I came here on a Wednesday and ordered one cod egg soup and a few other food such as the beefbone soup. The cod egg was horribly watered down. To tell you the truth, it was just water. I ended up not eating it. The beefbone soup was delicious. Not too salty and just right. Now the service. They do have a button for service but without that, they hardly offer water. Overall a not so bad Korean restaurant.

Korean restaurant that specializes in a special fish casserole dish from Korea. They also serve regular Korean fair. Bibimbop, tonkatsu, etc. I have found some of the dishes were a bit salty or too sweet.

Nice atmosphere … dishes are okay. I’m sure my taste preferences are different from others for the kimchi pancake but I didn’t dig it too much. Liked the privacy of the dining area. In comparison to another Korean restaurant across the street, these servers are not very hospitable or attentive.

Love it! One of the best Korean restaurants I’ve been to! The ladies are so friendly and nice. Place is a bit tight but great atmosphere. Strongly recommend!

I’ve been living in the area for about four years now and I didn’t even know this place existed. I had lunch here with a friend who was missing out on good korean food. We had the bossam, bulgogi and al-tang. The entrees that we had ordered were all proper and the banchan was pretty darn good. The prices weren’t too expensive. I totally recommend the bossam it was awesome!

My dad suggested we get lunch here and I’m glad he did. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap and it was delicious. One of the best I’ve ever had. The banchan(side dishes) were very generous and fresh. The restaurant itself is very clean and the wait staff was very friendly. I’ll definitely recommend this place to friends.

We really enjoyed our meals here. We were able to park in the small parking lot to the side of the restaurant and were seated immediately upon arrival(around 6pm on Saturday). The staff were all friendly. I got Haejang guk(cabbage and meat soup) which was a little spicy but very flavorful. My wife ordered the Soondubu and loved it. We’ve had Soondubu at a few other restaurants around the area that left us disappointed but the flavor of this was excellent. Again, spicy but flavorful. Just a heads up, we weren’t expecting seafood in it because it said it was going to be vegetables and tofu. We were both pleasantly surprised that they kept with the traditional Soondubu seafood mix. I can see how that might not be a pleasant surprise for others. Our friend got Bulgogi and enjoyed it. We loved the prices. I think the Haejang guk and soondubu were each under $ 10/dish and the Bulgogi was under $ 15. I also saw they have great deals for lunch. The only reason I took off one star is because the ban chan wasn’t amazing or plentiful. Hopefully that will be different next time. We’ll be returning!

Love this Korean restaurant! We been here closed to ten times in past year and we never disappointed. We ordered Oyster pancake, boiled octopus and spicy pork belly. Beside food, services was great and the place kind nice as most table are sectioned so you kind of have a private table.

Well, the word is out. Haewadall is consistently busy at night and it isn’t uncommon to wait for a table. The banchan has improved from my original visit along with their other menu items. The soondubu is still good and I love that the seafood is fresh and never, ever rubbery. This is pretty evident in their ohjinguh bokkum(spicy squid). Order it an tell me the squid isn’t cooked perfectly, tender yet toothsome. The Daegu muhri jjim is another dish done really well. Read Hannah H’s review about it. While those dishes are excellent, some of their other stews are average. The al chigae and daegu tang(roe stew/spicy cod stew) are not spicy enough and don’t have much depth of flavor. Service is friendly but they are constantly running around to different tables so I’ve learned it’s best to ring the table bell when you want their attention. Haewadall is the best option for homestyle Korean food in the area. I think the tables full of Koreans would agree.

Food was good. We had AHGOOJJIM. it was huge. but so good that we, two petite asian ladies, finished it all. came with usual BANCHAN(side dishes were kinda lame), rice and bowl of daeng jang jigae or moo gook(?)(i don’t know what i ate! lol) we went around 830 and it was pretty packed. no lines but it was a full house and korean ahjusshis can get really loud when they are fed and drunk. Service — took awhile for the ahjummahs/servers to recognize we were done and trying to get their attention. all THREE of them. guess they’re more used to people just yelling out their orders or maybe because they’re too busy flirting. but i never expect much good«service» at korean or chinese restaurants unless you know the owners. you have to have an IN with the staff to get decent treatment. otherwise, don’t be surprised with crappy service at any asian restaurant. but either way, ill probably be back to try out more food to see how they are.

We went to haewadall to find some good homecooked korean food and not some generic kbbq. I was surprised to find out the service was so friendly, even to non-koreans! The server greeted us with a smile and directed us to one of the private cubicles. The banchan came out promptly and the variety and taste was excellent. I ordered yukgaejang and it was great! I especially liked the bell to call service anytime! I was happy to have our waiter come in and ask how our food was, which in my belief is very unusual in korean restaurants. I would definitely try to come again for the lunch specials, which are very affordable. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant, so it is easy to find. A great experience, and I would definitely come again!

