Yes, the rangers are very pleasant. Place seriously lacks upkeep and maintenance. «No full sewer hookups» (except for the row of permanent residents). Dingy vibe, shady nighttime activities: i.e. methheads cooking «something» at midnight in the grill next to the bath house? I will stop here in order to keep the barely two star rating viable.

First thing people should know is, this place feels more like a trailer park. The sites are tiny and packed together.
You don’t get that feeling of camping out in the wilderness. So once you have that in mind, this place isn’t too bad.
Yes there’s your share of «white trash» looking meth heads, so far they seem to keep to themselves, get loud here and there but for me it’s more entertainment than a nuisance haha
The park employees are friendly and constantly driving around in their golf carts making sure everything is okay.
The roads are mostly gravel or dirt so there’s a lot of dust flying around all of the time, due to the heavy amount of traffic at all hours through out the day.
There are dumpsters through out the park, which I find convienant. Also seems to be plenty of bathrooms that have shower stalls as well.
The pool is great, its pretty big. So even when there’s a lot of people there, you still have room to swim around with your kids.
The place is «meh».
I don’t think I’ll spend money yo come back here again. Not for camping anyway. If you’re looking for a nice trailer park to stay in for an extended amount of time that isn’t too expensive, then this would be a place for you.

NO! Don’t do it!!! We looked at this campground several years ago when my in-​laws bought a camper for the CA visits. Back then we opted out because of the unfriendly staff. We never even looked at the park. Recently, my mother-​in-​law called to make a reservation because her normal placed was booked. The 1 – 800 staff was wonderful and she ended up joining. They said having her son drop the camper off would not be a problem. This was not the case. We had numerous problems and that was before we even got them settled. They are both in the 80’s and use the camper as a home base when they come to CA. My husband finally called to cancel the reservation and their membership when the manager said he would let us drop it off for them. We should have cancelled. It was probably the most degrading experience. The man at the gate walked around our camper to check it out. There was a very small piece of weather molding sticking out of one of the back doors. Other than that the camper is in great shape. It’s clean and well maintained. Not one dent, no rust, no damage, no peeling paint, but the man made a point of telling about the 4 inches of weather stripping that if he had looked closer he would have noticed that it just needed the door to be opened and it to be stuck back on the door. He made a point of saying, «we have very high standard here». He obviously has never been inside the campground, or the bathrooms, or looked at the showers. Their high standards must be for only certain people because the campers around us made ours look like the Ritz Carlton. Their high standards must not include the actual campsites which are not level, are not clean and have water and electric hookup post that are rotted out. Their staff are not held to their high standards because most of them are really unfriendly and don’t even get me started on the «high standards» of their customer service. So, if you want to go to a campground with unfriendly staff and dirty facilities this is your place.

Singularly one of the worst experience I have had in an RV Park. We arrived at check-​in time for our 5 day stay with our reservation in hand to be told that there were no spaces available. It was Memorial Day weekend and people were overstaying thier allotted time, $ 32 a day fine. After less than a hour they were able to squeeze us into a space next to a large trailer, so that wasn’t too bad. When I started hooking up the trailer I noticed a very pronounced smell of sewage but it wasn’t until the next morning that I noticed that our neighbor was dripping some kind of liquid out of his trailer and that was attracting a cloud of black flies which were swarming around. On the way out of the park for our day’s activities I notified the Ranger at the gate about the problem and he assured us that he would walk down and look at it. This went on for the next 4 days of our stay. We were told the Maintenance Man had just went throught the gate, we were told there was no record of our complaint, we were told that they checked with our other neighbors, not close, whether the smell and the flies bothered them and it didn’t. All of this was happening in California during a heatwave over the whole state, with temperatures in the upper 80’s and above. We could not open our windows or relax outside because of this stench and flies. We will never return to this park and could not recommend it to anyone.

How do you rate a campground like Thousand Trails? Because it depends on what you are looking for. Shady campsites? Check. Beautiful scenery? Check. Creek? Check. Real toilets? Check. Showers? Check. Swimming pool? Check.
Even so, I found it disappointing. The facilities showed of deferred maintenance, especially the bathroom. The toilet tank lid was missing. The tile grout in the shower was black, tiles were broken and missing, but the shower head delivered ample water. The bath fan bearing was howling at about 80 decibels. The roads were dusty and potholed. Landscape lighting was broken, bulbs were missing. The tent sites were narrow and tight, but most were well shaded; the grass was brown and full of burs. There were no fire rings, or picnic tables. Several sites were missing theiR BBQ grills. There was poison oak everywhere making it a poor choice for children or pets. The creek water was brown and sudsy and burbled over old curbs and concrete filled rusty 50 gallon barrels: signs were posted warning us not to swim. Abandoned houses on the other side were dilapidated, had broken windows and were surrounded with junk.
We stayed this Memorial Day weekend. The place was packed. Many campsites had multiple tents. The site next to us had five tents for five families but they were nice people. Four sites to our West were two motor homes and three tents. They were playing music through a concert speaker. It was loud! Good quality loud, but loud nevertheless. It was one of four «concerts» going on around the campground: one pop, one mariachi, one rap, and one rock.
I called the main desk after 10:00 PM but there was no answer. I left a message but the next night was the same. We put in earplugs and fell asleep listening to the muffled melody of «Take This Job and Shove It!»
The pool alone was large and wonderful.
The bottom line — go if you must. If you must, go during a non-​peak time. And go with low expectations.

