement on a French electric pruning system. keeping the customer up and running is valuable and local businesses need the support. Love this place, lumber is way cheaper then local lumber stores and better quality then H.D. or Lowes. Great for lumber, specialty metal products… this is where we go when buying material for our business also! If they don’t have it do to the special desk and they will order and get it right away. Very helpful at the order desk.

I want to thank the staff at Ace for all the extra effort. I walked in with pictures on my iPhone of the projects I wanted to complete and I left with all the tools, instructions and wood cut to get the job done. They go above and beyond with customer service!

I really like this place. I was going to the AHEM Home Depot for a screwing AHEM I mean hardware needs, but then decided to try this place. I assumed the prices would be much higher and the service would be better.
Well, the prices are a bit higher and the selection is obviously not what you get from a huge retailer, but the service is fairly good and BETTER here and actually had what the AHEM Home depot did not have.
These guys will load your vehicle and all that kinda stuff just like the AHEM Home Depot type places.
If you have a business of construction purposes, they can, at their discretion, give you special pricing on certain products they sell.
Sometimes, it’s best to do business with your local smaller business than the big large chain stores. I recommend people try their smaller town businesses at least twice before making the larger chain store their primary go-​to-​place.

Each time I have been here, I’m VERY impressed with the service! Wow, they really make sure you are not left alone, wandering, to find things… someone always approaches quite soon into your arrival, to see if you need help to find anything. The check out is always smooth sailing, fast, and friendly also. I’m impressed!

The best customer service I have ever seen in a lumber/​hardware store! …Not that I go in a lot often, its very rare, but to say the least it was great customer service. There wasn’t one person there that didn’t say hi or acknowledge I needed help (I am woman in a man’s place). I found everything I needed and was on my way. Down the road I realized I was missing $ 20 in my change but I still give this place 5 stars because customer service is everything! I simply went back and got my change, still happy :)

I recently moved to Morgan Hill, and this location of Ace Hardware has now been elevated to *my favorite hardware store of all time*. Staff know the stock and genuinely have seemed to care about helping me resolve whatever home– or hardware-​related issue brought me into the store, often walking me directly to the product I needed, finding the information I was seeking, and, when possible, suggesting multiple solutions from which I could choose. They even provided friendly and flexible home delivery for an item I had purchased that would not fit into my vehicle. I’ve been there a handful of times already, have purchased many items, have interacted with numerous staff, and always have left satisfied. All other hardware stores can learn a thing or two or twenty about customer service from the Morgan Hill Ace Hardware.

We love this store. They help you find what you need and have more than meets the eye. The employees know their stuff and will patiently help you. It’s nice to come here vs. bigger hardware chains for smaller items.

Didn’t realize it was possible to have worse customer service than home depot, but there it is.
I needed some gas fittings for my dryer, and the dude who helped me was less than clueless, looking at *me* like I was the idiot.
I told him nevermind and figured it out on my own instead.

Why is it that I can go to this place and almost always find what I need, yet when I go to their competition (an enormous store that rhymes with «Gnome Depot») I don’t leave with what I need about half the time? Ace is a fraction of the size of that «Gnome Depot» store with friendlier people. I don’t walk around a warehouse and not find what I’m looking for. I don’t have to send up a signal flare so an employee may possibly find the aisle I’m in to tell me they DON’T have what I need. Why do I go to that other store? Why don’t I just go to Ace first instead? Why am I asking myself rhetorical questions? Forget it. I’m sticking with Ace.