Made a quick stop for dinner to avoid traffic back from great America. Walked in and the staff was very friendly and the place seemed very authentic. We may have been the only ones there to not be a descendant of Korea. Nice private booths that really seclude you from the other patrons. I wanted a soup and the waitress suggested a spicy pork and potato soup. It was definitely spicy. Lots of flavor but the pork was very fatty. The lady friend enjoyed the beef which was similar to beef teriyaki. Kimchi was great as well as all of the pre dinner treats brought to the table. Had to get used to the metal chop sticks. Those things are durable. Anywho, would definitely go back but I would have to try something else. Everyone around seemed to be happy with the larger share platters. Maybe o. e day I’ll order correctly.

This place is pretty good. I would recommend spicy squid(ojinguh bokeum). The sauce on that dish is just divine. Also, seafood stew(haemool jjigeh) was really good. Kalbi tang was just okay, and grilled briskets(chadol baegi) was good but the portion was little on the small side. The service was really good. They have a bell you can press on the table. They also cooked the meat at the table side. Most places, you cook it on your own. Monk fish dish(agujjim) was not that good. It was just lot of bean sprouts and not much meat. Not much flavor. Other than this dish, most other dishes were very good. The restaurant itself is little bit on the smaller side, but we called ahead because we had 6 adults and 2 kids, and got a table ready for us.

This is a cute Korean restaurant, translated as ‘Sun and Moon,’ has great friendly service — we usually do carry out of the Daegu Muhrhee Jjim(literally translated as the Spicy Cod Head Dish(‘jjim’ is basically meat that has been marinated and steamed in sauce) — it’s a spicy cod dish where the cod is deep-fried and comes with a bunch of kong namool on top(bean sprouts) — it’s absolutely divine and hearty if it is done right! Most restaurants usually uses steamed cod, but this restaurant deep fries it, which makes the entrée oh-so-darn-good! Their banchans(side dishes) are pretty solid, too(I love their steamed broccoli & the seaweed with the cho gochujang, and the steamed cabbage with the dwengjang). Yum yum YUM ! However, the consistency isn’t there as sometimes, the dish can come with less sauce, a small cod head(with less meat), and not enough bean sprouts. The sauce can also be watered down, instead of the thicker version that is more delicious. The dish sets you back at about $ 33, but is totally worth it, as it is more than enough to feed a hungry couple or 3 people. If the restaurant is on their good days, it is definitely worth checking this place out! +daegu muhrhee jjim(hit-or-miss) +ask for extra kong namool(bean sprouts)

Decent Korean food. The variety of ban chan was ok, though shouldn’t there be some kim chee to go with your meal? Had the sundubu soup– which is how I judge Korean restaurants. It was fine, the broth wasn’t as deep as I think it should be. But it was pretty spicy and full of flavor otherwise. Service was slow at times. The booth partitions were really high and we had to stand up to look for a waitress to ask for water glasses. Prices were a bit higher than other Korean restaurants in the area. This place is ok

This place is fantastic. Food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and if they don’t speak English see you don’t know what you’re doing they usually ask a coworker who speaks fluently in English to help you. The dolsot bibimbop is some of the best I’ve had and the kimchi pancake is to die for. Seriously. Try the kimchi pancake. Every experience I’ve had here has been pleasant.

This is our lunch go-to nowadays. Food is solid, especially their dolsot bibimbop. I swear, I don’t know what’s in their spicy sauce but it makes anything so good. I even tried stealing some and got caught… hehe. I should have just asked, they would’ve given it to me anyways. Serivice depends, obviously on who serves you. Their owner’s very kind and very flexible. They don’t have any english menus so bring a Korean friend or ask a friendly Korean sitting next to you.

This is a Korean place in Dempster which used to be Ilmiok. I think it’s been at least several months since they changed the name, but I am not sure about if the owners are changed. One thing I know is that their signature dish is different now, so I guess it’s a new owner. It was Saturday night, but we were the first party partly because we were too early but also because Dempster st is not really filled with a lot of people at least these days(I don’t know what it looked like 5 – 10 years ago). We had a spicy dish of Monk fish with bean sprout(A Goo Jjim, pretty popular dish in Korea, but not much in the US). I thought the dish was pretty good. Fish texture was good, and the overall spicy-ness is adequate. My wife liked the way they put up side dishes. 6 kinds, but they were executed well. The server was attentive. I think some of the dishes they serve should be well known dishes(marinated beef, spicy pork, etc). I think this is a pretty good bet that you will be satisfied.