We stayed in E188. Wooded but no grass for our puppy just a few green weeds and lots of dirt at out site. No septic hookups. You have to go to one of two dump stations. You have to have your roof mounted satellite pointed south and with so many trees we could not get tv.

This place is beyond amazing! The location is perfect, away from the craziness of the city and lights, but close enough to grocery stores and shopping that is convenient. They are kid friendly as well as dog, and have a great staff. Everyone is friendly and they are super helpful! Can’t wait to go back!

We come up here often and the location is a nice distance from San Francisco and from Monterrey Bay down south. Best part is that they are located right in the middle of wineries!

I decided to write one statement for every day I have been at this location.
Day 1– This place needs a better operational plan. You should assign people a space number instead of telling them to pick a open spot.
Day 2– No hookups to the sewer line. Your tanks get full pretty quickly.
Day 3– Staff is all about enforcement of rules. This 5mph rule is completely enforced. They will threaten to make you walk the park if you do not adhere to it. How do they know if you’re going 5 mph without a radar? If you have a bright colored vehicle or a distinctive vehicle, good luck. They will remember you and harass you for going 7 mph.
Day 4– Laundry room has 5 washers and 6 dryers for the 300+ spot location. Not to mention people who are tent camping… Just leaving that there…
Day 5– Staff will call you and threaten to fine you $ 25 if you do not return the little blue piece of paper that states which space number you are in.
Day 6– Code changes every week for the gate. They may or may not give you the code when you drive by each Wednesday.
Day 7– Pool is closed.
Day 8– Bathrooms with the showers are super ghetto.
Day 9– Sewer dump site is completely grody and gross.
Day 10– Customer service with the staff is non-​existent. You should really rethink how you treat your members who BUY into your park.
Day 11– Staff will not go over where anything is and the amenities that you get in the park. You’re on your own with figuring it out.
Day 12– Moving your reservation with the national 800 number is not possible. Call the local location. They’ll amend it for you.
Day 13– I couldn’t get a signal for my cable here.
Day 14– With the basic membership, you get 2 weeks max in and then spend a week out before you can come back in.
SECOND RESERVATION:
Day 1– Place is not kept up. Dirt. Everywhere. No grass.
Day 2– I want a refund on my membership. I didn’t personally pay for my membership because I got this built into my purchase of a trailer but I feel like I want my money back.
I was planning on full timing between here and another location to save money as a young family but forget it. You are WAY better off NEVER coming here. I’m only going to come here if I need to pick up customers for my job. Sorry, y’all lost another customer. I’m full timing at a park where I’ll be happy to give them my money since they’re decent people with some sort of customer service skills because they realize that they are in a service industry that relies on money to keep their doors open.
Also, thanks for harassing me some more by saying I can’t park on a hill by my trailer without justifying some sort of reason for it. I’m checking out tomorrow. Actually today since you decided that both of my vehicles were horribly parked out of the way of the middle of the street like the rest of the vehicles that are in my row.

I read all of the negative reviews prior to renting a cottage the past three nights and if it wasn’t for the few positive reviews I would not have reserved the cottage.
The grounds were okay. Hey, it is a campground.
The facilities were nice especially my cottage. Clean and comfortable. I was by myself on business and refused to pay the $ 400 tab they wanted in Monterey due to the annual car show/​auction.
The people, especially Raquel, were very nice. Everyone valued me as a guest and wanted to make sure everything was the way I liked it.
Don’t base your decision on the negative reviews. Stay here!

We spent last weekend here as we do every year for the last 3 yrs. The boys have a great time at the pool and playing tennis as well as pool in the club house. They love to go Hiking as well.
I encourage people to come and have a great time. Safeway is only 10 minutes away and is very convenient if you forgot something, such as ice.
The park rangers are friendly.

This campground is huge and has a lot of spaces to camp ! They have a lot of trees, lots of hook ups, but what was very dis appointing to me was no camp store, no place to buy ice, and they don’t serve any hot meals like a lot of the other preserves I have gone to. I’ve been a Naco/​Thousand Trails member since 1984 and it’s disappointing that we have lost several preserves (resorts) through the years! And a lot of the the preserves have gone way down hill !! Disappointing to visit and see how each place I have gone to is becoming less appealing! One good note it’s close to Santa Cruz :)

This is a hard place to review because I am not exactly sure what it is or what it is supposed to be. I have taken the family here twice now and the kids had a great time. They love the pool and being to run around in the dirt. The movie night and smores were a big hit too. Based on all that, I would give the place a higher rating, but there is another side to this place I don’t understand or like.
While it seems to be advertised as a camping resort or vacation spot, there are a ton of people who clearly live here long term. And some are probably living here for questionable reasons. When I take the family out for a weekend trip, I want to be surrounded by other campers and families doing the same. Not people living onsite because it is cheap or because they are possibly hiding out. Sad because it is very close for a quick getaway and the kids enjoy it. But I don’t like the vibe and question how safe it is.
And, as for the staff, not sure what everyone is talking about. The staff was awesome — friendly, helpful, never rude.

Went this 4^th of July weekend. Place isn’t very green, very few shade trees, a lot of dirt and dried grass/​weeds. What once was probably a great destination family get-​away spot, with pool, mini golf, basketball court, and cabinets… is now a gated land mass of over populated tent campers, day use and extended term renters — not much privacy and outdated amenities.
This campground offers electrical and water but no sewer. It does have pretty good Gate security and they did offer an outdoor movie for families to enjoy on the grass.
No wifi unless you go to the lounge building above pool area.
We didn’t enjoy pool as there were at least 100 using it– not clean EW!
The bathrooms/​showers stayed clean up thru mid day, then they were over used and untidy until 9 pm. Best wait to shower after 9

I don’t understand why people feel the need to bash this park. I have been a member since Aug of last year and stay in my RV on a month to month basis as of February.
The park rangers are friendly and neighbors are friendly as long as you’re friendly to them. Every «neighborhood» has questionable neighbors but they have really cut down on allowing «rift raft» to stay long term. The bathrooms could use some work and they could add more washers for the large park (6 isn’t enough) and I wish there were full hook ups. Overall is a great place to go for a camping vacation or for temporary housing. It just needs some TLC and this place would be awesome!

She was quite friendly and apologized for the charge on a cancellation that was 5 months in advance.
I appreciated the phone call and thought she handled the situation with professionalism and sincerity.

The Tent sites are not like all the tent sites you’ve already experienced. Their tent sites is truly a unique experience, NO TABLE in their tent site !!! NO TABLE !! really ???

Where do I put my stove ??? where ??? Not on the table of course !! they don’t have any tables for the tent sites !!!

You would think that paying extra guaranties a better service, cleaner bathrooms, nicer staff. NO. Never assume that again.
The only STAR here goes to the swimming pool that my boys liked.
We left the next morning. We were supposed to stay 3 nights. 1 was enough.
I should have booked a reservation at a 5 STAR hotel instead.

We had reservations for 3 nights but moved after 2. After we drove through the park and checked it out, we almost drove on. It impressed us that much. Their new and «upgraded» sites are unlevel, on dirt, without sewer and almost on top of neighbors. Trees block satellite at many sites. Rangers are young and tend to be curt. Furniture and lodges are rundown. What’s wrong with Thousand Trails? They used to be ahead of all the other RV parks. We’ve seen a few of their parks just like this one.

I am hard pressed to give this review a 2. I think this campground could be magnificient if it was kept better! It is truly surrounded by beautiful scenery and wine country. Just a quick hop n skip into Morgan Hill which is a nice size town with anything you’d need.
HOWEVER. The bathrooms are less than appealing. The shower stalls on both the 1^st and 2^nd day of our stay were literally disgusting. What looked like «boogers» … or (I hope not) feces was smeared on the wall and the sinks needed some serious bleach. Day 3 they were finally cleaned. The family lodge area is spacious, the furniture has nails or staples sticking through and is ripped up badly. There is supposed to be wifi in the lodge but it has not been working the last 3 days. The park is more of an extended stay and is overall ok. The pool is huge which is a nice draw and the bathrooms for the pool were clean, although we are here during the «off-​season». They have 2 decent playgrounds and mini golf which was nice.
Overall 2 stars. Hopefully they will clean up a little more … being part of Thousand Trails I was expecting a little bit of a nicer park considering others I’ve stayed at.

Hard to give it even three stars.
We came in in our way south and stayed for three weeks.
Very dissappointed in the upkeep, or should I say lack of. Bathrooms are old, old, old. Toilets are always plugged. If you want to take a shower, hope you are the only one. The drains can’t keep up with the water and if there is more than one person, you are standing in other peoples dirty water.
Laundry room: prices are great $ 1 a load but again the drain issue as well as general uncleanliness.
Grounds weren’t bad. We are here in late October, so maybe just can’t see the garbage due to the leaves.
Staff was not very friendly or helpful.
One positive; there was almost always someone at the guard shack.
Wifi: barely in family lodge, a bit better at the adult lodge.
Five dollar surcharge for 50 amp.
Another negative is the «squatters», they obviously live here. There motorhomes and area around them are incredibly distracting. I thought there were some «rules» regarding garbage, trapping etc.
